  • why do you keep saying that it'll increase boot time. I don't wanna increase my boot time D:

  • Hey in regedit i have two "wait to kill service timeout" and one is 20000 and other 5000!Wath to do?

  • dont do the tuneXP part! it messing up ur PC and takes time to boot!

  • The "Number of processors" option is for LIMITING the number of cores/processors that Windows uses during boot. Windows will ALWAYS use the maximum number of cores for parallel processing during boot and operation without this setting being checked.

This MYTH has been put up so many times, even by reputable publications, it's become a standard 'smoke and mirrors' speed up trick that some people actually insist they can see a difference, even though no testing has ever shown it to actually work.

  • LMAO you sound like a pu55y kid.

  • @ElOhElmo you jumped on a youtube tutorial to say shit like that? you sounds like a pussy kid too

  • @LAHrebirth

    Mad bro?

  • but anyway thanks for the video

  • i have a i3core

  • @seanmotokx thats 2 cores

  • honestly the best thing you can do is probably uncheck some startup stuff you don't need. The rest is BS

  • dont mess with your boot int.. this guy is an idiot. your pc starts at the time it does for a REASON.

  • Can you Teach Me How to Enable Windows 7 aero

  • omg you almost destroyed my computer!!!! when i did that GUI boot and i restard my computer and it didnt want to restart last screen was shutting down... shutting down around 5 min.s and then i shut it down manualy !! and when i started there was blank screen man!!!! then after 5 mins it showd my desktop!!!!!!!!!! and i have a vista

  • What if you have a 990x and when your selecting your cores are you going to select 6 or 12 in the box?

  • Instead of doing system restore you would want to make a boot disk & a restore disk using Acronis True Image

  • OMG windows hasn't been using all of my precious, overpriced intel i5 cores?Damn, that sucks. This video rocks though.

  • Thanks, nice video.

  • wtf you have 2 windows' if you start up your pc you must choose 1 of them xD

  • No GUI boot: Doesn't make a difference. It only changes when the GPU driver is initialized. It'll still take the same amount of time to init whether it's loaded in the beginning or the end of the boot process.

Multi-Core Boot: This is actually a myth. Windows uses all your cores for booting.

  • weird. mine is i7 930 quad core but they put there 8 processors. Is this safe?

  • @TheRES74 Might be 4 physical cores, but 8 threads, which means it's gonna show up as 8. Anyways, enabling all 8 will increase it.

  • i did everything u said, i count the timing. With default setting, 40 sec, with ur setting, 1 minute and 10 sec, or it maybe my computer is Awesome!!!

  • u sure it works?? i am scared it will 'BOOOM' my Pc...

  • i dont know why but my 'waitToKillServiceTimout' thing is a 'REG-DWORD' not a 'REG_SZ'

  • Why is it that people always have to use music in their tutorials? I've never understood that.

Music is so annoying. I just want to hear the voice of the person speaking...NOTHING ELSE !!

  • I installed windows 7 in the time it took to watch this video

  • what does timeout mean?

  • Thanks mate!

  • This guy sounds like PCWizKid :D

  • @halo3masterable I have a solid state drive. I'd like to see your Alienware boot faster than that.

  • yeah

  • When I want to open regedit, it says I don't have admin for it, but I AM FFS :O (OWNER) help please :D ?

  • gud tips

but it dosen't work for me , so some of my friend told about reg in out registry cleaner, i have downloaded that, and run first i thought this will also not work, but after running i seen the results my win 7 is much faster, nearly it's look likes new win 7, u gyus can try this it will work for u

  • tunexp wont install... some kind of error (win xp)

  • Fake. :)

  • omg be very careful when using the program at the end!!! i almost fucked my computer up so do be careful!!

  • music ???

  • Simple use reginout it will enhace ur system more than it try it give it a chance

  • Mine takes like 5 secs! So why others are like 3 Minutes? PLZ answer!

    Windows 7 Ultimate,

Core i7 Extreme 3.3 Ghz (with intel boost thing, 3.6 Ghz) (overclocked to 4.02 GHZ)

    16GB RAM

  • @Grandwaterfrount Are you trollin? Ima guess its because you have one of the best processors in existence and a fuckload of ram. Which you very well may not have, and just be trolling, as I said.

  • @tehbensauce seriously what are ur computer's specs?

  • hey man thx the guide.

I need your wallpaper LoL thx.

  • I Play Combat Arms To. Whats your name? (On Combat Arms)

  • Don't you mean "decrease" boot time? You are increasing boot speed but decreasing boot time because you are reducing the amount of time the computer takes to boot up.

  • If my WaitToKill Service is set to "12000" in Windows 7, should I lower it?

  • My "Wait to kill service" is 20,000. Should i lower it?

  • my average boot time is 1minute and 20seconds with windows 7

  • lol, my wait to kill was set at 12,000 !!!

  • The System Configuration is misleading.

