Took the good bus on this trip, but we've taken lots of the kind in this video too. I gotta say about the people in Central america....they can fix anything. lol
@Yenypm Cool. We had a couple of meals in San Salvador and poked around, but didn't stay overnight. No need to thank us. We're glad we went. Good people, El Salvador. By the way, Google "images of today's el salvador". The first entry should be an article that we wrote on our website Uncornered Market about El Salvador. I think you might like it.
Like it how the guys were able to fix the bus right on the road without having to take it to a mechanic or something. Overall enjoyed the video, thanks for posting. It truly gives me the feel of how people in Central America cope with every day situations they encounter.
@GregLA818 Glad you enjoyed it. The whole situation was simple, yet incredible. Everyday sort of breakdown, then tying up the suspension with chunks of wood and chains. Fortunately, most of the buses we took in Central America, while crumbling, didn't actually break down.
so where are the chickens? I don't understand why they call it a chicken bus if there is not one single chicken inside the bus. what is the story behind the chicken
Actually, we've been on plenty of buses with chickens, goats, and pigs. I also think it's called "chicken" because when you find yourself traveling on one, it feels like the driver is playing chicken with all the other vehicles on the road.
@umarket aww man, I bet that's scary. I saw a documentary, those who do ice road truckers, and they went to india to drive on one of the dengerous roads to pick up loads and drop them off at the top of this huge mountain and one of the truck drivers really hated the bus drivers, he said he wanted to punch them LOL

@gtaichung I didn't know they offered a "good bus" option for this trip!

@umarket Sorry misread your description. We took the Tica bus From San Salvador through Honduras to NIcaragua, it was 30$.

@gtaichung I see. No worries. Border crossings are fun no matter where and which one.

Hahaha. I had many of those road trips, since I'm from El Salvador. Thanks for checking out my country. Did you guys make it to the city?

The blue shirt guy says "are you sure this is good" as he touches the tire and the other guys responds "it can't be better"
Riding those buses is more dangerous than visiting a bad neighborhood in San Pedro Sula

@javi111276 Now that's perspective...and funny. We tend to take the fatalist approach to these sorts of things, chicken buses included.
