@Sinekyre14 Had nazis showed more respects to russian people , and especially russian pows, they would have had hundred of thousands men more fighting on the eastern front against Staline.

For the rest of pows, you're definetly right, except very few bad stories like US pows shot by SS during the battle of the Bulge, some pows from french colonies in 1940, or RAFs officers as revenge for a massive escape.

@Sinekyre14 I really doubt the survival rate for soviets prisoners was part of this 90%. URSS didn't signed the geneva convention, so the german treated soviet prisoners basically as bad as soviets treated german prisoners, except softer climate, a better feed country and higher cultural morality (and also that URSS hold german prisoners as long as 10 years after the end of the war, and lot of them after the capitulation).

@Sinekyre14 german regulars for the most part but it's the SS you had to worry about. and don't forget the thousands of french and other nations' civilians who were murdered (like seen in the previos part) by the SS just for suspicion of helping the allies.

The Germans followed the Geneva Convention, which forbade torture and butchery of POWs by the Allies AND the Aixs Powers. It bound their leaders to punishment if they violated it....The Nazis didn't follow it and the Japanese didn't follow it either.

The Germans were noble in WW2? Where was that? In the camps, where they murdered millions? Or on the Eastern Front, where they also murdered millions? FYI German pilots didn't have to shoot at parachutes landing in their territory, where they would be captured, but many pilots were murdered in their chutes if they had the misfortune to bail out over the Channel or over British territory . Very noble. But that has little to do with the film at hand, does it?

Now, not sayin that the Germans gave roses to their enemies but nearly all of them thought the war was useless and they actually hated hitler. But there was still a few Japanese troops that didn't want war as you can see in letters from iwo jima.
