I was pointing out where to go next, then i got moaned at by the police for putting 'L' plates on a 650, until they looked at the number plate and realised it was a varadero 125. They were really nice as well didn't even ask us to remove our helmets or for our names. JUst seemed concerend that we would get plowed into by a car while we were distracted.

@MrGixer69 I'm driving a mechanically propelled vehicle, NOT a motor vehicle. These have different definitions in law (hence no indicators, no mirrors, etc) so the number plate is a mute point. With regards to not concentrating....I was concentrating enough to spot an unmarked copper behind me.....pretty good eggs as far as my definition goes. It's not exactly the same as driving on a phone at all, not even close, one is illegal, the other isn't.

One thing that amazes me with that video is how the cop doesn't notice / doesn't care about the helmet cam. Each time I got pulled over with my helmet cam the copper asked me to turn it off/pull it away/erase it even.

Sorry mate, the cop has it dead right and you've just got the arse because you got caught riding and not really paying attention, with a number plate that isn't correct. The cop's attitude was fine and he explained things to you because not everyone knows how the system works. And every time he walked away you just had lame, sarcastic comments to make. Very grown up.
As for using the phone, forget legality; it's dangerous using one on a bike. You can't argue about legality when you're dead.
@zebrathreee actually the cop is DEAD WRONG (in regards to the number plate). I've since established there is a clear distinction between a motor vehicle and a mechanically propelled vehicle. Mine is the latter, it doesn't have to conform to the correct size as long as it is readable from 25 meters. Source DVLA guidelines for MPV.

You are a cock, you give bikers a bad name - number plate incorrect (ok, not a big deal) and you are not concentrating cos you are doing your blog, thats the reason youve been stopped. They even turned around and had to come after you as your driving was so odd, im sure you would be pissed off if a car driver was on their mobile...what youre doing is exactely the same.

@MrGixer69 I'm driving a mechanically propelled vehicle, NOT a motor vehicle. These have different definitions in law (hence no indicators, no mirrors, etc) so the number plate is a mute point. With regards to not concentrating....I was concentrating enough to spot an unmarked copper behind me.....pretty good eggs as far as my definition goes. It's not exactly the same as driving on a phone at all, not even close, one is illegal, the other isn't.

Sussex police are using Audi's now too - caught one on camera the other week. It was a silver 59 reg Audi A4 with tinted rear windows - it was very well disguised and you'd never know it was a cop.
They also have an unmarked VW Golf R32!

Sorry mate, the cop has it dead right and you've just got the arse because you got caught riding and not really paying attention, with a number plate that isn't correct. The cop's attitude was fine and he explained things to you because not everyone knows how the system works. And every time he walked away you just had lame, sarcastic comments to make. Very grown up.
As for using the phone, forget legality; it's dangerous using one on a bike. You can't argue about legality when you're dead.

@zebrathreee actually the cop is DEAD WRONG (in regards to the number plate). I've since established there is a clear distinction between a motor vehicle and a mechanically propelled vehicle. Mine is the latter, it doesn't have to conform to the correct size as long as it is readable from 25 meters. Source DVLA guidelines for MPV.
For this reason I also don't need indicators etc.

@svengalie my response was actually more to do with you using the phone and making sarcastic comments towards him, then slagging him off when he was actually pretty reasonable with you. using phones while riding or driving anything makes you concentrate less, and on a bike it's so much more important. your choice i guess, but bikers who've crashed/died/been injured etc etc because they weren't paying attention to things that could have been avoided...well it's just a shame for everyone involved
