  • All I could think of is...I'm in that part of YouTube.

  • nice dildo

  • New sex toy?

  • more of a bio wigglerthingy

  • looks like a hi-tech sperm... :)

  • i call it the fail-bot :P

  • i think the creator made this bot not be able to move so it couldnt run away from the creator like all the other creations that hated him and his stupidness

  • make a smaller version which crawls inside the ear and wraps itself around the cerebral cortex, rendering the victim unusually susceptible to suggestion

  • i lol'ed

  • well, your problem is simple, as it is hard to solve..... you got the motion wrong, it's like clapping 2 wings made out of wood and cloth and hoping to fly.... but it's pretty hard to mimic nature.

    Anyway, good job!

  • estupido ponelo bienn paralo

  • noooo pobrecito porfavor matenlooo no ven como sufre XDXDXD

  • U could do it better if you used a microcontroller. but good job!! you are a pro in transistors (sorry for my english)

  • i can do that with my cock

  • hook that to a dildo and you are set.

  • it needs wheels under each link

  • dying snake

  • oh, look, look, i think it moved forwards a little!.. aah, no it didn't... well, at least it... is...

  • arribles movimientos

  • But the real question is: Will it blend?

  • Hahaha i agree with you!!!! lmao XD

  • wow. It is a bunch of joints going back and forth all attached together. Well done. Next, let's put a button on it to make it go "SSSssss" every time you push it, then you'll REALLY be ahead :D

  • kill it!!! before it takes over the world!! lol

  • It's Seizuresnake!

  • That was $34,000 well spent.

  • robo snake, robo snake! speak to me robo snake! robo snake NOOOO!

  • i lol'd

  • this is my first time seeing a robot hav a seizure

  • the problem with snake movement, is that it's not snake locomotion, snake locomotion involves waves of muscle or something on the underside of the snake. the wiggling just helps i think

  • im confused is that a fish or a snake?lol

  • yum

  • it's a kind of funny the way it's moving xD

  • pretty cool but not moving :P

i wonder how much time and money those robots cost

  • Not much at all. this 'robot' (it's not actually programmed or anything, so we don't call it a robot as such) is just a collection of 9 servos, some scrap metal, a couple of inverters and Leds... maybe USD30-50 in total?

  • nervous nets are neat esp in how the behavior arises on it's own due to the design of the network and is not coded.

  • That's absolutely right. And it provides for great insight, or at least opens the door for imagination, to how things we perceive as 'alive' might actually be very similar 'biological machines'. It certainly was an eye opener (or thought provoker) to me!

  • its having a seizure

  • it's got issues..

  • Are you using evolution algorithms for generating of moves ? I as AI scientist , can see big potential of it.

    Things are not clear everytime.

  • Hey Energizer, I am not using evolutionary algorithms or mechanism here. This is partly because in the 6 weeks I spent on it in total, I didn't have time to look more into evolutionary mechanisms, and also because this thing is not programmed. No software or code. Just transistors. And unless I was using some sort of FPGA or EPLD or so (which I wasnt), I couldn't have used evolutionary mechanisms anyways.

Remember: NOT A SINGLE LINE OF CODE, JUST 40 TRANSISTORS!

  • Not enough people is appreating this...I built somthing similar for a school project, and yours is WAYYY better...I relise how much time it takes, and how hard it is, so I rate this as 5 stars!!!.....10 if possible...all I built was a stupid rope that wiggles when you make a little motor in the head move left and right.

  • Thanks man!

If only more people were able to actually hold this piece of artificially built limb/snake body in their hands, they would be able to FEEL that this is actually a scaryly alive and amazing assembly of ordinary components!

  • It's not even fucking moving! It's just wiggling!

  • yea but do u not see the hook ups on each end?

that might be why kinda looks like its held in place.

  • Indeed, it is fixed either side, mainly because this is the product of 6 weeks of hard research and development, and wasn't fully functional yet.

But the visionaries amongst the lot will be able to see a lot of potential in this kind of technology.

  • Guess i'm not a visionary then

  • what a crap -.-

  • looks like a dying animal somehow. but i like it

  • note to everyone who says it sucks - if you read the description it is a lot cooler than you think. A lot of the "real" looking robot snakes just roll around on wheels. I think what this snake is missing is traction...

  • thanks for that!

yes, people should consider that this is not a ROBOT, but a very early experimental prototype of what we might one day call 'artificial life'.

It's not a programmed machine like the honda ASIMO for example, but it's built by immitating nature. It has an 'Artificial Central Nervous System' that, in principle, behaves in similar ways to ours, but much simpler, of course.

Think of it like a frog's leg that's being electrecuted - sucks, but if you think about it, it's awsome!

  • that sucks no offense

  • lol.. we made the same battery and used similar parts in my electronic engineering class too..

  • every 1 check mine out my bristle bot leave responces and questions ill answer its called

    my bristle bot

  • а че робот змея неползет?

  • это только его кусок, считай тело без головы. в описании сказано, что для создания этой хрени понадобилось всего 40 транзисторов (это наверное мало или хз..), потому это типа очень крутое видео 8)

  • i guess they havn't figured out the moving foward part just sweet though

  • read the description lulz

  • its having a siesure....or its imatating you in bed either way still very crappy

  • Worse one yet!

  • horney snake

  • well that... seems pointless.

  • not bad

  • so it cant move? as in foward? backward?

  • No, not really. It's quite a useless snake.

BUT: It's an awesome caterpillar! so check out one of the other videos, there it's crawling, in fact, it's crawling out of an enclosure!

    A

  • Wow!!! I tried this once... I got two segments down and decided to just go build some nice car or something...

    Great job!!! Very impressive!

  • Patience was indeed very important. spent ages soldering......

but it was amazingly rewarding when i first held segments of it in my hand and it was spasming like some animal might do that just came to life!

really worth it, and during that moment when i first switched it on, a slight shiver ran down my back. i'm not being cheezy here!

  • I know the feeling... My first robot was a little bot that rode back and forth on a string through my basement when I was 12. It was made completely out of old printer parts (printers are absolute GOLD MINES for mechanical parts when, like me, you have no budget). The fact that I HAD MADE IT was just so incredible to me.

  • haha great spasms

  • Cool.

But that thing looks like a tapeworm screaming for food or something.

  • No offence, but the Japanese area years ahead of you. Check out their swimming snake.

  • Yeah, i know, they are pretty advanced! But mind you, their approach is different. they actually throw a lot of computing power at the problem, building a 'proper' robot. this bease here has no processors, only simple hardware, and yet, displays rich dynamics!

but you're right, the japanes are amazing at robotics!

  • pretty inovatinve.. I LIKE IT!!!
