Politicians are not elected to change things they're elected to keep things the same. This is why there is constant and ongoing disappointment among voters towards those they elect to office. It is not surprising voter turn out is always low.
In regards to the video's underlying message that there is a connection between voter apathy and the stereotypical image of the pseudo-hippie-slacker. This is a gross generalization and is just a straw man argument that takes away from the real issue.

I know the lady running here in moncton , she's a nice woman, but i'm still not voting.
I know, I know...everyone is a critic...If you want young people to vote, don't have old people telling them to. And if you ever redo this video or copy another video in a white environment, spring for the white studio or at least have the participants stand farther away from the white wall. The shadows make it feel cheap. And lose the guy in the red hoodie, fack he is annoying and unfunny. The reason for the video is valid but it could have been better produced. Plus...it was 3 minutes too long
I attached my video response 1 week ago and the owner of this video does not have the guts to post it. Go to CasinoGulag(dot)com to find out how this very video has been used against these agents of mass deception that we refer to as politicians.
@goeland70 Stop doing propaganda for the Liberal party, it's obvious if you look at all your massive replies of people complaining at the libs, the NB Power sale was stupid and even more stupid is its deficit when it's running monopoly, in the U.S. electric businesses compete to provide electricity and gain profits. We need a new government now that will make NB Power profitable.
"If you can find a better way of life than office holding for your future rulers a well governed city becomes a possibility. For only in such a state can those rule who are truly rich, not in gold, but in the wealth that makes happiness a good and wise life."
well, if i don't vote, i don't have the right to bitch and complain about who's screwing me over in the government. i'm voting so i can have a say! good video guys!
Democracy... what a bogus concept. You vote them in and then they do what they want. Did you vote for the war? Did you vote for the NB Power sale? They say you have to write them a letter if you want something changed. Why? Do I have to write my mechanic a letter to have my car fixed? No. Mechanics are trained to fix cars. Polititions lack the training needed to deal with societal issues. They don't know how to fix society.
Red, Blue, Vote, No Vote ... No difference. They all lie or don't lie. They all do the same lazy things / "productive" Things .. Who cares? You do, then vote. If you don't then Don't vote. End of story , why beg people to do something they don't want to or don't believe in? This video reminds me of a 2 year old who wants something they can't have. Get over it, not everyone participates in politics and that is their choice.
Anyways, again, great video, with a bit humor and respectful people with good arguments!
Nice video! Good job guys! But I think it's missing something. Voting in itself is not the point. Voting red because all your family is or blue because the candidate "looks" better is an empty vote and counterproductive for our democracy. We need well informed and conscentious voters, not just voters.
yeahhh unfortunately thats the only democratic thing they let us participate in...the other 364 days they make us submit to this hybrid social-capitalist "utopia". but hey whatever
HEMP TO SAVE NB,,,,,,,HEMP TO SAVE NB,,,,,,,, STOP CUTTING TREES USE HEMP TO SAVE NB,,,,,,HEMP TO SAVE JOBS, MAKE HEMP FARMS,,,,,,,HEMP FOR NB,,,,,,HEMP FOR NB FARMERS,,,,
The reason why the youth doesn't tend to vote in any significant numbers is because ALL political parties completely ignore the issues that are so important to them as soon as the election period is over. On top of that, NB continue to loose potential young voters to other provinces due to the low probability of employment after graduation. It's simply silly to ask this skeptical generation to participate in a process that doesn't even reflect our aspirations in the slightest. Just vote? LOL
@blackacadian you don't get it, most kids are too uninformed to go vote, mainly because they've never been thaught responsibility. Yes , a lot of them leave for better possibilities. If you don't participate in the process how can you expect to have your voice heard. Alberta had the lowest voter turn out in history, both prov. and civic. My piont a minority speaks for the majority and now everybody is upset. Just proving that your vote does count. Change won't happen with your head in the sand
