4. "High population in prison"- Have you seen how many prison ministries there are? Jesus commands us to preach to those in prison, so your stat just shows me they are doing their job! If you could find a stat showing religious preference at the time of incarceration, then maybe you'd have a point. So, sorry, fail on all points.

"30% divorce rate"- Statistical anomaly, with so many people calling themselves Christian, bound to be a lot more in the sample, plus another study showed that those couples who actually are avid churchgoers and who live out Christianity in all aspects of their life, as opposed to those who just occupy a pew on Sunday or just on Christmas and Easter and could care less the rest of the time, the rate drops to about 3% (continued...)

A few problems with your stats: 1. "16% are nonreligious"- This could mean not going to a church or not wanting to call themselves religious due to negative connotations with that word, nonreligious does not equal atheist. 2. 93% of scientists are atheist- Some may not want to publicly admit this due to being ostracized or it could also be the same reason as #1 (continued...)

The majority of America is christian, 66% in fact. They are NOT Atheists at all. Atheists do not believe in the childish myth and superstition of "personal god/s,' it's utterly stupid. Also, where 66% of America is christian 16% are Atheist, and U.S. prisons are 66% christians, but only POINT 2% Atheist. christians are criminals most of the time. Atheists believe in treating people as they themselves would be treated, where christians believe they're above the law, they aren't.

We aren't exactly Atheists, but that's in the right area. We don't believe in personal god/s of any kind. No religions have a clue how things came to be, but Science Does, as you already know if you're an Atheist. It's a simple fact that Atheists are better people. Look around. Saudi Arabia is one of the worst places on the Earth, because of religion. You can't compare N Korea, since it is a dictatorship. His facts showed that in Europe and the US that atheism is growing, which is well known. Worldwide the trend is the opposite, primarily due to the opening up of the former Soviet bloc countries to Christianity and the Muslim religion. Both of which are making incredible inroads in those. That is a historical anomoly that can't really be repeated, unless something like that happens in China or North Korea.

I seriously dount that atheists are either better or worse. There are just too many atheists and too many Christians for either group to differ substantially from the norm. You are instead drawing faulty conclusions. Are you including North Korea in atheist low crime rates (it has the lowest on earth, as it is one big concentration camp and you are executed for minor offenses). If not, why not? Does NK really prove that atheists have lower propensity for crime?

Are you including the heavily atheist countries like Sweden and Norway to get the low stats? But those two countries have deeply set Christian heritages (the Christian cross is still on their flags). Is the low crime rate there due to that Christian heritage or the present day atheism? How are you treating China, with its population its stats overwhelm everything. What is the racial & economic makeup of the numbers? Aren't you really saying lots of atheists live in small homogenous countries?

Your reasoning is off the track. The statistics don't exaggerate the claims. Check out the research that's cited if you want all of the data. The fact is, religious people feel they are above the law, so to speak. They feel they have some knowledge that others don't possess, when it is in fact the opposite. There is absolutely no evidence of any god or gods, and to claim a singular religion has all the answers is not only dogmatic and idiotic, it enables self-righteousness. Atheists are better.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons does have statistics on religious affiliations of inmates.

The following are total numbers of inmates per religion category:

Catholic 29267 39.164%

Protestant 26162 35.008%

Muslim 5435 7.273%

American Indian 2408 3.222%

Jewish 1325 1.773%

Scientology  190 0.254%

Atheist 156 0.209%

Those stats aren't from the Bureau of Prisons. That's from a real specific survey that was done by a religious group in the late 1990s, but was primarily publicized by the Humanist magazine. The purpose of the survey was to determine what religiious affiliation prisoners were in. So the question was something like "what religion are you?". So atheists obviously didn't answer it, except for a tiny few confused by the question. The survey guys themselves had a video a yr or so back explaining this

Three countries that have long Christian heritages that shaped their societies. So much so that they still have the Cross on their national flags. Japanese society was also shaped by religion for millenia. The Japanese have abnormmaly high respect for authority, devotion to duty, all of which came from religion and impacts their low crime rates.

Or totalitarianism. I agree. It isn't atheism that makes communism bad, it is the unrestrained power given to a small group of people (who never give it up) and always wind up corrupted. Not because they are atheist, but because that much power is corruptive.

No it is not. The point of the video is merely showing that the often heard claim that atheism will unevitably lead to a decline of moral values and thus more crime etc. simply is not true.

References to communism are moot, because in this case, it is a totalitarian elite imposing its will on a society. Having said that, there was a huge rise in crime rate after the fall of communism in Eastern Europe and Russia.
