The kid they have now gots lot of energy, he can get a good lick in time, ull see. Hes jus gotta slow down, then rip it up. Thats wht i like about the new kid they got.
guys i think we are forgetting something, josh is doing alot for the chili peppers, he is brining his own sound the band, and in no way have i noticed him trying to imitate john. John and Josh are good friends and i wish all the luck to him
John is seriously the best guitarist alive today. There may be some quicker guitarists, but when it comes to melodic and soulful music, John's all over it. Klinghoffer sucks and I can't stand the new album. He tries too hard to imitate John and he fails miserably. It's like comparing a dodge neon to a ferrari.
I dont know i mean john is my favorite guitarist but jimi created alot of new music that had never been heard in that time. Johns style is a little more progressive i would say then jimi's.
Oh shut up. As if you know what makes someone a "real" musician. Who the fuck are you to judge? You have no more authority than the Chili Peppers fans that you are attacking. It's all about taste. No, neither Flea or John are specifically technically impressive, but what they lack in technique they make up for in feel and creativity. It's FUN to listen to them play together. It sounds good. Music is about expressing yourself, and you're a joke if you think they're not doing that.
@Romans10Verse9 dude. all i was saying was that it was an overstatement comparing him to hendrix. then i got shit, then i decided to spit it back in some digital faces. who cares. there are so many simple and non-technically proficient solos that are comprised of different or more expressive notes. just sayin. its not about technique, and hes not bad. he just doesnt deserve all the godliness people seem to be assigning him, about being the best since 1980 and all that dumb hogwash.
I am payed to play too, it doesn't mean you know the right and wrong ways to play music. I can see by your comments that you know a lot of music theory. That's good and all, but if that's all you focus on when playing/critiquing music then I am certain I would hate to play with you. If you don't have feel, your music will get very boring to me very fast. I don't care if you could copy frusciante's solo. Most people could, but feel counts more than anything else in my opinion.
I wouldn't say he's a Jimi either, but I do like his own original sound more than most Pop musicians out there. Comparing him to Hendrix isn't something I would agree with, but that's mostly because I appreciate his sound. If you get a chance you should check out the jams that Flea and John played with Omar Rodriguez from the Mars Volta. I'll send you a link.
@Romans10Verse9 for sure. in the pop world, he is one of the few that still has a soul and actually plays from it. but these people have a warped perception and i am just trying to shed some reality on their comparisons to hendrix and whatever. its retarded. if he was the hendrix of today, you all would be on LSD, as would he, and he would be playing some of the most psychedelic shit you have ever heard.
@37sikora u obviously know nothing about rhcp or john frusciante if u say they have only a pop music. go listen album blood sugar sex magik or anything before. and u know nothing about guitar when u say he plays like 16 year old. he is the most uniqe musican ever. and that is a fact. deal with it

