Suteki Da Ne was good, but I question the other musical choices (all from FFVIII, too) and their order. Don't Be Afraid is pretty tight, though, but I definitely think it was in the wrong place in the show.
One winged angel? No. I watched this whole video for a song i didn't even see. Dang. They do a FF show and don't even play the MOST FAMOUS song from any FF game. lameeee.
sorry to hear that moogle. just the opposite with me. my band director in high school almost got fired because we played music from the South Park Movie.
I am bawling my eyes out right now. My band has neither the size to play this music or a band director to issue it to us. He's too stuck up to play "something no one will know". T.T
@xylogirl6 same here, this is freakin awesome. i was trying to decide if i wanted to audition for blue stars or spirit, now i know exactly who i wanna audition for
Navy actually. Currently training to be a navy seal. Yea after you said who it was I saw the josh and the emt part in your id. You told me you were going to be an emt on tour so should of know. But yea doing alright can't wait to actually work with the seals. Get some schooling in while I'm doing that. Always weird watching this and thinking that this was my only year. With my age out supposed to happen last year.
Awesome. Thank you for what you are doing for this country. I am actually looking for a service where i can get in some medic training so i can fly helicopters as a civilian flight medic.
Yea not sure how you would be able to do that. Except maybe as a reservist and get the training there. Hey do you have any messengers/email or something?
i was in band (graduated and there is no band in college). i feel like it would have been both awesome AND losery to play video game music. the nerds would be like "fuckin awesome" but the jocks and football players would be like "this is GAY"
i know that, im talking about the fans. the fans wouldnt have given a rat's ass, and neither would the football players...or at least not at the highschool we went to. but all i know is it would have been more fun for me playing game music
Ever heard of The Caveliers? (I think I spelled it right). They are a VERY good drum core...the only thing I don't like is that they are all male! D=! Chicks are Band-os too!! XD!!! But then theres the um...AAAHH!!!! i can't remember off the top of my head!! I forgot DX!! I feel HORRIBLE!!! But they are best in Nation and I beleive they are a Co-Ed Band....
Drum Corps... And the Cavies have had that tradition for well over 50 yeears now. Most Corps were all-male and all-female until the mid-70's. there were several all-female Corps that were quite good, too. the Ventures from Ontario, Les Chatelaines from Quebec, and St. Ignatius Girls to name a few. It's about the last remaining deep tradition that's out there. Don't get too harsh about it. 8)
The Cavaliers are all male for the same reason the Madison Scouts are all male. They were originally a boy scout troop, then they became a drum and bugle corps.
OMG!! You guys fucking ROCK!!! This is most amazing!! God...My band isn't even close!! XD!! But then again, this isnt a High school marching band huh?
Band-o for Life!!<3
<--High skool Marching Band, West Holmes-Flute & Melephone x33
Actually, no it wouldn't. This isn't a high school marching band. Also the arranger of the music decided not to use FFVII music because FFVIII was more orchestrated, and VII's more Rock and Techno infused.
You don't have to sound so defensive. ;P Just an opinion, that's all. Besides, I think there are some good orchestral versions of the Rufus song out there.
Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like that. I was actually marching in that show so I have a real place for it in my heart. Many drum corps shows now are about a certain theme or they tell a story in a way.
i'm glad to see that video game music in general is getting some reputation now. i would love to see more of these in the future to where its like japan where they have opera's, instruimental, lots of cosplay, singers, and etc. I would love to be in anything that has to do with videogames, i don't care if i had to be that punk ass cat cait sith and run around.
Saying things like "its all right; but the real versions are undeniablely better good job though." "and east coast jazz was better" show that you have no class and no little about Drum Corps. They work hard to put a show like this on the field. DO NOT try to take credit away from them.
I'm sorry, but I still can't see how this show placed so well. I love final fantasy but this hornline sounds like shrapnel is coming out of their horns. Very poor quality ofsound, even among lower division ii corps. And the individual marching is horrendous, loads of phasing and poor technique. And what the hell is with the guard uniforms!
the uniforms were designed to depict the 3 colors used in pictures. Red, Green, and Blue...with those 3 color palettes you create the other colors used around the color wheel.
Wow.I really like this show. I'm in a high school marching band in Ohio, and i found this show by accident while searching for a picture of cactuar. This is a sweet idea, i wish we could do something like this. Maybe with One Winged angel, that would be awesome
This was my rookie year and I had a blast doing it but this year was so much better. and i am from black river falls too whoever darkchild006 is but that wa great because we couldnt see anything because it was so dark but we were loud that night just doing a runthrough for severance
It was okay... it was cool because of the song choice, but they were really dirty marching and musically. I wish they would have picked a few better songs, but Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec is pretty damn cool. And FFVIII does have a great soundtrack, they just picked some of the crappier songs from it. Anyways, my old High School marching band, Homestead Spartan Alliance from Indiana, could probably have owned this band.
Well I really liked that they incoporated final fantasy into dci. I marched before and know the ff have went through all the final fantasies several times. on the ballad they needed Aria Di Carratera from ff6. the ending they needed the victory batle song with the guard spinning ther flags like weapons. they needed one-winged angel in there 4th part. ans some cadets 98 on the 2nd part.
I disagree with the people who thinks FFVIII music can't par with FFVII. Frankly, FFVII music was one of the worst compilation of themes and musics along with FFIX. Sure there are some memorable tracks that lived up to the name of Final Fantasy such as the overrated One winged angel. But if you look at other tracks of FF7, only a few were considered to be spectacular. FFVII OST offered music fit for a game and movie. Comparable to Xenosaga's OST.
musically I think Nobuo's work has never faltered on any of the game's - he's a genius, There performance is good but the sound quality does lose the emotion I feel. as for the games VII was great and the one that got me into the series but I think that IV, VI and VIII are equally as great but I always preffered Xenogears anyway, Better plot :D

In fact, you CAN see it! Do a search for 2006 Dutch Boy here and you'll find a couple posts of the full show video to enjoy.
