@bnsf4 I hate how people talk shit when they don't know whats going on.
Most likely they're RIT, and their job is to stand there in case they're needed. They go in if something goes wrong.
If you pay attention, you'll notice a hose line advanced in the front door. That means they're "putting the fire out". You can't send everyone inside to do the same job, theres not enough room.
@jk1320m the fire is ventilated through the roof and the rear window. Positive pressure tactics are becoming more and more common. This fire was cooking and without the positive pressure attack the fire would have progressed much further
Maybe they are waiting to attack the fire, because I noticed the exterior lights are on, and I go to votech for electrical technology, and in one video, think I remember that only those from the electric company are authorized to cut power from the meter box. The fire company is not allowed to mess with that stuff, and they cant just spray water while the house is still energized. Could be waiting for someone from the electric company to come and cut the power before they could attack the fire.
I like how the guy keeps saying "Yeah, it's gettin ready to light up" and yet no water is being put on it. I know i'm not a fire fighter and dont know the protocol, but isnt the main idea to get the fire out A.S.A.P.?? I see FFs just standing in the yard talking. If that were my house, id be pissed and probably grab that unused hose and start putting it out myself. I've seen my citiy FD in action a lot and they definetly dont just stand around while a fire is going on, They act very quickly.
@TheWaynelds There IS water being put on that fire. You can see the color of the smoke changing and when the guy with the camera goes to the rear you can see water and roofing material shooting up out of the hole the fire made. It doesn't always go out easily, lads. No, the idea is to put the fire out without blowing the heat and toxic gas into the faces of firemen/victims inside the structure. That means venting and opening up voids first. Read a manual at least before commenting.
@TheWaynelds I don't know the story on this fire or what personnel was were but if you have firefighters inside the house it is not unusual to have a team outside the house waiting to go in just in case firefighters go down etc. So while some firefighters may look like they are standing around doing nothing in fact they have a very important job at the time.
@TheWaynelds and while you were doing that would die of smoke inhalation and heat. Fighting fire is not a quick process when its in the attic of a house. This was well done most buses that are this well involved early on burn down. If it was this homeowner or residents in the community i would ask my city council why my fire department didn't have a ladder or areal apparatus.
@seanboyffld11 I guess the fire fighters knew this guy was filming it, and decided to let if burn for a few minutes so he could get it all on video. They probably started putting water on it after he stopped filming.
To all who are curious, this is my house and I feel like the fighter fighters did a tremendous job and to answer some questions. The fire started in the master closet and bathroom on the other side of the far walls of the garage. And to the one who commented on my lawn mower, I would love to see you come push a mower to mow this yard. Your only seeing probably not a 1/4 of the size of the yard....lol.....good job to my local firefighters.....OUTSTANDNG WORK my friends...
Its, get getting ready to light off right there, 0:48--waitin for it to flash right there-2:22, 2:54, oh, its so close to lightin off. NEVER HAPPENS! it didn't even show the 2nd sign of a possible flash, stop pretending to know something and take a couple classes jack ass!
eh not a bad job, they should have gone to the rear and attacked it, less potential for firefighters to become overburden by the smoke in the front. Seemed like they just loused about and let it burn, could have been saved except for substantial damage to the kitchen or where ever it started.
you sir, are an idiot!! and definately not a firefighter. You NEVER attack a fire from the burned side, that will only push fire into the unburned. please go drown yourself!!
@MrCaptaincritical1 At least somebody knows fire science! Curious as to what "Fan" he was referring to. As positive pressure while those flames are still going like that is a bad idea.
@MrCaptaincritical1 Never say never. Some places you don't have a choice because you don't have good access. Many houses are small enough that you're not going to push any fire anywhere it's not already at. In a perfect world you are right.
Fixing to light off and cook there asses eh, considering the fire had already vented itself to the exterior through the roof im guessing...no. There are a number of reasons why that thick brown shit was in the garage but the fire was no where near that compartment....so arm chair quaterback, get yourself another set of stripes and find a pencil to push.
Looking back on some of these comments and its pretty obvious no one who is making comments about "flashovers" and "Backdrafts" has actually been in on or seen one in person, or for that matter spent the time to re-read there college text books, maybe check the chapters labelled "flashover and Backdraft". That garage did have some dense brown smoke yes, but it was not coming out with any force which means the fire had probably not even involved that compartment.
Brown lingering smoke in bottom, superheated grey smoke coming from top tells you attic fire especially when you open doors and see nothing. If they wouldnt have opened them garage doors that thick brown smoke was fixing to light off and cook all their asses in a flashover. Guess I need to sit back in my armchair and quarterback but going to the Superbowl for 25 years might actually mean some know what the hell their talking about cause they have been right where these guys are now.

fire is most likely up in the cockloft, would have had to gain entry with the truck company to get water up there- heavy volume of smoke from there, appears to be brownish, so it has gotten to the wood structure
@vball7732 not by far, unless it is a aerial ladder that is pre-piped of has a tower ladder capable of utilizing a monitor- this would have either way been an aggressive interior attack
I've found that fires in newer homes such as the one pictured can often be troublesome. Our dept. would much rather fight fires in older homes. They use lighter wood and beams, less insulation, cheaper siding and shingling, and vaulted interior cielings that drawl the fire right up to the pitch of the roof and cause exterior extension faster. This could have been the case here. I have been to Wichita many times and they have a great fire dept. that makes lots of good structure saves.
that fire was too well ventilated to do anything,,,backdraft??? whose the wanker that even mentioned that???it was a simple room and content that extended into the attic... get in and get it out...
@protectoroffaith if you spent 2 years in fire class and 4 fighting fire you should know if you are not sure you should go back to class do i have to tell you what a backdraft is.
@protectoroffaith I guess they didnt teach you how to spell college, just how to assume everythings a backdraft. At what point was this fire a potential backdraft?
@Dano352 look how lazy and cool the smoke looked. at the peak where it was fast and almost shiny, is very hot, and that could of flashed, but it didnt.
@SeanBlackPhotography ya know, i don't think it's that black and white, i know the FD's around me a re mostly paid-on-call, they don't get enough activity to warrant a full time crew, however, unlike vollies, they do get paid, but they also have a day job....
Ok, it vented itself, so the roof is soft. Better to not put guys up there. Its in the attic, so its just a dirty nasty, "pull all the ceirlings and chase it" fire, now.
What truck work? They laddered the roof but fire self vented b4 they made their cuts. The power was on the entire time. Closing those garage doors would have cut off alot of oxygen being feed to the fire. Fire was above the doors so it wasn't venting it was feeding the fire. Also I'm not going to get started on the PPV fan. Way to feed copious amounts of O2 to the seat of the fire guys.
@ofpdlt12 They opened the garage doors to clear out some smoke so they have a better visibility of the ceiling and what they are working with. It does help feed the fire, but its tough to put out a fire you cant see.

Nice video! They pulled it back from the brink. I thought for sure it was going go. Looked to be smoke fire coming out that vent over the garage. But they knocked it down well.
Kinda odd, dusty colored smoke coming from the bottom portion of the garage.
