  • WHERE ARE THE FUCKING TABS

  • @coenwooldrik Doe is normaal vent. Er zijn geen tabs, niet bij mij in elk geval.

  • @coenwooldrik You really are a pratt. This guy took the time to give you a free lesson and all you can do is complain, idiot. There is no tab, learn it from the video or take up playing the triangle.

  • Easy peasy, .learn this and then adapt it...

  • u dont get tought how to play duelling banjo's, you pick it up from playing it with other people

  • does anyone know a banjo tab site :p

  • Folks, If you can't figure it out yourselves, you should realise maybe you ain't that musical!

  • Thanks so much for the upload chap, you feel really good when you acctually study a video and teach yourself!

    Once again thanks!! :)

  • This is brilliant thanks - am learning it from this. One question - you slide the 3rd string from 2nd fret to 3rd, but I can't get the same sound unless I slide up to 4th. Are you bending it or am I missing something ??

  • @joemofobro All depends on if your hiitting the third string hard or soft on the slide, it must be picked hardish and the timming must be spot on, let the note ring before sliding and keep the slide the same speed as your roll..

  • Cheers Antony - it's wonderfully informative, an absolute blessing for a novice like me. Thanks for taking the time to show us how it's done. Cheers Mate

    Tom

  • I have searched a lot for deliverance (dueling banjos) and i have found this very good its quite easy to follow ; Ihave found ive not needed tabs if you watch and listen tou should eventually get it but if you nead tabs for dueling banjos try searching for

Warner Bros the original dueling banjos

    Well done teacher

  • WHAT DO YOU MEAN? it says it came with a tab in the description?! how could you not find tabs!!!!! AFSAHGSFKGADLOHDG

  • Why do I find the beginning of this tune so damn creepy??

  • hey could you give me the cords the the part at 1 min 30 seconds

  • nigger.

  • yhanks from the isle of arran

  • if i dont have the tab i dont know where to put my fingers

  • A note to all of you tab geeks, just watch and listen and learn it by ear.

  • @Discerner1999

not everyone is a kinesthetic learner. some need tabs. and it makes it much easier. and for those of us who pay for internet by the megabyte, tabs would be greatly appreciated.

  • @Discerner1999 to all of you condescending prick kinesthetic learners, stop being assholes.

  • This is by far one of tbe best tutorials I haver seen on YouTube so far. Thanks very much for sharing this its very helpful indeed.

  • most people who play banjo should be able to figure this out by watching and listening. i figured out the first page in 10 minutes by watching and listening and i just bought my first 5 string and started playing 2 days ago.

  • Sweet, you make it look easy.

  • I love the video, but I can't see what your fingers are fretting in the licks at the end :(

  • so where are the tabs?!?!

  • OMG! quit whinging about the tabs, I am a total noob yet I have this mastered pretty much with no tabs at all. Take it note by note and use your ears. Start/stop the video and even write your own tab if you want, it is so easy. Also if you do this youll improve much quicker than if your head is in some tab sheet all the time.. try it, you know you can do it.

  • awesome

  • i cant figure out the ending part! do u have tabs for just the end up the neck?

  • just go to banjoteacher com ,

Bundle 1 online is only 12 bucks and includes how to and tabs for:

Dueling Banjos , My Old Kentucky Home, John Henry , Hark the Herald

Angels Sing , Cripple Creek ,America The Beautiful

  • do u have any tabs 4 this?

  • i have been looking for tabs forever, and i have finally found them.... so here is how you get them for anyone interested...... down load the tabledit from

    tabledit. com/download/index.shtml

and then download the tab from

    banjohangout. org/w/tab/browse/m/byletter/v/D

  • @gdawg1324 that doesnt work on my computer :/ help!

  • @martinwenberg I dont have tabs, sorry

  • @AntonyTH could you plllleeeeaaasseeee write down some tabs??

  • @BrothersRifle I don't have tabs

  • @BrothersRifle And I can't read them or write them.. so..sorry

  • @AntonyTH find a tab tutorial on youtub=)

  • @AntonyTH hey did u find tabs?

  • @AntonyTH

tabs are the easiest way of reading and writing music. it litterally will take you 10 minutes to learn to read and write them. please take those ten minutes to learn please. you will be doing the world a favor.

    THE WORLD

    it really is that easy

  • @AntonyTH You could if you weren't lazy or gave a shit.

  • Can you give the exact link or a more specific pointer to where this lesson is?

  • I think my fingers are too big to make cords properly.

  • can i have the tab please?

  • I bought "The Banjo Encyclopedia" but theres no tab for this :-< Would love to get hold of the tab in this version.

  • This banjo is tuned to open G

  • i have a very old 5 string banjo, and i can play this song on the guitar already, eyes closed and all, but im interested in learning it on the banjo, but the thing is, mine is very out of tune. what tuning is this song in on a 5 string banjo?

