Agreed, in Japan they have showed growth. Their japanese album was stellar! Even the boys (although I didn't like it and it was dissapointing) was a step in the new direction. However the album was actually a regression. They are just changing concepts, not evolving from what they already have.
Granted on Hyoyeon and Sooyoung. Sooyoung is so gorgeous in my opinion, and Hyo is so cute. No matter what group, everyone should get equal camera time. I am sick of seeing the same members in my face.

well the reason why Yoona gets the most camera time is because, obviously, she's the face of snsd. Taeyeon and Jessica get a lot of camera time because they're the main vocalists. Sooyoung actually gets a lot of camera time when it comes to variety shows, but yeah not that many lines in songs. and Hyoyeon, you would think she would get a lot of camera time because of being the best dancer, but snsd are singers (mainly). but yeah i agree that Hyoyeon should get more shots than she normally does.
Hmmm, soooooooo I'm really interested to know what you think of Mr. Taxi? Was it exceeding your expectations? Because I feel like it definitely made Hallyu Wave step up to the next level, like what you wanted to as SNSD being the leaders, and adding to that, Soo Young got a lottttt of camera time on that MV :) SM is just making small steps.
I love and respect Hyoyeon so much. Although she doesn't receive as much camera time as the other members she says, 'It doesn't matter where I stand, whether front, back or middle, as long as I'm up there doing what I love. It's enough for me'

well for starters, the first priority of the camera is to focus on the one singing, and hyoyeon usually only gets like a few solo lines. but ya she still gets less camera time which is unfair. but jessica being my fav member im happy she gets alot of camera time =D. Think about it. What is SNSD's main viewers? Young blooded-men and .. old guys. If they were to give time and attention to Hyoyeon, it would probably be in vain as it would definitely shadow all of the 'popular' members. She has a mediocre voice but has great skill in dancing (which most the other members don't have)- still, it would just make the others a lousy image at dancing, which SM don't want.
But, I guess it wouldn't hurt for Sooyoung or Hyoyeon to have more camera time, eh?
You know what I wanna see in snsd's next come back? An awesome 30 second hip hop dance thing in the middle of the mv, with my baby hyoyeon in the middle staring at me with those gorgeous eyes. Yes I'm a girl, but I agree with Ellie that hyo should get more love :(
pictures have been showing that yuri is in the "center" instead of yoona now, they usually always put the prettiest 1 in the middle because ur eyes always go there first, and yoona is losing that to yuri! no offense to yoona fans but yes!! lol I luv luv luv hyoyeon shes my absolute fav because she can dance the best and she has a much much better voice than yoona, and she lead dancer so she should b in the middle!

Umm the girls you mentioned who "don't get camera time" do have the spotlight just in a different way. Hyo is the main girl when it comes to dancing in their live Perfs she will get her own dance break solo, so I understand they are not shown on the videos often but they are showcased in a different way
@NatGirlicious but you do know people are most likely gonna view a music video millions of times and in those times hyoyeons popularity isnt increasing as the other girls, plus sm didnt even consider doing a dance break for hyoyeon like in genie for hoot.

You can see SM and the other girls trying to thrust hyoyeon into the spotlight but what can you do when the bangsong PD's are ratings focused. Hyoyeon is just not photogenic. I agree with you. Even though I'm Taeyeon biased, I also think Hyoyeon should get more lines and camera time. And maybe a dance break (without sharing it with Yuri) like ITNW and Genie?
Hyoyeon may not be the best singer of the group, but I wouldn't say Yoona is so much better than Hyo and she gets a lot more camera time.
Also, what you said about their concepts is true. They need to do something really new and different. Like with RDR it was good because it was so different from what they had done before. Even if they came out if a new cutesy song they should do something more out of the box.
True, been into k-pop for 3 years. It was this year that I started liking them. I like SNSD just not SM's way of marketing or how they make the girls portray as but then again, it's what makes them where they are now (the height of their career). I feel bad for Hyo cause even she's aware of her popularity. I remember seeing a clip where her member joked along the lines "No person ever picks you." It was joke but it was still the truth and it would hurt me greatly if I was Hyo.