@goeland70 Kids mostly don't vote, because they don't care. This generation is tired of all of this fake political enthousiasm/optimism right before an election. We all know it's just another tactic to try to increase voter turn out in order to justify electoral spending. The real problem is that empty political promisses have greatly contributed to this state of apathy. That also explains the rise of new political parties in NB. Vote, but don't hold your breath should of been the real message.
@blackacadian exactly, kids don't care and that's the problem. I remember a long time ago somebody threw out the idea of raising voter age to 21, the youth fliped out, yet the under 30 vote was still vey low the following election. And i agree that votes are bought with empty promises and your own tax dollars. That's still not a reason to not vote. Our forefathers fought and some died for this right. Our soldiers are dying so some others can have that right, and you can't be bothered, how sad
@goeland70 Politicians don't care about our ideas. How many times should we get kicked in the nuts before we decide that we don't want another? Sadly, we are stuck in this perpetual status quo without any signs of change. Soldiers ensure our security from foreign threats, but our protection from domestic threats is dependant on a well functioning, accountable and transparent government. I agree that the dropping electoral participation is a real problem, but better marketing isn't the answer.
@blackacadian what it comes down to is this, it's a personal choice. And i was able to ignite debate from a few of you. That was my whole point, debate is the founding block of a democracy. And good debate at that, no insults ,nothing. Wich is good because people seem to love to jump down each others throats when hidding behind a screen. As a province and country we have a long way to go as far as elections are done and how our leaders should lead.
@goeland70 yeah but everybody either vote Conservative and liberal,or majority that is,and time and time again both of these parties end up being subservient to corporations namely Irving and such, they might have their stance to infatuate the masses with this pagentry, nothing changes even if i vote for a third party they would end up doing the same thing...the only thing effective to do in reality is overthrow not vote them in...its all a sham
Let's be honest, Shawn Gaham is a tool, no one should vote for him he wants to sell NB Power, and then you go the conservatives which are basically the George Bush party, and the Green and NDP seem pretty weak. were screwed.
Actually selling NB Power would have been the best option and missed on it because of some uneducated people who got scared with emotional thoughts of loosing something that "belongs to them.." And then of course the Conservative tried and are still trying to make political gains over this.
Over 5 billions of debt paid!!! What scared a lot of people is the selling of NB Power for life! Just think about what renewable energy will be like in 30 or 40 years from now..
What I mean is that renewable energy will be far more advanced in the future so we will not have to depend so much on our big poluted power plants as we do now.
The selling of NB Power was taking care of so much issues it was a no brainer!
1. Greatly reducing the debt of NB
2. Much cleaner energy = less polution = less health issues in the long run
3. Part of the money could have been re-invested in renewable energy and created more jobs
@explik why keep a aging money pit like NB power? Do you realise that NB has some of the highest electricity rates in North America ? NB pow. is a sinking ship. Sorry to say but NB is a have-not prov. Meaning that NB takes in more from Ottawa than it makes. People cry about high taxes, then cut some spending, like the cash drain that is NB pow. and spend it where NB needs it the most
Anyways on est way off le sujet, lol.
Its easy for the NB government compare to other provinces to pay off student loans for former students because there's only a handful of them left....NB has one of the oldest population in the Country, draining its budget in Healthcare. If you want to be elected, all you need is a white hair head convincing white hair people....
Everyone touts Democracy as some sort of good thing. Fact is that democracy is one of the worst forms of government that there is. Democracy is mob rule where 51% of the people can tell the other 49% what to do. The best government is a Federal Republic which offers individual inalienable rights.
Aaron Russo nailed it when he said that democracy is two wolves and a sheep talking about what is for dinner. In a Federal Republic the sheep would have a gun.
WTF is with saying "why vote" so much. I will vote when the ballot says "does NB suck?" my answer will be Hell yes, NB has done nothing for the students besides putting them in more debt. I say FU NB and FU Canadian government.
