You can say all you like about lyrics having different themes between the two genres, but if you can't even hear the lyrics due to death growls and the music doesn't really sound...THAT much like an actual song...then I start to question where the supposed line is.

Dimmu Borgir are always classified as Black Metal, but a lot of their songs seem like a stretch of the genre to me and apart from the lyrics the growls are also sometimes more death-like.

If more of their songs were atmospheric like Progenies of the Great Apocalypse, Puritania and Blood Hunger Doctrine, I'd love them, but the overly frantic, less rhythmic, less atmospheric sound doesn't help to make Black Metal as clear-cut as I wish it was.