The first time I watched Snsd's music video, back when I didn't know anything about Kpop, the only thing that drew me in was Hyoyeon. She stood out the most, and at that time I didn't know any of the other members neither did I care about them cause their look didn't strike me the way Hyoyeon's did. I thought Hyoyeon had the most unique features and the most gorgeous face! I really think she'd have a very large fan base if SM decides to give her the same exposure as the other girls. Hyoyeon <3

See the thing with SM is that he doesn't like to mess with a working equation because while he is a genius he is quite greedy. Cute catchy SNSD music makes him a lot of money and increases the awards they get as proven by the success of songa like Gee versus songs like "Run Devil Run". Same thing for member exposure, Korea really likes Yoona, so while she doesn't really add much to the group vocally she will always be front an center because thats what makes SM the most money.

And if you watch the live performances for Hoot.. in most of them, Soo & Hyo had the loudest cheers by KSones, so I guess they are starting to want more of them too.

I totally agree with you. The first time I watched the vedio, i liked it but as soon as it was over, I felt like I saw all the members over and over again and not HyoYeon. That really made me angry, because it feels like she never gets the time as the others, making her invinsible and disregarded. I feel like eventually people are not even going to recognize her as a Soshi member.

before, i kinda found hyoyeon to be out of place. i remember in one interview she was talking about how she didnt wanna join snsd cause they were all cute and danced with lollipops.
but the fact that i never got to see hyoyeon made me so much more curious about her. and i ended up watching all her interviews and variety show cuts, and i fell in love with the girl. she's a sick dancer, she has a great personality and is really funny.

The main decision is all up to SM. Sometimes I don't think they care about what the fans think, so long as they buy the CDs, go to the live shows and think good things about [insert idol name/group]. Generally, that's how the music industry works.

I feel like SNSD doesnt really care for camera time, from my perspective, i mean they have busy schedules and they dont really have time to think about who gets to be on screen..they worked a lot for hours doing shows and performances and practices and even getting enough sleep..and ive seen quite of a lot of people who really likes hyoyeon and sooyoung..i mean, its only SNSD's 3rd year and they accomplished so much
i agree with everything. i like SNSD but they kind of do the same thing all the time. I like how they changed it up a little with Run Devil Run but it wasn't that far of a stray for them. And some of the "members" to me seem more like glorified back-up dancers. Like how the pussycat dolls were, there was "nicole" and then there was "the other 4". There's "yoona, tiffany, taeyon, and jessica" and then there's "the other 5".

I think it based on talent/skill.....Hyo-yeon, Soo Young, and EVEN Yoona are not really good singers. Granted Yoona gets a lot of attention, but that's because appearances in dramas. If you were to rank the best singer to the worst....they fall to the bottom. I always thought they should convert one of them to be the rapper of the group.

"HooT' I have a love/hate relationship. I love the whole "James Bond/Robin Hood" theme. I love the outfits and dance the moves. What I hate about it are mainly "Tiffany & Sunny Blonde Looks." I don't love it and wished they were back their natural color. As in terms of your terms of meeting expectations for their comeback "Yes." It's expected that they'll make a come back song w/the greatest of dance moves. I just wished they would break out & do something more than the usual as you stated.
I would have to agree with your vlog. I do agree that SNSD members do get more camera time than others. HYOYEON and SOOYOUNG are at the least camera time favs. Hyo Yeon is one of my favorite amongst the other members only because I think she's more down to earth as far when I watch her on different variety shows. Soo Young on the other hand is just tall and pretty and would stand out amongst the members but I do believe that she does stand in the background more than upfront.

Sooyoung actually gets a lot of camera time when it comes to variety shows, but yeah not that many lines in songs. and Hyoyeon, you would think she would get a lot of camera time because of being the best dancer, but snsd are singers (mainly). but yeah i agree that Hyoyeon should get more shots than she normally does.