  • in this video, the tuning is gDGBD, but in the original, i think they used that thing to shorten the strings that you put on the neck, so it changed to aEAC#E

  • the thing to shorten strings is a "capo" for those who are curious

  • WHERE CAN I FIND THIS TAB!!!!

  • @Beetold

    GOOGLE IT!!! ?

  • @azkanan

    Thanks idiot...didn't think of that.....

It's hard to find a proper tab of this song...and I wanted this one specifically

  • @Beetold google

  • @buldi53 See above retard

  • @Beetold then u r retard too cuz u cant read before comment

  • does the banjo encyclopedia mentioned at the end of this video even teach this song?

  • it sounds even better slowed down

  • this was Ross Nickerson, I learned to play it from his original teach yourself lessons from 1999 or 2000. He recorded it and showed me how to play it fast faster fastest ....

  • Whoops! that was just messed up right there. Sorry!

  • Hahaha no prob mate!

  • Hey, banjoman, this is a woman teaching in the video, no offense. Still, she rocks at the banjo!

  • Eh, this is Ross Nickerson..

  • he's just teaching and i think e did an exellent job at that.

  • i really need the tabs for this, could you please give me the tab that goes to dueling banjos (the banjo part)?

  • I enjoyed this! Thanks for the slow tempo. I used to be able to play this very good a long time ago, then didn't play for a long time, busy with other things. Now I am at it again, but forgot too much. It's all starting to come back.

  • i think i might be getting this!

  • i love it but really need tabs ive found some but they dont sound as goo as this 1

  • Tab for this.. anyone give me a link please?

  • I hav da sam banjo book and I lik how he orginized and clear. I took banjo lesson 4 2 month, and it depends eaither hard or easy.

  • can anyone give me the tab that goes along with this?

  • Great, keep goin!

  • YOU ROCK!!! thanx for the song, getting the hang of it!!!

  • im hopin that someone can help me here. i just bought a banjo, and i dont know if theres something i can adjust here

    on all strings

playing open on a string in tune, and then playing 12th fret of the same string, its about a half step sharp.....

    brand new.......

    whats wrong????

    :((

  • You need to move the bridge towards the 'tail' of the banjo (lengthening and deepening the sound of that string) unil you get an accurate 'octave' sound.

    Good luck!

  • search online 'how to adjust banjo intonation'

    that should help...

many cheap guitars (banjo's too probably) have really bad intonation out the factory and cant be fixed easily though...

  • the bridge is a little off. take it to the store where you bought it and have them fix it for you.

  • Use your ears, that is half of it, I cant play this yet, but I think I can pick it up with this video.

    Standard tuning and forward roll?

  • Yes mate, standard gDGBD tuning. There are more than one rolls in there though, the forward being one of them. They're all fairly common though and if you perservere and learn them from this vid, they'll put you in good stead for other tunes.

But yeah, this is a great primer to the Deliverance breakdown, thanks for posting!

  • MCPRE .!

I agree. You are right! 'Using your ears' (as you put it) is very important indeed! You cant always follow a step by step guide unless you 'hear' what you are playing and sometimes discover the notes that you need to play that way too. Or you are simply mimmicking another person and it has no feeling or meaning.

  • Absolutely excellent. I am a banjo beginner and I find video like this most inspiring indeed, thank you so much for this tutorial wonderful to watch and to listen to. Thank you for sharing!

  • didnt really help

  • lol made that up take no notice of it

  • i think it is a burdmum german built

  • Love it!!!!!!!

  • what kind of banjo is this ?

  • how is this lesson any different than the song? it isn't teaching you how to play it, you can't even see the fingers, he's just playing slowly.

  • awesome video it really helped me

  • My ol Granpappie used to play a banjo like that the difference was he had the strings made up outta his own pubic hair.

My oh my though he could fairly twang his ballhair banjo!

  • I think he is playing a Bellbird - Australian built.

  • does anyone know what type of banjo he is using?

  • a Bellbird - Australian built.

  • Very nice. I learned this by ear mostly. This video corrected some things I didn't quite have right. Foggy Mountain Breakdown, here I caome!

  • Do you have any idea what kind of rolls he's using in this video?

  • there just the normal forward and backward rolls.its difficult to explain with out showing you but if you do one forward roll hitting the 3rd string with the thumb then the second with the index the frirst with the middle the fith with the thumb first with middle second with index third with thumb ,this is a forward and backward roll do this twice open then twice in c chord and just keep practicing .happy picking.i will shortly befilming myself showing how to play it all the way through bestmalc

  • I messed around with it a bit after reading your comment and I got it. I greatly appreciate your reply and I'm looking forward to your video!

