so in short, it's not a hologram, it's a holographic screen, two different things. My question is... why would you want to watch tv on a flat piece of transparent glass when you can do the same in higher quality on a real tv? The whole point of holograms is that it takes out the clunky hardware parts of a visual interface and frees the user to be mobile while viewing a weightless screen.
well, two years now, and still no holographic screen, because, whats the interesting on watching a projector in some mirrors?, so, that sill not work, and thats because the image it's horrible and it has not any advantage, what the point? FAILLL.
Well this is a good idea but this concept is much likely going to be used with OLED technology projector technology are slowly becoming a thing of the past
This is stupid. The only reason I would ever get one of those is if I was rich and had nothing better to spend it on. Otherwise, the kinds of holograms that most people expect are the ones without the glass.
What is the problem, the video is called HOLOGRAPHIC SCREEN anyone says it's a real hologram. people just like to discredit, I find very interesting as you look
a holographic sign does not have glass that you touch so the holographic image you seen is not true if it has glass which is does. gosh. watch the movie Wall-E. there are many holographic signs or projectery. and its not touch screen. you have to program it in the potral.
to people who thinks holographic means 3d stuff, you are thinking the wrong way. holographs dont fly in the air!!! they are projected onto a sheet, film, glass, etc!!!
@whitmoremiddle here's your definition from the dictionary Mr. know-it-all.
hologram [ˈhɒləˌgræm] (n)
(Physics / General Physics) a photographic record produced by illuminating the object with coherent light (as from a laser) and, without using lenses, exposing a film to light reflected from this object and to a direct beam of coherent light. When interference patterns on the film are illuminated by the coherent light a three-dimensional image is produced.
30 years form today, Holographic 3d computer and holographic 3d games, and if will have kids then, they will be playing with the holographic icons and the holographic Sonic and Mario. ;)
This can actually be pretty easy to do, all you need is a wii remote, projector, and a computer and the program called smooth board, project the image from your computer onto a piece of glass and there ya go.
@littlemexicantheif Fiber optics is, at its most basic, when light shine into a very narrow cylinder. The light then emerges from the other end as a dot no matter if the cylinder was bent or not.
Get your info straight so you don't look like an idiot in the future.
I think it utilises the principle of holography. There may be only one or two small projectors at the edge of the screen and the rest is a reflective mesh.
And your description says holograms are already possible, like it's new technology. Well, I'm sure you are aware, the hologram was invented in 1947 (Ithink), so it hardly new and hardly something to get excited about unless it can be applied in exciting ways. This is about as exciting as wondering what to put on your toast.
Youtube users see a lot of over hyped nonsense. We get fed up with it. Try to stand out next time rather than fall down.
@gunblade64 I think the world hologram isn't being riped from anywhere. This is a Holographic Screen, it means it's a screen which rends a holographic optical illusion such a 3D Screen which rends a 3D optical illusion because what you really see is not a 3 dimensional object that you can touch but you can see. As the Holographic Screen show you te optical illusion of a hologram and not a real hologram because as his name indicate it is a Holographic SCREEN!!
@Globalzepp You're right... It's not a hologram. Therefore it shouldn't be called a ''Holographic Screen.'' & it is an 3D ILLUSION! Anything that is holographic IS 3D!! When i'm watching TV it looks 3D, but it isn't. Does that mean my TV is holographic? no it doesn't. All this is is a sheet of glass with the image being projected through it. It is cool though, but not an accurate description.
@Globalzepp It's impossible to know whether it's 3D or just a glass 2D projection. No where does the uploader state the word 3D or mention no glasses are needed. I have to agree with gunblade64, this is probably not 3D/holographic, just possibly OLED or a projection in 2D, ie. non holographic.
@Globalzepp now you are ripping the 3d meaning. Any picture is 3d? Because if any picture is as 3d, this is holographic. 3D means something, and its different of stereoscopic sense of depth, and different from a 2d image on a tv display of a 3d object, nor Toy Story nor the new films are in 3D. And this. It is not holographic. its pseudo-holographic. Please go read some wittgenstein and a thesarus. This isnt holographic.
@Globalzepp Saying the screen creates an illusion of a hologram makes little sense. The hologram itself is an illusion. No one can tell an illusion from an illusion of an illusion, and so why would anyone create an illusion of the hologram when the hologram alone creates the desired effect? :)
And that's not more of a hologram (or an illusion of one..) than what a regular projector can do on a (transparent) projection screen.
@gunblade64 i think what you'r saying is that the word hologram is becoming more of a sci-fi fantasy and more unreachable with the power of our imaginations
@gunblade64 If it were a projector projecting the image onto the glass then explain how he places his hand to touch the glass, the image is not projecting onto his hand?
@DSM4LIFE20g If you look more closely, you can see that the guy is waving his hand only outside of the hotspot of the projector's lightbeam.
Besides, the light is reflecting of off his hand on the other side which you don't see from the camera's standpoint. You know? Logic... think about it :P
This is a Holographic Screen, it means it's a screen which rends a holographic optical illusion such a 3D Screen which rends a 3D optical illusion because what you really see is not a 3 dimensional object that you can touch but you can see. As the Holographic Screen show you te optical illusion of a hologram and not a real hologram because as his name indicate it is a Holographic SCREEN!!

yeah it might not hit the mass markets immediately, but there is always some tech geeks that will need to have it, me possibly being one of them, and once they catch on a little bit and the price drops I really see this type of stuff catching on and just booming. Just like hand held touch screens
@darkspell117 It looks like it will have a different use than replacing a conventional screen! who would want to watch Lost on a screen where you are constantly being distracted by the wall behind! like in a bathroom mirror or a kitchen surface! where-ever this turns up it won't be the main TV screen! it would be especially good as a capacitive touch screen! or an intercom screen on a glass front door.
@katakisLives you're wrong, it is a reality, hundreds of advertising and event companies are already enjoying work with this holographic technology like an advertising support, they know well how a impressive and brand new mean of communication like this one make their campaigns successful
@Globalzepp Companies and advertisers are always looking for the next gimmick to make their product stand out from the crowd! it sounds like they are using it as a glorified power point presentation! I was more refering to the domestic market, I can't imagine seeing this in Curries or Best buy any time soon! would you have one in your living room! have a PlayStation 4 plugged into it or the next Xbox! having it at a few expo's does'nt make it a commmercial product.