Changing the # of processors being used is redundant. If you leave it unchecked, it uses all of the available processors. If Win7 detects 4 cores it will automatically use all 4 cores.

  • If anyone can't see the dowload link just click the arrow at the top right side of the description

  • Just delete System 32...it works every time!

  • so after doing all those will get shutdown to drop back on fast track like getting the laptop or pc out of the box?

I have very slow shutdown problem, it takes like a 1min to 2min shut down.

  • you should give a warning before instructing viewers to change registry that it might cause major errors or problems if done incorrectly. Other than that nice video. (Norton PC-Support specialist)

  • its a minth....

  • Hey thanks for all the tips! Your wallpaper is cool can you tell me where you got it?

  • where did you get your mouse theme can you send it to me

  • hey nc vid but i have a prob...when i restarted win7 the starting screen wouldnt appear u know y?

  • @stamosgang you clicked on no gui boot. so that was supposed to happen if you clicked on it. all it does is turn off the pretty pictures when you are turning on your computer.

  • he nice vid 1 thing about that cores.

i can select 4 but is it right because in de case of my laptop it saids ´´ intel core i3 inside´´

    is that right??

  • @MrBlackNova the i3 is just the version of the cpu. not the amount of logical processors.

Most i3 have 2 cores and 4 logical processors so use all 4

  • hey i have a question at 1:36 next to on gui boot where it says timeout 10 sec if you lower that will it make it faster

  • I think you should have told us to do the system restore thing before starting the video b'c some people might have not watched the whole video before attempting.

I did that but no problems for me. Think you should add an annotation in the beginning or something.

  • i dont turn off my computer in months....

  • About the core thing can you only have 2 and 4? Because i have 8

  • @JACOBFLARSEN You have a core i7 or something? Sure, use as many as you have.

  • Yeah I do :)and thnx

  • @quesomanrulz Most likely dual "quad core" processors...

  • @quesomanrulz "...And I'm gonna be showing you how to increase your boot time..."

    Don't you mean decrease xD

  • @quesomanrulz Shouldn't we be trying to decrease the boot speed :P

  • @JACOBFLARSEN 4 physically + another 4 virtually

  • @JACOBFLARSEN The number of CPU's available in that list increases as you get more cores. So you got 8 cores, then it should also show up 8 cores available.

  • @JACOBFLARSEN im sure that not even i7 has 8 cores you probably have 4 cores with hyperthred...

  • doing the msconfig thing only saved me 2 seconds

  • im in vista, i changed it to 200 its fine

  • just put your pc in sleepmode .. then you get to the login screen in 3 seconds XD

  • @Insane360Gamers lol. haha

  • @Insane360Gamers yes but won't that shorten the life span of your computer, leaving it on when you're not using?

sleep mode power is still going through the system i think hence why it wakes up quicker then hibernation

  • Oh, btw, as for this video. Thanks, the majority of them worked

  • me too lol

  • Probably because your computer doesn't work.

  • rofl? Unless you've spent over $10k in your computer, you don't have shit kid. Wtf do you think a quad core is? That's 4. Such a stupid ass

  • m8 you suck ass and you live in the old days my processer is a Intel Core i7 CPU, Beat that noob. btw i have used 15.000DKK i dont know how mutch that would be in Dollar's. SUCK MY BIG ASS!

  • Wow u kno my PC costed 23.899DKK and its the best pc in the world Its a gamer pc and it Runs faster than the Bugatti or should i say the Jet f-20, Dude so dont be complaining about this

  • The best PC in the world is not just a pc that a normal person can get and if you want a pc that is in the list of the best pc's then its gonna cost you 50.000DKK you just got a sucky laptop

  • PC.

    Personal Computer.

"The best Personal Computer is not something a normal person could get."

See how that not makes sense?

  • wow you guys are very stupid...

  • I ride the special bus! :D

  • I mean "Core i7 Extreme 965 (3.2GHz)

  • What happened to having 8 CPUs? ...You're pathetic.

  • I bet my "1" cpu can beat ur all 8, 7.822 G RAM, 8.1 Graphic Card, 5.8 Processor, Windows 7...... Can own you bitch!

  • @TheCwalker44 I have that spec lol !!!

  • u should cahnge the name of vid

like i don't wanna increace my 30 sec boot to 3mins right?

  • do i have to change the timeout?

  • Great video man!thanx!

  • thanks man!!!!!!!!!

  • clear on the 2 or 4 core, mine says 3

  • where did u get ur cursor?

  • Combat Arms , i was addicted to it too? lol

  • my windows 7 takes about 2 minutes to boot up, my my vista was alot faster. and iv done all the tweaks that i know of... (intel core 2 duo cpu E8400 @3.00GHz, 4 GB of RAM, new windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS. please help

  • Comment removed

  • @7Stark He said Increase Boot SPEED.

Not Boot TIME. Read, you bloody dolt.