I love and respect Hyoyeon so much. Although she doesn't receive as much camera time as the other members she says, 'It doesn't matter where I stand, whether front, back or middle, as long as I'm up there doing what I love. It's enough for me'
She deserves so much whether she thinks so or not.
Also, Hyoyeon is apparently more popular internationally especially in Europe and Paris. :)

well for starters, the first priority of the camera is to focus on the one singing, and hyoyeon usually only gets like a few solo lines. but ya she still gets less camera time which is unfair. but jessica being my fav member im happy she gets alot of camera time =D. I think SM should try to balance the camera time for each member more evenly cuz there all unqiue in their own way. One good thing is she got alot of love overseas at sm town paris =D

Think about it. What is SNSD's main viewers? Young blooded-men and .. old guys. If they were to give time and attention to Hyoyeon, it would probably be in vain as it would definitely shadow all of the 'popular' members. She has a mediocre voice but has great skill in dancing (which most the other members don't have)- still, it would just make the others a lousy image at dancing, which SM don't want.
But, I guess it wouldn't hurt for Sooyoung or Hyoyeon to have more camera time, eh?

Also, what you said about their concepts is true. They need to do something really new and different. Like with RDR it was good because it was so different from what they had done before. Even if they came out if a new cutesy song they should do something more out of the box.

True, been into k-pop for 3 years. It was this year that I started liking them. I like SNSD just not SM's way of marketing or how they make the girls portray as but then again, it's what makes them where they are now (the height of their career). I feel bad for Hyo cause even she's aware of her popularity. I remember seeing a clip where her member joked along the lines "No person ever picks you." It was joke but it was still the truth and it would hurt me greatly if I was Hyo.

The first time I watched Snsd's music video, back when I didn't know anything about Kpop, the only thing that drew me in was Hyoyeon. She stood out the most, and at that time I didn't know any of the other members neither did I care about them cause their look didn't strike me the way Hyoyeon's did. I thought Hyoyeon had the most unique features and the most gorgeous face! I really think she'd have a very large fan base if SM decides to give her the same exposure as the other girls. Hyoyeon <3

See the thing with SM is that he doesn't like to mess with a working equation because while he is a genius he is quite greedy. Cute catchy SNSD music makes him a lot of money and increases the awards they get as proven by the success of songa like Gee versus songs like "Run Devil Run". Same thing for member exposure, Korea really likes Yoona, so while she doesn't really add much to the group vocally she will always be front an center because thats what makes SM the most money.

That really made me angry, because it feels like she never gets the time as the others, making her invinsible and disregarded. before, i kinda found hyoyeon to be out of place. i remember in one interview she was talking about how she didnt wanna join snsd cause they were all cute and danced with lollipops.
but the fact that i never got to see hyoyeon made me so much more curious about her. and i ended up watching all her interviews and variety show cuts, and i fell in love with the girl. she's a sick dancer, she has a great personality and is really funny.

My favorite member is indeed Yoona, but I do like Hyo Yeon...
The main decision is all up to SM. Sometimes I don't think they care about what the fans think, so long as they buy the CDs, go to the live shows and think good things about [insert idol name/group]. Generally, that's how the music industry works.
I hope they can throw something different at us. Maybe you should also talk about them promoting their other artists besides their most popular ones who get enough promo... like TRAX? <3

Shut up about Jessica. She didn't get that much camera time. Everytime they started to get close to her, the camera veered off and went to a different scene. Plus, does it matter if Hyoyeon got less camera time? It actually gives her more attention cuz people wonder more about her than the ones always in the shots like Taeyeon and Yuri.

@ThePoptartchick Hyo getting less camera time is an issue because like Ellie said, new fans of SNSD wouldn't know she existed untill much later. And there are people who wouldn't have bothered to be interested into SNSD if it weren't for Hyo. So she needs to be shown more to help attract more fans.

i love this video! because i totally 100% agree with you about Hyoyeon! shes my favorite member and i dont really get to see her! shes super funny and shes gorgeous shes down to earth and very caring! i just wish someday or like you said the next album she gets more screen time then she normally does!

I think it based on talent/skill.....Hyo-yeon, Soo Young, and EVEN Yoona are not really good singers. Granted Yoona gets a lot of attention, but that's because appearances in dramas. If you were to rank the best singer to the worst....they fall to the bottom. I always thought they should convert one of them to be the rapper of the group.

