I stopped relaxing me hair and am 8 months natural and will not do the BC I just have a lot of new growth but when I started going natural everyone would tell me to do the BC and I just refused but am so happy that I came across your video cause at times I just want to perm my hair but watching this video makes me feel confident about be going natural thank you :)
Wow I would love to know how you used clip ins while you are transitioning..... No relaxer since September 2011 Hoping to get healthy hair! Great video!
I LUV it! It's only been about 4-5 months since I've had a relaxer & didn't want to do the BC but seeing your transition has given me new light that I don't have to! THANKS A MILLION for this video!! :)
I know I am late in viewing this video but I found it to be EXTREMELY helpful. I recently made the decision to go natural. However, I AM NOT FEELING THE WHOLE "BIG CHOP"
Your video was the first on that I've seen on youtube that put me more at ease about this whole experience.
@aniswedding07 you should try this natural product line called reds kitchen sink they have the best products i am also in transition and it works great on my hair
ive been thinking about going natural for the longest & im glad ppl can do it w/out the big chop that was one of the things holding me back from going natural...does it take a lot of work to transition w/out the chop?
I haven't cracked up. I'm trying this new thing called Patience. I hear it's a virtue. lol i've been told that my hair is curly. But, the curls frizz when braided. looks horrible 1 week after it's done. i'm flat twisting every other day to be presentable @ work. I did a co-wash, but didn't like it. I found John Frieda's curl spray gel. i like it. seems to work better than the ecco gel and other products i've tried to tame these darn unruly (grey) hairs that grace my scalp
Can I ask u something? I read and understand that not doing the big chop at least 9 months after transitioning can have lasting damages on the ends of your natural hair at the point where both textures meet. Would this concern you?
@TownHeroine the hair is weak at that point; i did not have lasting damage as you say. My ends look just fine. I was very careful with my hair and I don't think many transitioners are....if you transition long term just be very careful b/c the hair is fragile.
@aniswedding07 Thanks for that :) I was just wondering because I've been told that the ends of the hair can end up being damaged. I've already big chopped after 8 months. But thanks your your reply :)
@TownHeroine Sorry to butt in, lol but i grew out my hair without the big chop, and i've been natural for like 3 years now, and my permed hair broke off badly, but my natural hair remained strong because I got my ends clipped every 6 to 8 weeks. It made the process much easier.
@Itsbrishreve No, your not butting into anything ,That would have been nice to here before I big chopped. lol But thanks for that info, I'm alot more educated about everything now. And just keep on learning. (:
I'm transitioning myself, HOW do you handle the wet hair comb-out from washing? this is forcing me to lean towards the creamy stuff. It's too much! At-least it feels like it's too much. any advice? i've got about 4" of nG (though i'm thinking it should be more)
@specialtouch31 theres a thing called co washing which is when you wash your hair with conditioner leaving your hair sof, cleant and smooth to detangle. Washing your hair with shampoo is bad drying out your hairs natural oils, leaving it very hard to detangle. If you need to wash it, theres videos here on youtube called low poos as well as cowashing.good luck and hope you didnt lead towards the creamy crack!
I'm transitioning myself, HOW do you handle the wet hair comb-out from washing? this is forcing me to lean towards the creamy stuff. It's too much! Atleast it feels like it is.
@specialtouch31 oooh child that comb-out on tranistioning hair is A SERIOUS MATTER lol You will need to get some products that work for you. I wish that I knew about Knot Today when I first started transitioning. I also wish I knew to comb it out in sections.
I transitioned slowly too. I cut out the remaining relaxer at 19 months. At that time, I had plenty of hair and my first all natural style was a two-strand flat twist out. That has basically been my style ever since. I am curious about the knot out though. I've heard about it but haven't tried it.
how did you do your knot out? im transitioning too but every time i try them it is based on how someone that is completely does it and it never works the same for me
@sxylondonlavendar I never tried my knot out on wet hair, I only did it on dry hair using just a little moisturizer and a bout 10 large knots. It was more of a wave than what it looks like on 100% natural hair
@MoonSun009 Yea I didn't bc either. I actually got to the point where it was just "clipping ends". I transitioned for 15 and a 1/2 months...my results...well worth the wait!!! Good Luck!
@LatteizHot08@LatteizHot08 I washed my hair weekly. I wore braids alot and I flat-ironed my hair alot (I dont recommend this tho). But I was able to transition for an entire year this way and only a few ends were left to cut. Check out my video on my page.
yep bc aint for everyone i'm transitioning, no bc for me, i'v trimmed a few times, and almost all the natural. my hair is trying to get to shoulder length now.
Ur 21 months now right? The last time i put a perm in my hair was December of 2009 so im like 10 months post right? Im transitioning also and i am not doing not big chop either... What is your regi? I still have to find out what works for my hair and i dont know what kind of regi to do im still trying to learn the products and thangs.
@shorTboo Yup 10 months or at least that is the way I count it lol So my regi is that I wash my hair twice a week (my hair needs this other people may not do this) I do not COWASH I wash my hair with shampoo! I use Kinky Curly Come Clean it works well on my hair. I wash In sections ALWAYS! I condition my hair and use Aussie's 3 min deeeep conditioner. I never have tangles after this. I use Kimmaytube's leave in recipe. Are you on hairlista? Hit me up on there if you have more questions
I didnt do the BC either and I'm all natural now. My last perm was July 2009 so it took me just at about one year to transition. I also straightend my hair a lot at first until those roots caught up with me and straitening didnt give me the same effect. Even wet sets didnt come out the same after a while because my roots were a beast! LOL