  • glad i could help.now youve got that when you do a forward /backward roll after your thumb hits the third string hit the first string wiyh your middle finger and that finishes the roll.easier to say t3 i2 m1 t5 m1 i2 t3 m1 then c chord i2 m1 t5 i2 m1 t5 then back to open g forward /bacward best banjomalc

    good practice

  • dunno bout 4 or 5 strings..makes me wanna go in the woods armed with ky..squeeeeeeeeel

  • Thank you !!

  • i gotta learn that shioot!

  • can you post tabs ??

  • Thanks for posting!

    Banjoistically yours,

    Jon Eric

  • Is the song playing at the end called 'John Henry'? If so, who's version is it?

  • wrong

  • I am considering a banjo what's the main difference between a Tenor and the other "long neck" types.

  • Tenor banjos are generally used in dixieland jazzy- type music and are played using a pick, they are the shortest (4 strings) Plectrum is the other 4 string type its longer and is tuned differently...used in basically the same genre. Bluegrass banjos are 5 stringed, the length of the neck doesnt really matter unless you have really short fingers.

  • What's the tune that plays at the end?

  • Be better if you could see which string he's picking.

  • what kind of banjo is this

  • what banjo did he use

  • 5 String.

  • hey is the crazy part after the intro mainy forward rolls?

  • Just curious, why is the song called 'the dueling banjos" when it's between one guitar and one banjo?

  • It was originally done as a duet between two banjos, under the title "Feuding Banjos".

  • I wanted to know that 2 :) thanx....aw and by the way cool vid

  • Probably right about the "Feuding Banjos". Check out the clip from Deliverance - Banjo Duel... To me, that's the defining moment for this piece.

  • hi, could you possibly tell me the link the tablature for this song?

  • How many strings are there? Cause my friend says there are 5 strings on banjos but I've seen some with 6?

  • True :) This bluegrass banjo has 5. 4 at the top of the neck, and 1 at the half.

A banjo with 6 strings is a guitar banjo. Standard tuning etc.

    Bye!

  • Is this a tenor neck or a long neck?

  • your standurd banjo neck

  • Oh okay. I appreciate the reply!

  • as you can see by the peg on the side of the neck there is a fifth string, hence not a 4 string tenor banjo

  • the one he is playin now has 5 but you can get one with 6 for people who already no how to play guitar

  • best banjo song ever.

  • i truly agree everybody who plays banjo CAN play that song.

is it the only song for banjo?

    LOL

  • Nah, another famous banjo song I can think of is Foggy Mountain Breakdown.

  • And how about "The Clampett's"

  • That is such a great song.

  • You play really good.

Could you post a video where you play the song exacly as in "the Deliverance"?

No offence, but it doesnt sound quite as it does in the film. No change of style or improvisation, just an exact copy.

  • People need to realize that all of the worlds greatest musicuans (particulary guitarists) grew up in a generation WITHOUT TABS!!! Most banjo players never had tabs either! LEARN TO PLAY BY EAR!!! It's MUCH more beneficial!!!!

  • You said it mate!

  • Ye hit the nail on the head there dude!

  • I agree that it is good to play by ear, but not necessarily on your "in the old days we didn't have tabs" thing.

for the most part, those people had teachers and lessons throughout life.

People who use tabs are self taught, and are perhaps more independent than those who took lessons, at an early stage at least

  • Yes it's better to be more independent, but if you use tabs you tend to rely on them more than your own ability to interpret music and play by ear

  • or if u dont have some1 to teach you then you can just learn from tabs till u dont need them.

    thats what ima do

then u can start playing by ear and makin up ur own songs

  • I think that the promised tab is just to pull in customers. I can't find the free tab (bait) nor could any of the several other people I have spoken too. This doesn't bode well for his other promises does it?

  • does anyone know what banjo tuning is used in this video? because i play irish music on banjo and i use EADG and i was wondering if this was the same.......cheers

  • It's g tuning ;)

  • I have yet to get that ending.

    great teaching video though

  • when you are playing (01:36 - 02:30)

wich "chords" are you using? and by the way, i cant find the tabs for this verson anywhere? you got a link?

  • Yeah that book doesnt have dueling banjos in it.

  • if you use guitar strings on a bajo will it sound any different?

  • you cant put guitar strings on a banjo, guitar strings have ball ends, banjo strings have loop ends

  • Untwist the loop holding the ball end and it will come out - leaving a banjo type loop

    Good for an emergency

  • You probably wouldn't be able to tune a guitar string high enough without breaking it.

  • The high E string on a guitar is higher by one full step than that of a banjo 1st dtring (D). I have even used this string on a mandolin, a full octave higher with no breakage.

  • I was more concerned with the 5th string (high G). I've never tried it, though. Just speculating.

  • very good pikin caint learn fromit though:)

  • Why not? You can pick along right?

Just try to listen closely and try to find the same notes as it is being played!

    You can do it!

  • hi, im mexican, do you know were can i get banjo strings? im using guitar strings :S, i cant find banjo strings, do u know were can i find?? thankyou!

  • in america! they all want
