Thats pretty kule alright! I would definitely agree with you..."awesome encounter".
Funny...for a while there I thought you were gonna let it walk...and I was thinking man, thats big enough for me :D...and then I heard the click of your gun...hmmm I thought...then bang...no tracking needed there, nice shot!
These deer feed the locals up there in the town of Green Lake Saskatchewan. Nothing is wasted. Believe me- they really appreciate the meat. It goes a long way to feed the families up there. You buy meat in the grocery store all neatly wrapped in plastic and cellophane trays. Someone did the job of killing it. It's nature pure and simple. Hunting and killing game (I never sugar coat it by saying "harvest"- that's what you do to plants.) has been part of nature since people have been on earth.
i guess maybe its i live in the city and also understand the point of controlling population and shit but i see this animal and shoot and kill it isnt one of the things i think about seems fucked up to me but to each is to own
@alberta12 The 3rd week is always a productive week. You will be in good shape as long as the weather is cold. Last year at Green Lake we had 14 hunters and 14 bucks killed. Some of them were gaggers. Think about Green Lake if you can. I know hunters that have gone to Paradise Hill a bunch of times and they didn't see nearly the number of deer/bucks that we all saw. Don't let Grant push you one way or the other. Mike Hanback goes to Green Lake every year so that ought to tell you something.
@milatpj6850 Thanks for the reply. I have thought of Green Lake, and I did notice Mike Hanback always went there, and I believe Nicole Jones and partner has also. I realize that they probably will put the TV stars on sites that they know are visited by the big boy's, that only is too obvious, but again, I already realize the purpose. I remember looking at their website before it was changed this year and saw many, many gagger's coming in from Green Lake Camp. Please send me a personal e-mail
@DROP1COOK1BEATS1 If you haven't been up to Saskatchewan, you gotta go. Heading back in November for 3rd time. Hopefully the 3rd time is the charm-. The deer are bigger than you could ever imagine. On my first trip the first deer walked out in front of me and it was a doe. She was so big I started laughing. EASILY 200lbs +.
My experience was the same, went to Makawa River Outfitters, just to the East of Paradise Hill . First deer that came in was a doe, I thought she was on steroids. Waited until 4th day to take my buck, nice, but not what I was hoping for. Going back to Alberta in November, hoping 5th time to Canada is a charm. Still have not gotten the one I am after. Like you, going to Buck Paradise, but in 2013 3rd week in November. Grant recommended 3rd week, hope he is correct.
Sooo...why did you wait so long? Just curious. I enjoy watching wildlife as much as the next guy does, but when it comes to killing a game animal...it's business; I get it done at the first opportunity. Nice video.
@rNdDynamikkDuo I get that question a lot. Obvious I guess. I had been up there a few years ago and told myself on this trip, I want to shoot something bigger than the last time. At least that was my plan going in for the first few days. This buck was shot on day 2. I knew I had time if he was not big enough. I also knew that he was in no hurry to get out of there. I did decide to shoot him when he started waking away and I saw his width. It took him a few minutes to turn broadside.