I totally disagree. Over the past few years the New Brunswick government has implemented a lot of programs directed at helping their students pay down debt. Programs that are far batter than many other provinces. The tuition rebate program that will pay back up to half (to a maximum of $20000 of student debt), and their capping NB students debt at $26000.
NORTHERN, NB CAMPBELLTON NEEDS SOMETHING DONE OR ITS GONNA DIE,, THIS FROM ABOUT MYSELF AND 25-30 FRIENDS THINK THE SAME, OH AND WE ALL MOVED SOUTH OF THE PROVINCE FOR WORK CAUSE THERE WAS NOTHING HOME FOR US!! I DONT WANT TO GO TO MONCTON I WANNA STAY IN CAMPBELLTON!!!!!!!! WHAT IS THE GOVERNMENT GONNA DO TO HELP US 18-30YRS OLD.????? OR EVEN WANT TO MAKE US WANT TO VOTE FOR A PERSON WHO BLOWS HOT AIR FROM HIS MOUTH!!!! MY VIEW!! PLEASE RESPOND!
@spicychef911 - on Sept 27 write on your ballot "I vote for The Mad Ape" and your problems will be solved. If you keep participating in this flawed process expect more of the same. Instead of me keep posting my link here just go to Google and search for Vote for Mad Ape. I am the top link. You will see my platform.
I'd really enjoy voting if there was a "no-confidence" box to check on a ballot. Far too often politicians run on platforms that don't matter to me. If I, for whatever reason, believe that any of my possible representative choices or the party leaders are unsuitable to me, I'd like that to be recorded in the record books. Additionally, it would be great if they received 51% (example) of those votes, all representatives would be recalled and need to be replaced. Same for party leaders.
They need more votes so they can feel better about their decisions (and themselves!) They need somebody, not another politician, somebody with business knowlegde and contacts to build a solid economy, leading to jobs and paying off the debt. I think they're doing great with the Belledune port, we need more initiatives like that. Cheers
LOL!! I like this one; "I need to get a job so I can pay taxes" LOL! right-on so we can continue to have operating schools, hospital, health coverage, fairly good road etc. Yeah I'll vote and it won't matter who else gets in charge as long as this is a democracy. We should be grateful we don't live in Iran for example... Dam right I'll vote!
@seriago I've offered a far superior solution to the status-quo quackery that's NB Politics.
Albert Einstein once said that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
By that definition anyone who votes for any of the political parties in New Brunswick is insane.
Fight for real change by showing these muther f'ers that they are full of crap. On September 27, 2010 write on your ballot I vote for The Mad Ape. Visit CasinoGulag(DOT)com for more info.
@seriago from someone who thinks that voting status-quo is taking then election process seriously.
Without a doubt I am sanest candidate in this election. That is an indisputable fact.
Go to Google and search for Vote Mad Ape. I am the top link. Make your vote really count by voting for me. The current system is an illusion. The current system is a lie. Spread the word. Vote The Mad Ape for Premier as a write-in Candidate on September 27
Good video but I call bullshit! One is spending money saying it'll get done if I'm re-elected, the other is saying that he'll freeze stuff if I'm elected, that's all fine and dandy, but why stoop down to smear the other one? Shawn tried to sell your utility, we wouldn't, vote for us. I like the dude in my riding, but I don't like the guy who's heading up the party...it was the same deal with the fed election. I'll vote for sure, but I won't go for the status quo. I'm going to go for the quiet 1
A vote for any of the current political parties is a vote for the same ole same ole. I say vote but vote for none of the above. I say vote for me, The Mad Ape, as a write-in candidate. Show these guys we want death to the Casino Gulag economic model of governance.
If someone has to be convinced of reasons to vote to this extreme, they are probably too dense to make an INFORMED decision and should not be voting in the first place. They should actually know what they're voting for!
As long as NBers keep voting back and forth from Liberal to PC, it won't matter. It's time for a real change, I don't care who, but a real change. I wish NBers would wake up.
Until normal, average citizens start running, it won't make a difference because all the lawyers that are in politics now don't care about average tax payers.
This is a gross generalization and is just a straw man argument that takes away from the real issue.

can you vote at frenchy's?

@jonlag If you vote for me your education will be free. CasinoGulag(dot)com will explain it to you. On September 27, 2010 vote for The Mad Ape.

@jonlag

Dam right I'll vote!
seriago 1 year ago
@seriago you call "this" a democracy ?
monsieurc4 1 year ago
@monsieurc4, I doubt you got a better solution?
seriago 1 year ago
