It might be fundementally wrong but the schools allow it until offends someone and obviously it offended someone. I went to East Valley High School and Jeff Miller was principle when I was there back in '05. Yeah it might fall under freedom of speech but that person that complained has a right too. Yeah it is cool to praise God in public and gutsy but Mr. Miller was put in a tight spot either lose his job and not do anything about it or do something about it. That kid needs to shut up.
@lindseygirl1986 your right, the other person does have a right, but instead of TAKING AWAY the other peoples right, they should just learn to ignore it and not be around it. the system is fucked. the world is fucked. your right in some points. yet so are they, in a much bigger scale.
"We were like, you know, just reciting from the Koran, and like.. they were like, 'you can't do that', but then we were like.. freedom of speech.. but it's religion, so you know? we just want to change the policy, so we can praise Allah at school, where we learn, you know? like, from the book of Islam, right?"
i'd wager everything i own, that this student would shut the fuck up the second some Muslim students wanted the same thing.
I understand the seperation of church and state. I am not saying they made the right choice in sueing. I am saying that the people on here saying shit about "I wouldn't want them Bible thumping me" are assholes. They aren't preaching to you, they are preaching to themselves. You have this happen to you in the real world, see what happens when you complain.
@XPoizonIvyRoseX I graduated from here in 2009, I was there. There is a mormon church right across the street that people can go to for seminary, which is actually a class at our school (that is not a credited class, but mormons still have the option to go there) and they could go there. Since they are Christians, that probably wouldn't work.
But they dont need to be doing that in school. At least not out loud. It was in school, it was offending someone that was in the classroom, badda bing badda boom. Seperation. The fact that they are "preaching" to themselves makes some uncomfortable.
6). Everyone needs to learn how to play with the cards dealt to them, so if something is making it hard to believe in your religion is it REALLY something you believe in or should you shut up and take a fucking look around?
4). I do NOT care what religion you are (because they all have good points), you are no better than everyone else, and we all deserve to be equal. 5). Rules and laws are to be in place ONLY to protect others from their freedoms being taken away. In other words a rule put in place to hinder ones freedom of expression is completely illogical.
I don't see why everyone commenting on these videos decides to go and act like a bunch of dipshits. 1). You have less freedoms in schools than you do in jail. 2). Everyone deserves the right to talk, discuss, and sing with one another wherever they went; however, not always WHENever they want. 3). Religious dress/symbols have to be carried with a person at all times in some religions, so trying to ban those is completely wrong!
@XPoizonIvyRoseX "Religious dress/symbols have to be carried with a person at all times in some religions, so trying to ban those is completely wrong!" No one is banning those, no one said anything about those.
these people are fucking fags and they should drop out of school because religion is the most ass backwards way of thing and there is no way of teaching religous freaks any thing so they are just taking up space i dont want to be sitting at lunch and listen to a hole bunch of closet fags sing hims this kid is talking a freedom of speach well have a the freadom not to listen to a whole bunch of cock suckers singing hims
wow dude. you go on the news and talk about something being nervous. grow up. people like you give technology a bad name. what is honestly the point in putting other people down on the internet? if you have something to say to him meet him in person because no one thinks your funny.
ive been researching this myself and most states and for sure in california the cal. education code states that on school freedom of speech/press is regulated by the principle however cannot take away rights given to the pupil off campus by federal or state law. so technically nobody can stop them. im fighting the removal of pagan and wiccan symbols off of the dress code. which is really the same thing
no, its not really the same thing. these kids aren't trying to push their beliefs on anyone but each other. you however, are. i hated parents like you when i was in school.
This is stupid, if they understand theres a seperation of church and state then they should understand they cant do it at a public state run school.... you want to thump ona bibles fine, do it at one of your homes, end of story, "errrr lets sue him for a dollar", the only statement youre making is you are seeking special treatment just because you think you should get it, follow the rules losers.

the serperation of church and state:
students sing about a mythical being = church
the school (even though millers an ass) = state
the came and seperated them.
all this is about is attention. just like when i went there.
