  • I had the same noise with my washer during the spin cycle. With the problem was was that the inner drum is hitting the outer drum at the higher RPMs. The fix for this is to take the agitator out there is a small screw on the side of the agitator. When that comes up, you'll see a spatter not that needs to be removed using a special spanner tool that you can purchase online. I would loosen the nut adjusts the inner bowl so that it is centered and then retype the spatter not. Hope this helps!

  • Its skrillex!

  • To me, it sounds like a hose hitting the outer case....had an old hoover toploader that was making the same sort of noise, when I checked, it turned out to be the filler hoses coming from the solenoids taps for the water hitting the case, would be worth checking....many a washing machine has been discarded for such simple problems!

  • I'm wondering if it could be the balance weight on the transmission

  • what is in the washing mashine?

  • the drum is vibrating cause of the belt have a guy look at it

  • If you go for the bearing kit, get the center seal kit too while you're in there.

  • that banging is loud

  • sound like someone is jerking off at 0.21 ;) and at 0.45, sound like blackhawk helicopter.. lol

  • what's wrong maytag their better then kenmore

  • actually mine did the same thing and it is because all of the clothes are on one side causing the momentum of the weight that when it spins it hits the sides of the washer.

  • i seem to have stumbled apon a bunch of people who know everything about washing machines. youtube is neat.

  • Sounds like the tub bearing. Well worth repairing if the agitator shaft is not badly corroded. Best machines Maytag ever made.

  • mine does the same thing and also shakes! annoying POS. I just replaced the dryer becuz of loud screching noise(it was old and the drum idler was bad)

  • Common problem after 10 to 15 years. Damper pads are worn out, as another commenter mentioned. Pads are available on Ebay and other sources. 1 hour job for a repairman and the machine will be good again for many years.

  • easy fix

  • No "shock" in these old workhorses. There's 3 springs staggered in a triangular pattern. Sounds like a tub bearing problem or one or more of the bolts from the outer tub to the brace is/are loose.

  • im 100% sure thats damper pads, had that same exact noise on my bosch, replaced and now it runs like new, very cheap to buy, even cheaper if u can install them urself!

  • It could also need new damper pads that need to be replaced, which is not an expensive fix.

  • its loose

  • because its unbalanced thats the problem?

  • what was the result of the machine?

  • The machine still has this problem, although it seems to have become much quieter, not sure why... Oh well, it is among 16 other washing machines that are in my collection and doesn't get a ton of use anyway!

  • You Might Have Loose Bolts Which Is Make The Drum Shake Or Is It The Camera Effect?

  • @agitatorjamie 16???? Wow you must have really dirty laundry :) Just kidding

  • for this machine for the problem that is seems to have in this case probably would not be worth it or worth the time to fix it. 1. the expense 2. the age of the machine like 68Elko said the bearing and plus all the the parts needed. better off purchasing a new machine.

  • trust me i used to fix these washers

  • don't listen to those other people i know exactly what the problem is one of the bolts that holds the outer tub together is loose it should work better if you open up the washer and tighten the bolt

  • off balance

  • Comment removed

  • These Maytags have a shtut-off thing that engages when unbalanced, so unless the machine can't detect a slight balance problem unbalanced really isn't the problem .

  • That was a reply to Flight206. The stupid reply button acts like a post comment button for no reason.

  • I am a Maytag repairman and the problem is as madmaytagman1 says it is but more specifically your problem is a bad bearing, to fix it i would say you would need to replace the following:

    outer tub,

    Inner tub,

    Bearing,

possibly at this point you may need a new milk stool kit and snubber ring as well, if you dont fiorx it soon you will then need a tranny as well.

to put it bluntly it will most probably be cheaper to buy a new unit.

  • the problem is the inner tub. you need a spanner wrench to fix it. when the inner tub spins its not centered. and spins off balance. trust me i WAS the maytag man until whirlpool bought maytag and sold us to A&E (sears) factory service. good luck!!!

  • I was told the same thing about mine doing this, but it never fixed it, I was told that I was loading it unevenly, somehow the tub gets out of balance very easy. It kept getting worse to the point you couldn't stand it, I junked it and got a Kenmore made by Whirlpool. My whirlpool has been running fine for about 10 years now. The maytag lasted about 7 years.

  • yeah I know whats wrong with it. My old maytag used to do this. its the one or the three bolts that are screwed in the outer tub of the washer. you just need to tighten them and it will be fine after that.

  • Wow, I like how it builds up. Awsome

  • yeh!!! ;)
