my mom got me into queensryche and all growing up they were always played operation mind crime is still my fav album... thanks mom... and thanks too all the heavy metal moms who got there kids into this.. 2nd generation metal head and proud of it... the 80s were lucky.. the metal was great and long hair was so in!!!!
@nickhaze1, that's cool, good to know you didn't miss out on Queensryche. Make sure you check out Queensryche's other great songs too, which is pretty much everything of theirs. I'm an old lady now, but when and if the day comes that Guitar Hero or Rock Band puts Operation: Mindcrime or QR's Greatest Hits on their system, I will give in and buy the works, and woe to those who think they will beat me. lol ; ) RYCHE ON!
When i was a year old back in "91" me and my parents went on our first vacation to Myrtle Beach in SC and there was a place that did like videos and stuff and we made a music video to this song, we still got it laying around the house somewhere, thumbs up for last 20 years of rockin out with Queensryche
i wouldnt call this heavy...i didnt even back in the day when i listened to ryche.....but its 10000x better than the shit that gets air time these days.
joe elliot of def lepard said geoff tate disgusted him because his voice was so perfect it usually took only 1-2 takes for him to get the voice tracks right whereas elliot's sessions resembled a marathon. sounds about right to me.what a voice.
@jr55ful I can believe that, Geoff Tate could be an opera singer, because of the quality of his voice. Thank God he became a hard rocker. I regret never seeing them in concert!
@1falconeye2 shit i have seen them in concert, flagstaff arizona baby. it was outdoors and perfect outside. i think they played just a little better than usual that day, either that or the beer was hitting just rite cuz it was awesome!
@Klanshu, Hi, not sure what you are stating here. Did you see Geoff on a solo tour, maybe? Because the core of the band (Wilton, Rockenfield, Jackson) have always been by Geoff's side since QR's inception with the exception of Chris DeGarmo who left sometime in the 90's. QR brings in a new guitarest every now and then to fill that void (which to hardcore QR fans, will never happen, unless it's actually DeGarmo). Such a shame that Whip, Scott, & Eddie get overlooked for their talents. RYCHE ON!
mein...They were awesome in concert! Just as clear and crisp as their recordings! Unlike most bands live! I wish I could go back in time! But hey- there are some great bands out there now, just not in mainstream, gotta really search them out.
not bad, I actually like this song. but really like some Zepplin, Queen, Bob Seger. I too, tire of politics in my music. Music should be fun! An outlet! But hey, different is good.:)
Justin Beiber, Hannah Montana, Jonas Fagsters, and Big Time Rush fuck you all! This is real music, and justin beiber you sound like a 6 year old girl.
ehh, don't know why, but Queensryche always bored the hell out of me.... I think it has to do with them trying to make political statements with their songs. Always found that incredibly lame.
Its sad that some singers cant even hit these notes and there famous.I wanna give a shout out to the jonas fags and hannah montana for fucking up the music industry.
@randy6335 ...yea bro that era is defiantly gone but never to be forgotten..the new music today just does not have the same effect or WOW like the mid 80's early 90's metal or any of that era's music for that matter... I am 38 now and every time an old memory of a great party or good time comes flashing back it is either triggered by or I can remember a bad ass tune that goes with it
i seen these guys LIVE in Austin Texas when i was 17 years old...they opened for Metalica...those where the dayze ...unfortunately due to pharmaceutical overload I don't remember all the concert...but I know I had fun !!!!!!!!!! (my girlfriend told me the next day)
im late with my birth for a decade at least....music of the 70's and 80's has always been my favorite....including other genres as well.....But throughout my highschool i listened bands like Queensryche,Dream Theater,Skid Raw, etc......
When are you people going to ever wake up and understand that the MAN controls everything! Just like Jack Black says in the School of Rock.... Rock was created to protest the MAN to stick it to the MAN where it don't shine. Of course the MAN has now unfortunately learned how to exploit and make money off it, but, that's what the MAN does.
Beautiful ballad!!!! If you've ever been in love you can understand the longing in this song. Everything done perfectly in this one!!! Geoff Tate ROCKS!!!!
Wow this song brings back memories. You can sense the excitement in her returning. That's one reason I love Queensryche so much, Just the feeling you get from their lyrics and music.
okay ladies ... how about the video.. is good ,the music is great ,the lyrics are what I would write if i could,,a group that has surpassed sooo many genres...
Back then I didn't know his name was pronounced Jeff. I insisted to a friend it was pronounced Goe ef, walked around insisting on the wrong pronunciation.
There's still music with meaning. It only seems you are listening to things that are widely known after some years, music and bands that have become common knowledge, classic, known anyway. That's a proccess that takes time. You can always SEARCH for stuff that are in their beginning. Music is still alive. Some of you guys though aren't...
The music industry is controlled by the marketing people. If your arse looks good enough, can hum a tune that can be sampled, then you'll have a contract,no talent required! If the said arse is big enough, they may throw a few stickers on it and put it on tv. Real music as we know it lives on in Youtube and in our memories. Long live QUEENSRYCHE!
I couldn't agree more.... Lots of no talent smucks on the airwaves. One problem with you analysis is that good as they are Queensryche was a product of that corpoarate music industry..... one of the few gems to survive the "bean counters".
i wish i could have lived when music had meaning instead of talkin about fucking bitches and smackin hoes.gah.music is horrible nowadays and its like you cant do anything about it!!! lady gaygay and fall out of the chair, faggot suck fish booty!!!! i wish i could've lived in my moms and dads generation and grow up in the 80's.mannnnnn,i bet they were good in concert though.i'd kill to see the :)
@meinschatzie my dad saw these guys live a couple of times. But if i could go to anyplace in time, i would go to Woodstock 1969 and then Woodstock 1994
@meinschatzie Instead of bitchin' about how music sucks, we can all learn how to play guitar/bass/drums and revive the great music! You know, when you talk about those pop suckers, you're actually spreading the word about 'em. I haven't heard about Justin Bieber until like everyone mentioned how crappy he is, same with Lady Gaga, FallOut boy etc... Just don't give a fuck and focus on true music, we will win! ;)
I'm very close to Seattle. Nothing unique has come from here lately. Hendrix was original - Kobane was not the best, just found on more stages and back alleys.
@Kahnivorous Meh unfortunately Seattle is no longer the hub for music. You can thank those corporate assholes who try to pass people like Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga as real music. Its sad really, I wish I could have grown up in the 70's and 80's so I wouldn't have to be ear raped by today's music. Long live Queensryche, ACDC, Nirvana, ZZ Top, Queen, and all the other geniuses who TRULY revolutionized music.

