I saw immediately that your S-trap would cause a pressure problem since your funnel really isn't sealed that tight. honestly you really wouldn't need cooling on the tube. Air would cool the tube enough and if it didn't the glass pop bottle would. Also a longer tube would help, and as you mentioned cooler temps help. bury that pop bottle halfway in the wet sand would also work well. After it doesn't really matter where it condenses as long as most of it does condense.
