I am actually playing Langston Hughes in an Indie film next month came here for some quick research good job. Is that supposed to be Richard Pryor in that painting of the Bus stop, LOL?
Saying jazz music would be better for this video is obviously being narrow-minded. The fact that we have kept Langston Hughes's poetry throughout this century is fascinating. Who cares if modern music is added to the video? It's amazing that we, even in modern times, respect the hopefulness of these colored men. Jazz isn't the only kind of music paying tribute to that era, by the way.
Well you know what? it was a nice thought anyway, so you guys stop dogging him out, he was trying something that may have hit, he was trying something different, at least I've never thought of doing something like that. However, I did like the song and I will be buying it to listen too.
i really like this...excellent job in utilizing art...it's easy to do the easy thing...takes more courage to step out. i like the music with the man...i like the fact that langston hughes is not stuck in the box of traditional music that is typically associated with him.
Putting jazz would simply just state the obvious, everyone knows Hughes was active in the jazz era. I was hoping that my attempt of cross-examinination of these two different time periods (and genres) would yield a similar dimension...I guess not.
You are not supposed to pay mind to the genre of the song, you should focus more on the message the artist is delivering. Hughes delivered his message during the course of the Harlem Renaissance, through his art, poems and literature. In this song, the artist is asking for someone to take part in a journey with him. "Chasing cars" for the artist refers to exploration, he urges the listener to explore when something is not simply understood, and certainly Langston Hughes did the same.

wtf. this music sucks. put some music that actually has to do with Black Pride and the Harlem Renaissance. you make a video about LAngston hughes, one of the poets ever, and you put some stupid white band. there are so many good black musicians out there. put some blues or something.
And that sounds a bit racists to me. Why hate? Don't you think our ancestors would finally appreciate whites and blacks finally coming together? Don't do this.
Langston Hughes wrote masterpiece poems but the music chosen has nothing to do with the Harlem Renaissance, the spirit of the poetry, the African-American experience, or anything relevant to Langston Hughes' life or works - just commercial junk !

why do you put such stupid music in with such a great poet from a great era? it does NOT fit. some jazz would suit it much better.

I think it's perfect. Blending two fueding races over the years and putting them together to produce something beautiful. Unite people. It's time.
