  • This was a very cool mission and a great video reminder, I also remember hearing about footprint trails being visible from the apollo mission. old post but a good one ty :)

  • Although Google uses the word satellite, most of the high-resolution imagery is aerial photography taken from aircraft flying at 800–1500 feet rather than from satellites.

  • The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera, has a resolution of about half a meter. That means that a half-meter square on the Moon's surface would fill a single pixel in its digital images.

Apollo moon buggies are about 2 meters wide and 3 meters long. So in the LROC images, those abandoned vehicles will fill about 4 by 6 pixels.

  • Dude, go back to remedial English classes, PLEASE.You are a product of the dumbed down school systems in the world. You are an example of the new world order slave. Well done. Google Earth is produced from satellites. How does an airplane produce a picture of the entire planet? How many damn planes would it take to map the entire planet or produce not only images of the landmasses but the ocean floor? It is pointless even responding to truly stupid people but alas, I am forced to over and over.

  • By the way the quote about satellites came from Wikipedia on their Google Earth page. That is what you do when you back up statements with documentation, facts or at least an attempt to show you have done your homework. Something you probably never did in school but instead went out and drank beer and hooted like a monkey at girls. Or if you are a girl which I doubt you were being a slut instead of reading a book.

  • A kid with a laptop can look at google earth and see a car sitting in a parking lot anywhere on the planet from "both geostationary and low Earth-orbiting satellites" or even a penis cut in the grass of Hazelton Pa. high school's football field and then check out his own house in 3D to see if his junglegym is still in the backyard. NASA however can't show you a lunar lander's base, a couple of lunar rover cars or the miles of tracks they made let alone a footprint as q NASA shill claims in 2008

  • @angstotheclown really you IQ warrior? just think that google earth was created by pictures from PLANES flying a few hundreds of meters high, while the moon is in average 360 000 kms far... are you some 10 years old blockhead? on the othe hand go and check the pictures the LRO took, you can clearly see there the traces the astronauts and the rovers left...

damn, if there would be knowledge...

  • @angstotheclown

That's because the moon is 240,000 miles away dumbass.

  • @TheJomogogo

JESUS FUCK YOU ARE THICK AS A BRICK. The satellite was orbiting the moon. The LRO isn't an airplane flying around the earth. It is a few miles above the moons surface. The images should be as good or better than the google images of earth WHICH ARE SHOT FROM A SATELLITE ORBITING THE EARTH. Seriously, you people are so ill informed, so sadly uneducated, so dull and without the capability of critical thinking. You and your kind deserve what is coming. The jew bankers own you.

  • @angstotheclown

ARE YOU FUCKING THAT DUMB? the majority of urban "satellite" image on Google maps are aerial photos taken by aircrafts with high resolution cameras flying 800 feet altitude, you comparing that to LRO?!?! more then 31 miles altitude?... the Majority of the land mass taken by real satellite are just 2D image no better then the LRO, not to mention google has a huge network of satellites to get data from. its clear who is the ill informed dumbass and lacks critical thinking.

  • @angstotheclown A few miles!! you mean 31 miles, you try taking a picture of a object that far away.

  • @TheJomogogo You morons just don't get it do you? Satellite orbits the moon, CLOSE TO THE MOON IN ORBIT AROUND THE MOON NOT THE EARTH. SATELLITE TAKES SHITTY PICS OF THE MOON. NO LANDING SITES. DOCTORED PHOTOS SHOWING NOTHING. GET IT? Ferfucksake.

  • @angstotheclown

if its "doctored photoes" why does it show "nothing" you think NASA don't know how to use photoshop? the LRO was able to take pictures of the footprint trails of the mission... who do you think left those? moon cows? dumb ass...

  • @angstotheclown at the orbit those pictures were taken its 4 feet per pixel, the Apollo platform is 12 diameter... that is just 9 pixels. that is about what the photo's did show, the CURRENT orbit change from a elliptical to near circular, at 31mile altitude, it will take ALLOT more fly bys to reach the landing sites, because its covering less ground per orbit, they are not there for the landing sites . maybe you should get some facts down before you go around spewing retard juice on everyone.

  • man has NO been to the moon, it is all fake, it was film on a set, my fiend davis work at the spaceport and he tell me ALL the secrets ;-)

  • This is Cosmic Vandalism. Stop it NOW. Mankind will reap the negative repercussions.

  • at this point its irritating to see trolls repeat the same shit over and over. our best telescope the Hubble with 2.4 metres mirror and a limited angular resolution of 0.059 arcseconds. which is 360ft when viewing at the moon. so unless the equipment left on the moon is 360 across it will appear less then a pixel of Grey dot. the LRO spacecraft DID took picture of those equipment from oribt, even show footprint trails left there 40+ years ago. why only uneducated people think we never land?

  • @ccaptorchen Me no understand you bad english. go school back study hardly okey dokey? Moron.

  • @angstotheclown

hi there.. go fuck yourself.. do you understand that? how is that for bad english? do they teach you that in school? maybe just ask around next time on the short bus, and get yourself check for neural parasite

  • Never tell your parents you think the moon landings were faked cwazykid, they will cry when they see how weird and stupid you are.

  • Yeah, I wouldnt do that. I dont know why I posted that comment that day. I guess I was just mad that the photographs they put out there concerning the current state of the moon lander equipment were small and out of focus and you all together really shity. Sorry science, I take it back. :)

  • @TheJomogogo LOL.. ur right for the 1st time i read a true and funny comment LOL..

  • @Cwazykidd the russians tracked the whole mission. back then, we hated eachother

  • exelente, para que la humanidad se entere de que en el interior de la luna hay agua e infraestruturas lunares de mas de 2500 años de antiguedad y fosiles

  • Who tilted the camera up to follow the blast off from the moon surface on Apollo 11 ?