  • The title reads "increase boot speed" but he repeatedly verbally says on the audio on the video "increase the boot time" many times.

    ~_^

  • Increasing the boot speed would increase the boot time. Think about it, if I'm racing a car, and I complete one lap faster than the previous time, I decreased the time it would have taken me.

  • 5:31 look at the ladybug lol

  • hey, u play combat arms europe or american

and anyway nice vid my windows 7 is double the speed now

  • Increase?!

  • @muffemod LOL

  • @muffemod Increase Boot SPEED.

  • Great video! However, the "rearrange boot files" is sort of unnecessary for Windows7 since the OS does this automatically once a week.

  • Why do you keep saying "Increasing boot time"?

  • @Eskimo50 LMAO UR SOO RIGHT

  • my killservicetime says 5000 what do i do

  • cool you have Combat Arms

  • im on windows 7 and when in regedit in waittokillservicetimeout i had 12000 shoud i still change it ?

  • i had 20000 on my win7.

  • me too

did you change yours? i didnt

  • naa, I dident really know why I watched this video :P

Need like 1 min to boot xD

Expensive :( but worth it :D

  • I had same 12000..I changed to 2000....

  • My wait to kill time was 12000 in W7

  • tunexp + спасибо! попробую!

  • You could just type in msconfig into the Search box on Vista and 7, and it'll appear :)

  • for me that dosent work

  • I appreciate your efforts to help people. This msconfig tweak will slow up boot times instead of fastening things up. For example on a Quad Core you'll probably select 4 in the number of processors and that means that during boot only the 4rth core is used for booting process the remaining three idle....

Unfortunately this is a myth and the area of msconfig is for debugging only. To reduce your boot times try removing unwanted registry entries and then de-frag it. You'll see what I mean.

  • Why would you want to "Increase" your boot time???

Surely it would be better to be 'Decreasing' start-up time so machine boots faster!!!

  • no download link...

  • sorry about that, added now.

  • increased boot by 5 seconds. but no flashy light disply on startup :[ haha

  • just to let you know in windows 7 the default waittokillservicetimeout is 12000 for me running rc 7100 build.

  • Lol, 3 minutes?!? Mine take less then 12 seconds

    Windows 7.

Phenom II 720 B.E Oc 3.4 Ghz and 4 Gb ram 4890 XOC

  • Well considering that your processor runs at 3.4 ghz and you have 4gb of high frequency ram that's not surprising. Very few have that type of performance though compared to all the people that purchase computers as those generally have lower quality hardware.

  • 3 minutes must be the world-wide average

  • @SkateFraek Hi, I know it's a very late reply. I have similar specs to you but it takes about a minuite for me to boot to win 7. Do you have a SSD by any chance? If so does it make a massive difference and is it worth the cost ? - thanks...

    Ivan

  • @SkateFraek only phenom? lmfao. i7 ownz u bitch! lol anywayz, nice vid quesomanrulz, i only checked this out cos my customer wanted me to have my professional opinion of thisvideo, and tbh, i thinkyou did a pretty impressive job. and glad for everyone else you put the effort into it, oh and if anyone wants to make their laptop a wireless adapter for their xbox just go into run>ncpa.cpl

then just bridge the two connections, then vwallah! once again, nice vid.

  • mine says core 2 duo.

    so 2 processors right

  • wrong.

    two cores.

  • is that an icon of Chris Pirillo you have on your taskbar thingy?

  • That's for his live stream, its a prism app.

  • how to imcrease boot time in my way is in the following steps

    1)turn your computer off

    2)throw it aw ay

    3)get a mac

  • OR get an ssd.... that helps too....

  • You are right, you can INCRESE YOUR BOOT TIME if you get a mac.

  • ok i just put that because i like macs and as a joke to make people made but macintosh shutsdown many many many times faster than windows. Its just a fact. I don't hate windows. windows is ok but a fact is a fact

  • You know, it depends on the hardware, but i guess you wouldn't know that seeing as macs have crappy un upgradeable hardware.

  • the mac pro is considered one of the most powerful pc in the world and many test have shown that windows works best on a mac

And macs do boot faster ass

    you just can't face it

    and you know what

    linux boots fast than mac

    adn windows

    so you can't complain there

  • they dont boot faster. it all depends on the hardware and all you have that comes up on start.

  • Can you improve your spelling if you buy one as well? Just saying....

  • The real way to increase your boot time

    1.)Sell your 1.6ghz 1gb ram 20gb hard drive mac for 1200$

    2.)buy a 3.2ghz 6gb ram 500gb hard drive pc for 800 dollars

3.)enjoy your much faster computer and extra 400$ for a bitchin sound system and 36 inch lcd

  • or you could spend the whole 1200 bucks on a gaming system quad core overclock gaming case, GTX 295, etc.

  • nice facts in the sidebar :) lol

  • excelent men 5/5 stars the video

    bye