I can agree with the idea that this isn't a good solo. But John Frusciante has much better solo's than this one. This does not mean that you have to insult John for being a worse fake version of Jimi Hendrix. So please stop holding stupid this stupid discussions! @ohgravity1000 No one will ever compare to Jimi Hendrix's skill, sorry to say... Especially with this new generation coming up. It's hard to find new talented people nowadays lmao.
@holkemann dude. download hendrix's entire discography, listen to everything he has done. john frusciante cant even hold a flame to hendrix's improvisational ability, his songwriting skill, his versatility, and just overall visionary qualities. frusciante picked up the right values, but if this is the best he can do after 20 years of professional playing its not nearly where i bet hendrix would have reached as a player. he was about to start playing with miles and mclaughlin.
But obviously I can't have my personal preferences! Good bye internet. I hope you can restore faith in humanity while I'm gone, cause it's clearly not a chance now!
@37sikora Ever heard "Still got the blues" by Gary Moore? Then you should know it's based totally off of the pentatonic scale, so I guess he played at the level of a 16 year old aswell. LOTS of guitarists uses the pentatonic scale.. and so what, if it sounds great then who the fuck cares.. It's not HOW you play it, it's how it feels that matter. Lots of solos that are technically masterpieces, can still sound like shit or just overdone.
@Snoppskalle93 dude. sorry. i have played guitar for 20 years. im only 26 and i could school you to death on modal theory. and you are completely wrong about gary moores song. that is not pentatonic at all. sure you could be lazy and play pentatonic over it, and it will work, in a min (if my tuning is correct at the moment), but it goes to harmonic minor, and adds plenty of minor 6ths of a, which would also be a 4th on a c major in the chorus. 6ths and 2nds are left out of a pentatonic scale
@Snoppskalle93 and the 2nd is evident in much of melody and guitar solo, especially on the major five, when the seventh is also augmented. min pentatonic is root-minor 3rd - 4th-5th- flat 7th- root. thats 5 notes- "penta"tonic scale. when you add the 6th and the 2nd, it is no longer pentatonic, there is also a c maj pentatonic that shares the min 6th of a (f) (also the 4th of c). the 2 really stops the possibility of using only the min or maj pentatonic.i heard all that by listening to 1 min
@holkemann Fruesciante is no hendrix but not because his solos suck (which they dont) its because there two different people with two different styles. They are only similer in because his use in wah wah pedals and the some of the sound (not the funk). Jimi is definantly not the best guitar player niether is john. even if jimi wasnt there there would still be john just with a little difference. jimi was only a small influence to his style
@37sikora this is not his best solo lol, same goes for u, go listen all of john frusciante staff, with rhcp, solo, and more importantly check his live shows with rhcp. he isnt voted for no reason the best guitarist since 1980.
@HerrSimonson oh dude I can't believe you're still using the "give him a chance" argument, they released their album 6 months ago and he played a lot of shows. and sincerely I'd prefer no RHCP at all than the new album, it's just awful.
@everlyredhot im using this comment because hes a young guy and its his first album with the chili peppers! i know that the album is not as god as the ones with john, but he's gonna learn a lot and make it better in the next album!!! i hope you know what i mean :)
@HerrSimonson yeah man I get your point, but Josh has never been a great guitar player, don't think he'll play like John just because he's in the same band than him, John is a guitar and a musical genius, Josh is just "good" on guitar, I prefer him on drums by far... don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he's a bad guitarist, he's just not as great as John was, and that's not about on how many albums he'll play with the peppers ;)
Don't compare John to Jimi, John created his own sound which many people have fallen in love with, and the same with Hendrix. They are two of the many guitar gods out there that made what music is! (im talking about you BB King, John Mayer, Jeff Buckley, Jimmy Page, and many more)
@MrNirvanerd There are many things wrong with this statement. This guy (whom I've only seen 45 seconds of and can already tell) if merely a hendrix copier. He may not have Hendrix's sound exactly, but that doesn't mean he's trying to create his own sound. He's trying to get as close as he can to Jimi. And as good as John Mayer is, he really hasn't done a lot for music other than sneak a little blues back into pop culture.
@jonahtran1 I bet you, that you listen to Hendrix and came across this video because of the title. As you've previously stated, you don't even listen to john frusciante, therefore you haven't heard all of John's music (with the chili peppers and solo) and so your opinion on John is invalid. As for John Mayer, he stringed notes & chords like i haven't heard before, inspiring me and the way i think of music.
@MrNirvanerd Doesn't matter. I know a Hendrix copier when I see one. He's kinda forcing the "sloppiness" (that don't get me wrong was perfect to my ears) that Hendrix did a lot in his playing. And yeah, John Mayer is good. I'm not saying that. But none of his stuff (especially his blues stuff) is necessarily "new." He comes from mainly a mix of SRV and Jimi Hendrix along with other, much older blues guys.
@onrcpr it would be cool but john said he wouldnt wana make money that way and honestly they would prolly get so annoyed making the scratches that many times over and over no matter if it were his 55,62 or olympic white strat lol
@onrcpr you might as well just buy a 1962 strat reissue then, thats his most used guitar, but he also used a 1962 red jaguar, a 1957 grestch white falcon, a 1968 les paul custom and other strats (1950's martin 0-15 for acoustic stuff) mostly the 1962 sunburst strat though
@onrcpr no we don't. john will never support this. it's impossible to recreate the vintage sound he has without having a vintage instrument. if he had his own signature model it wouldn't reflect his sound.
@jensbond93 You should have seen the day before, here in Rio de Janeiro ... I'll never forget the guitar solo on "I Could Have Lied" ... Unfortunately, the Rio show was not televised.
@GRRJayyy exactly, john is magical and great and i listen to him 5 hours a day, while im doing homework and he is the greatest, not only guitarists but musician of the past 41 years, since hendrix who was the innovator/creator and a
ultimate master and hendrix was and still is the greatest musicians there has been for centuries. since Johann Sebastian Bach. they are all the pinnacles of mankind and show that although mankind has no limits, these musicians are the limits at the same time. :)
@GRRJayyy then frusciante, is not your favorite guitarist, you just said that ,for not to receive critics of people of what you said about jimi hendrix....i said this because i did the same.......in a live video of november rain..i put...im gonna be honest, slash is my favorite guitarist but john frusciante is way better than him, as guitarist and as a musician.
@giaffir34 no john is still my favourite guitarist. I prefer listening to John and i prefer his songs. However, what Jimi did with a guitar no one else can do, i see him as really someone entirely unique and when you look at the way he plays and his songs are written you realize how far ahead he was than all guitarists even to this day. and dont say i said it to not recieve critics. Check my channel dude, i've got every chilis song ever on my itunes and i've read Scar tissue twice :)
John is a great guitarist! Let him have his own mantle its the least we can do! Musicians shouldn't be compared, everyone has their own beauty to give!
As far as John being Hendrix of today i fully the implications and the reason behind it but i think John is John and Jimi is Jimi beautiful guitarists but no one wants to live in someone else's name. I would hate being referred to as the next or the new because theirs only one you.
did anyone else think john had a transformer on his chest in the preview pic?