  • yeaaaah that's a good question!!

  • that was an awful question...

  • the camera stand itself..... you think they get to the moon but were not able to move a camera automatically? NASA was at its cutting edge of technology in those years... you think they can't figure out how to do that?

  • No one because on Apollo 11 there was no camera there to "follow the blast off". You're mixing it up with the later missions starting with Apollo 15 which had a remote controlled video camera on the Lunar Rover.

  • I'm so tired of all that sugar pep talk. Go there and prove it this time.. we have had enough of your violins and PR

  • There seems to be an attempt to associate the alien artifact/lunar base question with the apollo hoax people.

Obviously, these ate two different issues. As far as I can tell, the alien base proponents do not dabble in the apollo hoax theories.

I hope the LRO delivers everything it promises but i would not bet on it.

  • NASA LRO Launch Delayed so that the air force can launch their experimental space plane.

    That's a load of Bull!

And all of this time, I thought that this country had two space ports.

  • The alien artifacts question will not go away until sub 10m resolution images are made available to the public.

    Jaxa gave us almost nothing

    China? zero

    India? not much

So, I bet to ANYONE is $1000 that either the 1M camera will malfunction, the orbiter will be delayed, or the orbiter will be completely destroyed.

After this happens, people like Phil Plait, Seth Shostack, Michael Shermer, etc. will parrot NASA's official story.

The military has already delayed the launch.Look it up

  • I could not have said it better myself.

In fact, I was about to say the thing until I read the comments.

  • Thank you. I put posts up but it seems that the vast majority of people think its just great that we have almost zero good images of the lunar surface.

Its nice to hear that others are suspicious as well.

  • You crazy nut jobs are hilarious. Thanks for the laughs. :)

  • two billion years of reflected blue-green light reflected off this planet has gone unnoticed?

    Seriously?

What kind of solipsist are you exactly? A religious person perhaps who thinks the universe was created with YOU in mind?

  • "two billion years of reflected blue-green light reflected off this planet has gone unnoticed?"

As far as every piece of evidence suggests - Yup.

    "Seriously?"

    Yup.

Thanks for playing, but you fail. :)

  • you forgot "solipsist" Yup! You are!

"every piece of evidence suggests" wow, you don't know your ass from hot rocks on this subject. Try reading ufo reporting center cases for starters.

You are frighteningly ignorant. people like you think ET will land on the white house lawn.

This makes about as much sense as hillary clinton establishing formal relations with the kombi tribe of new guinea - a stone age culture that offers nothing other than a cultural curiosity.

  • "you forgot "solipsist" Yup! You are!"

I know you are but what am I? :)

"Try reading ufo reporting center cases for starters."

They're all BS. Nice try, but fail. Call me when you find some REAL evidence.

    "You are frighteningly ignorant."

Sorry, no, you're confusing me for yourself. That can be easy for someone so stupidly deluded.

"people like you think ET will land on the white house lawn."

And people like you stay up all night wishing they'd land on your lawn.

  • "They're all BS" ?

Every UFO case EVER is BS?

So, you've read each case? So confident but so ignorant. Christian are you? Muslim? or Academic?

Are you the former head of the NSA? CIA? US Air Force Space Command? Naval Intelligence? National Reconnaissance Office? United States Army Foreign Science and Technology Center?

You sound like a religious kook who thinks it was all made for "ME". typical overdeveloped sense of ego. BTW astronomy doesn't own this subject, so you fail :)

  • "Every UFO case EVER is BS?"

Yup. :) I'm glad you finally understand. :)

  • i think you have some patological illness for speaking and arguing like an 8 years old children

  • You think that, but then you feel the need to reply to me ... If I'm an "8 year old child", what does that make you? ;)

  • lol, that's what they said about Giordano Bruno prior to burning him naked, alive in Rome in 1600 AD.

    One of the accusations was:

"Claiming the existence of a plurality of worlds and their eternity."

I'm sure closed minded loons like you dream every night that you could light the match.

  • This is a wonderful video! I am familiar with this project...and I think it is such a great project to work on. Thanks for sharing this!

  • do you know if the LRO will take pictures of the old landing sites to prove to the hoaxers that we were there? Because i hate hoaxers!

  • I really hope so, and according to Wikipedia LRO will provide "High-resolution mapping (max 0.5 m) to assist in the selection and characterization of future landing sites".

Since Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter could see Spirit and Opportunity on the surface, I doubt there's any reason why LRO won't be able to see Apollo.

NASA don't seem to say about it on LRO's website, but then I guess they don't want to advertise LRO as proving what they did in the past.

  • thanks!

  • Actually, just found a NASA link - LRO will *definitely* photograph Apollo. And you'll be able to see the LEMs and rovers extremely clearly! This is gonna be fantastic, I really can't wait. In a way, this announcement in itself is proof of the landings (I don't need it, but some people do) - there is no way NASA can get up fake LEMs/rovers by August. Goodbye hoaxers! Time to give up day 'job'!

  • Here's the link: tinyurl[.]com[/]yzobxu

  • thanks!

  • The hoaxer question is old and anoying.

I hope the LRO images the Apollo sites to shut up that crowd, just like the MRO did to the face on mars theories. - took the wind right out of their sails.

But, something is up on the back side of the moon in my opinion.

It is bizaro that there are 3 orbiters and what do we get for images? The MRO images are beautiful, detailed, exquisite.

The lunar images are....best quality is still from 30 years ago. Why?

  • Oh, I forgot. The Japanese know NOTHING about making digital cameras. So we can't expect much. shhhhaaaa

  • Its called sarcasm. The Japanese make the finest cameras, but still nothing from jaxa, other than members of the japanese executive branch stating that they believe in ufo's right about the time when jaxa reached lunar orbit. Isn't that special.
