The way it works is whenever The Pokemon Company starts a new generation, 2 new core game comes out (Red, Gold, Ruby, Pearl, Black ect.). Then a remake of the core games comes out with an updated story (Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, Platinum, and soon Gray). Then remakes of older games come out (Fire Red, Heart Gold, and soon a remake of Ruby and Sapphire). Then they begin a new Generation.

@TheCaptainClamy You have to find a specific plate that lets him keep Origin Forme (it's around the cave he was in in Diamond/Pearl, I believe) and give it to him.

You should be able to find a new copy of Platinum somewere without too much difficulty (it's not as hard to find as Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn).

I'm thinking of buying a Pokemon game for sheer nostalgia. The last one I played was Silver, when I was 10. A long time ago. Is it worth me paying for a Pokemon Platinum, or should I go back to SoulSilver?

Will the huge jump into the unknown be overwhelming, or will it be great in comparison to something that I know much more about in SoulSilver? Price is about €15 cheaper for Platinum so it will help in my decision making!

@Bazzer239 Well, SoulSilver is amazing, but Platinum represents a greater change. My advice is, buy Platinum, don't listen to what other people say about new pokemon being weird. You easily get used to them, and both the scenarios and the soundtrack are great, as always. You won't be disappointed.

@Bazzer239 It depends on how much you are willing to spend. Maybe the best solution would be to buy both, but if you're buying just one, then perhaps you should go for Black or White. On the other hand, if the last game you played was Silver, the differences between these two games could be too much. If you were to buy Platinum first and then Black, the transition would be smoother.

I think one thing that I've learned is that I'm not buying Black, and I've found some cool prices online (as apposed to nearly double that in store) so I can buy both SoulSilver and Platinum, and then smooth myself into the Black/White versions slowly.
