@rogharm : Yes, the Rudy Vallee version is a bit more rhythmic. The time Carroll Gibbons lead the Savoy Orpheans the interpretations had become restrained in comparison to the late 1920s recordings which are much better.
I love this recording. His signature tune. I have been out looking for this 78 for a while....maybe one day. I love to still hear the faint crackling of the recording. it must have been great in those days to have been able to wander in and enjoy, if you were privileged of course.
A great track and once again remastered to perfection. you can't beat the 30s for me. The great thing and the cream in my coffee is that although the quality is good in the background nothing of the vintage crackling sound is taken away making all these records in the truest sense pure nostalgia for all us british dance band lovers. Thanks for taking the time to transfer the recordings.
GOD, I hate to ask, But is there anyway to repost this AWESOME recording? You did such a wonderful job posting it just to have the end cut off. This is just BEAUTIFUL.
This was one of my first videos uploaded. The original video is complete but the same video in YouTube is some seconds shorter. In all my later uploads all videos have 10-20 seconds silence after the song ended so i can be sure that they will be played completely on YT....sorry for that but it's not my fault....
fabulous looking for the rudy vallee version which heard years ago and recored on 7 inch real but tape player broke. this arrangement IS MUCH BETTER THAN VALLEE version. the words are different but i like them ***** ROGHARM great post!!! nice brass section.
Hi guys, i'm wondering why it seems to be complicated to get this recording because as far as i remember this is the signature tune of the Savoy Orpheans in the 1930s and had been sold in large numbers...? Enjoy listening !
I love this...I grew up in a Big Band family. This is bliss. Does anyone know who is doing the vocal on this arrangement? I would really appreciate it as well as the year of the recording, which I have at home, with no year printed on it.
Excelente debe ser de 1922 - 1936

He recorded it 3 times in the 1930s,Gibbons was to me a bland musician, but an underrated composer
