One of man in the Korean Top Gear had said it that he wants to get a Mercedes CL rather than having SLS because CL has also the same feeling but then I think SLS is quiet suitable for those who wants to run like crazy cause the CL does not go over 300 km/h faster than SLS.

@gettodj No, it´s just AMG. They promise you 500.000km fun with your engine if you don´t modify it. There are offers for tunings up to 750hp. But this will make your engine quit service ealier. Let´s be serious, 500hp should be enough.

For instance, I am looking to buy a C6 supercharged Corvette that should push somewhere around 700hp. That is what I call enough, wheelspin at 130kmh..
@vindicator2008 you are absolutely right. You couldn´t have enough power. The more the better. But power maximum and race performance is not the intention if you buy a CL from AMG. If you do that you want comfort at it´s max and high cruising speed abilities. Both is combined perfectly in this car. Where else could you enjoy a heated massage at 250km/h or more and simultaniously watch a DVD? :-)
@MrDutchTutorial Maverick is correct. The main difference between an automatic and a manual gearbox is that the automatic doesn't have a clutch. A stock produced clutch from Mercedes wouln't handle the torque, especially 700 Nm. So, if you would have an manual gearbox, the clutch would pretty much look roasted and barbequed, aswell for the syncronization rings too.

No, the 360hp version without kompressor runs only 280 km/h. The pre facelift is pretty much the engine out of the 500 series of mercedes, tuned up by AMG from 306hp to 360hp. The best about the new engine is the sound of the kompressor working with full throttle. :-)

i'm asking cos i'm intrested in one of those engines...S55 or CL55 from year 2002/2003 pre facelift and they both have the same engine...280km/s is ok too though but if they would run faster even better ;)

@SEXYERDAL Der Wagen ist Vollkasko versichert. Bei 45% und diversen Vergünstigungen bin ich bei 1200,- Das ist ok für ein Fahrzeug dieser Klasse.

I wonder how is the fuel consumption at that speed. My Volvo V40 2.0t 121KW takes 25.5l/100km at 230km/h :)

The fuel flow estimate is about 35 to 40l/100km. But you won´t be able to run that distance at this speed. :-)

It is the 500hp version. With 360hp you´re only able to cruise at 280 km/h. Without the electronic limiter it would run approx 320 km/h