I did grow up in the 70's/80's and your 100% right it's all studio crap more or less and the more whorish you look/act the more corporate music will spend to make you a hit. Do have to give props to 3 Doors Down though, they are unbelieveable live. Brad Arnold can tear it up and give you your moneys worth. Probably couple others but agree on Miley Gag.
@PsuedoNam growing up in the 70's and 80's was a blast! I hate what corporate assholes and cable news have done to this country. All of the fun is gone, now it's all about money.
@deraickripper nirvana is fucking amazing. just because they wrote simple music and were popular doesn''t mean that they were a bad band, they played with far more emotion than most bands, and dave grohl is a fucking sick drummer
@PsuedoNam just to add to your comments,I almost feel sorry for this generation...the music they enjoy today, they hate tomorrow(with good reason),the music we enjoyed 20 years ago we still enjoy...
@PsuedoNam Amen, how can they even like that blonde with too much glitter and lizzard lips gaga? Plus: if you like TRUE true music and killer guitar talent: then listen to Stevie Ray Vaughan. I recomend "Life by the drop" video owned by dingo91
the girls in my favorite "go-go bar" use to play this frequently on the jukebox, and really crank-up hot to this song...
to bad the gov was scandalized by this bar when she came into AC Intl Airport one day (they had a big sign on the roof of the bar at the airport circle...and...and...now the bar is a restaurant called Christi's... named after the ex-gov I'm sure...anyway, that's where I first heard it about ten years ago... man, those girls could really crank up to it...
BallsMahonie, now hold up. I ABSOLUTLY LOVE Queensryche, I own every album, but I gotta hand it to dream theater, They have coverd just about every song there is, and they almost do it better then the original version. Still Queensryche has all of the song that hold the best messages and meanings. Dream theater is like, They hold the best musicianship. Sorry for the spelling. They both kick soo much ass. Peace to all!
This whole album is awesome. It is one of probably 3 albums that I can sit down and listen to the whole thing without skipping a track. Awesome music!
Its really is a perfect song. Tate's hauntingly beautiful voice which express the passion filled lyrics, stellar guitar work that builds to a heart stopping solo and appropriately pounding rhythm section. Starts slow and builds the listener to a emotional fever pitch. A glorious piece of work.

@PsuedoNam
And we are glad that we are no longer the hub for music..we never wanted to be in the first place..
Now we can focus on putting out music that we want to..Its nice to be under the radar.

@angel2rx My God. She is a complete waste. It annoys me to even see her. She's pitiful.

the girls in my favorite "go-go bar" use to play this frequently on the jukebox, and really crank-up hot to this song...
to bad the gov was scandalized by this bar when she came into AC Intl Airport one day (they had a big sign on the roof of the bar at the airport circle...and...and...now the bar is a restaurant called Christi's... named after the ex-gov I'm sure...anyway, that's where I first heard it about ten years ago... man, those girls could really crank up to it...
