Japan modernized Korea, increased its population by two times, brought industries, released all the slave class of Koreans, banned slave system, banned torture system committed by Yangban the aristocrats of Kore, brought technologies to every aspect, built over 5000 schools (Seoul University was built by Japan), jumped literacy rate from around 5% to 65% or so.
