Why does he speak in code to Merrill as if the alien understands English? Why not just say, "Merrill knock the living hell out of this alien with your old baseball bat!"
@FearTheDarkness101 Well, Earlier in the movie, morgan said something about the aliens not favoring physical combat, so it makes sense that it couldn't fight hand-to-hand as it was probably confused as to what was happening. but thats just what i think

And no, I don't mean the actor in the suit or CGI animated character.. Hopefully you can gather some deeper insight into what I mean. If you watch that film again sometime, watch how integral each & EVERY character and moment is up to the very moment Merrill realizes who he really is. Every moment in their LIVES built up to this. Perfect
I would have beat the brakes off that alien....once I realized it didn't have any weapons. They don't seem all that tough. No claws, no sharp teeth. In fact it didn't seem to be capable of fighting back at all outside of its sissy gas. Nothing at all like the aliens in "War of the Worlds" with their vamporizing beams and their giant indestructible tripods.

@syhn303 I agree with that kind of. However, he seems to immediate perceive the threat and aggressive undertones of the gesture AS SOON as Merill grabs his bat. He immediately plays his only card, and shoots his poison into Morgans face. Which to me says it definitely knows what's going on, but for some reason, chooses not to fight back, or simply cannot because it doesn't know how.
As a baseball fan, I was devastated when he broke that bat... :'(