I am a somewhat fan of SNSD. I follow their shows and all, but their songs are only catchy and gets stuck in yoru head but tbh, it's actually not that good. However I LOVE all their personalities. SooYoung is my fav, shes hilarious and pretty. Hyoyeon is my problem. She is very pretty, talanted and SO FUNNY! How come she gets like a milisecond of cameratime -_--... i wish each of them hav equal publicity.

im obviously not blind but you might be. they're all really pretty. and so some of them don't get as much screen time, they still have fans who support them. bashing Jessica, who in my opinion is the best of all 9, won't do anything about Hyoyeon. Jessica got some close ups ON HER PARTS unlike Taeyeon, Yuri and Yoona who were the center of attention no matter what. Ur just butthurt cuz ur fav didn't get as much screen time. Entertainment is business, but i feel that if SM put hyoyeon, and sooyoung smack in the middle, i'd be what ellie wants...the next level. the next level where every member gets the even amount of camera time, and lines in the songs. the next level for snsd is bringing out the underrated ones. okay, sooyoung got more camera time in the MV, but that's because you can't miss her. she's too tall to miss her. SM, GET TO THE NEXT LEVEL!

it's the same thing with Eunhyuk, even though he was like the main dancer he always got put in the back (or side,whatev) but then he came out with abs... not saying that Hyoyeon should gets abs (maybe...) but she has to do something... like possibility requesting more time on shows and such... though like I said, it took Eunhyuk getting abs for him to get a spot light...

snsd needs to go away for awhile, you can tell in their last 4 videos (genie japanese, genie 3D, gee, hoot) how tired they are, they need to go away and regain their passion for being an idol. To me they look like they just don't care anymore.

You totally have an accent when speaking Korean. It's funny. And SM wants to make money, their sole purpose. More than half the girls are useless, they have no talent. They're just pretty. And they use recycled songs that save money and makes even more money. YAY for talentless groups like SNSD.

Taeyeon is my fav member, but Hyoyeon comes right after.
I don't get why people don't really like Hyoyeon, she is an AMAZING dancer, shes really pretty, and shes really funny on variety shows. And to be honest, she deserves more screen time than Yoona. Yoona is pretty and all, but Hyoyeon has so much talent that needs to be shown. SNSD FIGHTING!

"HooT' I have a love/hate relationship. I love the whole "James Bond/Robin Hood" theme. I love the outfits and dance the moves. What I hate about it are mainly "Tiffany & Sunny Blonde Looks." I don't love it and wished they were back their natural color. As in terms of your terms of meeting expectations for their comeback "Yes." It's expected that they'll make a come back song w/the greatest of dance moves. I just wished they would break out & do something more than the usual as you stated.

I would have to agree with your vlog. I do agree that SNSD members do get more camera time than others. HYOYEON and SOOYOUNG are at the least camera time favs. Hyo Yeon is one of my favorite amongst the other members only because I think she's more down to earth as far when I watch her on different variety shows. Soo Young on the other hand is just tall and pretty and would stand out amongst the members but I do believe that she does stand in the background more than upfront.

Seriously, Yuri has been my favourite member since the Kissing You days, but Hyoyeon deserves a lot more camera time. She IS talented and pretty, but people don't realize it because it's never show.

I agree with what you say bout "Hoot". It's catchy and i love it but like you said, there's nothing new about it...nothing exciting. I hope SM will produce something more out of the ordinary for SNSDs next album / MV. As in regards to Hyo, (like most commenters) i agree with Ellie's statement bout her being under-rated. I'm not a fan of them.But, I KNOW THEY HAVE TALENT.They can sing.Not all of them.They can dance.Not all of them too.Now,getting to the point.HYOYEON DON'T HAVE ANY SCREEN TIME.Well,at least she got one of the parts I like in Hoot.Sooyoung and Hyoyeon(And Fany too,but,she's not underrated.) are one of my favorites in the group.(I know it sounds weird coming from an anti IMMATURE SONE) I'm disappointed that they don't get more screen time!>:(