@jonahtran1 I bet you, that you listen to Hendrix and came across this video because of the title. As you've previously stated, you don't even listen to john frusciante, therefore you haven't heard all of John's music (with the chili peppers and solo) and so your opinion on John is invalid. As for John Mayer, he stringed notes & chords like i haven't heard before, inspiring me and the way i think of music.
Become a credited musician before criticizing ...
MrNirvanerd 1 month ago

2112frusciante 2 months ago
eerrrr he is a don but dont ever put him near hendrix. no way in shit does anyone come close
theSPECIALbrew74 3 months ago
one of us will need to take a lot more drugs (either john frusciante or me) before he sounds anything like jimi hendrix IMO
Stockwrock 3 months ago
@Stockwrock Clearly you don't know just how much heroin John used to go through.
dextermijit 3 months ago
@dextermijit dont shit .. both of you !!! John Is John !
ThefirstPirate 3 months ago
@Stockwrock Why the fuck do you have to compare John with Jimi?
They're not the same. Different playing styles and sounds.
Both are awesome, but I prefere John's playing!

onrcpr 4 months ago 144
@onrcpr no we dont... thats so tacky dude cmon. john is too good for that and you know it thats why he denies fenders ass everytime they ask
joneill822 4 months ago
@onrcpr you might as well just buy a 1962 strat reissue then, thats his most used guitar, but he also used a 1962 red jaguar, a 1957 grestch white falcon, a 1968 les paul custom and other strats (1950's martin 0-15 for acoustic stuff) mostly the 1962 sunburst strat though
Noseheros 3 months ago
@onrcpr That wouldn't make a whole lot of sense, considering he only plays vintage guitars...
xxMMxKIDxx 3 months ago
@onrcpr fender made him a deal many years ago but john declined it
jonas9009 3 months ago
@jonas9009 He never wanted to be famous. Doubt he wanted to be on the rolling stones list.
1Sifting 3 months ago
@onrcpr get a classic 60s strat. the nearest you come to john's strat unless you buy a real early 60s strat of course.

@onrcpr no, we don't.

@onrcpr No, we don't, signatures are for posers
xdearfromxxx 3 months ago
@xdearfromxxx "signatures are for posers" that's what a poser would say
PRISI0NER0123 3 months ago
@onrcpr no we don't. john will never support this. it's impossible to recreate the vintage sound he has without having a vintage instrument. if he had his own signature model it wouldn't reflect his sound.
markbooher1 3 months ago 2
@onrcpr If you want Johns guitar, buy Fender Vintage 62' and put in Seymour Duncan PU's!

I'd really want to know what Jimi would think of John.
TheGroumpfy 4 months ago
@TheGroumpfy it wouldnt be possible because johns guitar playing was mainly learned from jimis he's said it many times.
seifs4 4 months ago
@seifs4 Yeah, that's why I'm wondering what Jimi would think of John.
TheGroumpfy 4 months ago
sorry lets be honest for a second, johns my fav guitarist, i love him so much, but jimi was untouchable.
GRRJayyy 4 months ago
@GRRJayyy exactly, john is magical and great and i listen to him 5 hours a day, while im doing homework and he is the greatest, not only guitarists but musician of the past 41 years, since hendrix who was the innovator/creator and a
ultimate master and hendrix was and still is the greatest musicians there has been for centuries. since Johann Sebastian Bach. they are all the pinnacles of mankind and show that although mankind has no limits, these musicians are the limits at the same time. :)
Pitamar1 4 months ago
@Pitamar1 could agree more !!
GRRJayyy 4 months ago
@GRRJayyy then frusciante, is not your favorite guitarist, you just said that ,for not to receive critics of people of what you said about jimi hendrix....i said this because i did the same.......in a live video of november rain..i put...im gonna be honest, slash is my favorite guitarist but john frusciante is way better than him, as guitarist and as a musician.
giaffir34 3 months ago
@giaffir34 no john is still my favourite guitarist. I prefer listening to John and i prefer his songs. However, what Jimi did with a guitar no one else can do, i see him as really someone entirely unique and when you look at the way he plays and his songs are written you realize how far ahead he was than all guitarists even to this day. and dont say i said it to not recieve critics. Check my channel dude, i've got every chilis song ever on my itunes and i've read Scar tissue twice :)

Jimi Hendrix die in 1970, year of the born of John... Lol

He's alsom. But Jimi was an inventer. Anyways just listen.
okb09 4 months ago
John is a great guitarist! Let him have his own mantle its the least we can do! Musicians shouldn't be compared, everyone has their own beauty to give!
As far as John being Hendrix of today i fully the implications and the reason behind it but i think John is John and Jimi is Jimi beautiful guitarists but no one wants to live in someone else's name. I would hate being referred to as the next or the new because theirs only one you.
