Ok really non of you know what your talking about. soldierfalcon, this was a great review, that LARP weapons is a childs toy your right, and im glad you now know what a good latex boffer is, but remember so people can be allergic to latex and latex sword are not full contact weapon meaning you need to pull your hit, TheDh0ffryn was right about that, and that is pussy ass LARPing for NERO fans. but if you want to do some real larp (full contact) then here is a place you can buy good low price-
I saw a differnent review (that made more sense) and the sword is hard as rock when you first pull it out but after a while it loosesns up and is safe
first of all, i would love to see you twist a REAL stainless sword like that! secondly, i cut my hand on a kit rae sword just feeling it at the shop! it IS sharp and it IS A REAL SWORD!!!!!
1. This is a "full contact" foam sword. It is not metal.
2. Stainless swords are not real swords - they are wallhangers.
3. A metal object being sharp does not make it a real sword. A quality sword usually is made of high carbon steel. This allows the (properly tempered) sword to bend and not break when hitting something. Most junk swords are made of 440 stainless steel. If you ever own one of these, for your own safety please do not hit anything with it.
@soldierfalcon thank you for the reply, i respect that very much. not all stainless swords are cheap pieces of garbage but, yes, the majority of them are. i do prefer the carbon steel swords myself as they hold an edge way better!
Zzx42, was a disappointing item get the katana. i dont have the metal version, i gave my foam exotath away to my brother because i wanted it for use, this review is dead on, its WAY to hard to fight with. i've had 21 years of experience fighting with swords only the last 4 have been with boffer, but i tell you this is no boffer sword, this is not intented for a light contact sport. BTW my "foam exotath" core broke quickly between the handle and guard in a stress test with it.
@phreakinsane wait, are you talking about the metal one, or the foam one, im not inerested in any use with either of them tough...anyways i already got it, its amazing...

Please someone answer??? I have the choice between getting a folded katana, or this for my Birthday. I really want the katana, but I also really want this. Help please???
It really is a cool looking sword but ya as a group that LARPs every weekend 3 seasons long, this sword does not pass tech inspection as it is too hard and sharp. You can see our video review that talks about the highlights and all that but it didn't hold up, it hurt people and it is just dangerous to promote this as a LARP sword.
This would work good for a prop in a play or filming but not when you are really going to use it as a striking weapon.
i dislike your review very much i ordered it it does not hurt not the mention the vid cam you used doest have great quality noice recep. i have a boffer foam sword and this kit ray foam they sound it the exact same banging against the table i swung farley hard at my wall a tiny chip of paint came off no way this ade a dent in urs unless you have cheap unsturdy walls sorry for the english im learning it as my 2nd languag
this whole vid made me lol, just the way you put it and stuff, but thanks for the heads up. i avoided that line anyway dude to how thin the blades look. it is really neat looking but you know it can't look that cool without giving into some safety or in this case a lot of safety
you said yourself you havent been to larp yet, well guess what you gotta know how to swing your sword, you aren't actually meant to fully smash the other person with it, you pull your hit, sorta like practising kung-fu, you slow your attack and gently hit them, and if you read up on how to use latex and Boffer weapons from any larp style website, most will say that if its your 1st event, they take you aside to see if you know how to PROPERLY use your weapon,
the fact that watching you strike all 3 on the table and you hit the 1st one harder, plus you stated that you made a hole in the wall clearly shows that you lack some knowledge on these facts, in larp you dont go conan and try to cleave someone with a sword swing that has all your strength behind it, you act a strong swing and pull your swing short hench why these weapons are lighter then the real thing so you can perform this manoeuvre and why most larps prefer the "step back" and "Hold" rules
so as someone appears to strike you you step back incase they misjudge their swing, and if they actually hit you you call hold if it actually hurt so the other player will stop and give you a breather and also a chance to apologize for stuffing up, surely your Larp friends have told you about these
Ok whatever dude. I've been fighting for 6 months.
Look, if you want to buy one, buy one. But they're hard as rock. Calimicil weapons are not allowed in many LARPs because they're harder than a lot of other weapons. The Exotath makes the Calimicil weapons seem to be made of open cell foam.
The exotath sucks. If you disagree, make your own damn video. ;)
I sincerely hope you're joke. It is a shitty, 420 Stainless Steel wall hanger. Almost all Kit Rae stuff is thorny, pointy, weak "fantasy" crap not meant for any actual use.
Look up "Albion" or "Angus Trim"... hell, even "Windlass". Those are real swords and knives.
@soldierfalcon *sigh* The reason we BUY kit rae swords is because of how cool they LOOK, and youre right, kit rae swords are not made for fighting but hell if we care about that. i myself have the valdris, the cinthorc, and am getting a few gold editions for christmas. They look amazing and are nice for swinging around. My point is, THEY ARE NOT SHITTY!
I'd like to know where your girlfriend got her Latex sword. It looks to be designed like a cinquedea which as of yet I have been unable to find in larp form.
I am pretty sure it's from the Windlass line of latex weapons. It does look a lot like a cinquedea, but it is a bit longer than historical examples, and the fullers are not pronounced enough. The width and the feel are very similar, though.
You're a shit
go eat yourself

I'd suggest hitting it gently. The travel might have hardened the foam, so working it a bit will probably soften it.

I practice once a week with people who have been doing it 10+ years.
I am not ignorant.
Using the Exotath would be like LARPing with a sword-shaped broom handle. It has -no give-. Can I make this any clearer?
