  • The final tune sounds to me like 'Bímse Féin ag Iascaireacht' from the album 'An Raicín Álainn' by Lasairfhíona Ní Chonaola

  • @Athleticsfan958 I'm pretty sure the tune is old.

"Some say the devil's dead, the devil's dead, devil's dead and buried in Killarney.

More say he rose again, rose again, rose again and married Katie Kearney."

  • The pic of the statue of the man sitting down and the man with his bike is in the village where my family are from!

  • @Pepperami369 I already know this. I have been there and I added a note a year ago saying exactly where it is so there is no need to be so coy about saying it is Easkey, Co Sligo :-) The statue is called "The Time of Day."

  • This is gold dust

  • @DJFozter Thanks :-)

  • I was watching some videos of Kevin Burke when I noticed this one! Great video Iain!

  • Lovely stuff. Has anyone got Kevin and Micheál performing Lord Franklin from their first album(I think) .Still in my opinion the best version and I have at least 7 others.

  • Thanks for your note Frank. :-)

  • lovely. just lovely. I was privileged to meet Micheal a few times and spent some happy hours in his great company. Thanks for this lovely vid! Cheers, pipewatcher

  • Thanks pipewatcher glad you liked it. :-)

  • Where do I get this music from?? it sounds great

  • This is from the album "Portland" by Kevin Burke and the late Micheal O Domhnaill. I don't know where you would get it in NZ . Search for it on Amazon?

  • grand grand very good enjoyed this music very much xxxxxxx

  • Thanks for the comment. leftclog51 :-)

  • Fantastic!! the men and the bike brought a tear to my eye! my dad was from Easkey, we have many a photo taken at them. Sadly he died in 1992, I love the place, they are opposite the lobster pot pub!!

  • I forgot to reply! I was at Easkey in 1986 and took heaps on photos and then I began to wonder why the wee red light in the camera stopped working - flat battery! so very few of the pics turned out at all. Watched a hay rope being made and also watched a bit of a Gaelic football match there - I think it was against Tubbercurry but I''m not certain, I think they were well beaten and one fellow came off with a broken arm.

  • This is such a lovely idea to you who posted it. I also hope Kevin lives forever.

  • Thanks brongaene

  • Just pure magic. The only thing that keeps my heart beating ---- ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

  • This is music.

  • Indeed! Makes me thirst for a pint of the black stuff.

  • Although I generally listen to and prefer Scottish music and fiddling, Kevin Burke has stolen my heart. His extraordinarily fluid, relaxed style raises the hairs on the back of my neck. No other fiddler of any style can come near him for sheer 'in amongst the guts' feel. When I say 'he rocks', I mean it literally: his music rocks, swings and sways like a rocking horse, with the same mixture of soothing and exciting effects. May he live - and play - for ever!

  • I agree. He's the man. Somehow he manages to savor every note, and make sure we savor it, no matter how many dozen notes per second he is playing :)

  • this gaelic song is one of the best of all over the world...

i love irish song! irish folk is the best music!!

  • Thanks for the comment. "Lucy's Fling" is almost one of a kind, but sometimes classed as a Strathspey (which indicates a Scottish origin, but it may be a sort of "Donegal Highland" The song is in Scottish Gaelic. The last tune is definitely Irish.

  • thank you...

i'm italian, so i don't know very good Irish and Scottish music (and maybe my english isn't very good too!)...

i listen it only since a year, but it's since always in my heart!

  • I love it!

  • Oh god, beautiful. I live in Utah (USA) and I was so lucky to see Kevin and Micheal once, in 1982 (post Bothy Band, unfortunately, but just after the "Portland" album had come out so they were still at their best) and I'll never forget them. They just blew me away!! I could not believe that two people playing acoustic stringed instruments could make so much music. Thanks for the memories!

  • great tune and photos. 1st time ive heard this, and it wont be the last. love the old stuff as im getting on a bit now.

  • Thanks for your note, killiekentman. You've a lot of great tunes in your favourites list. All the best, Uistman59.

  • Aw, that was just FANTASTIC.

Thanks for posting. Can listen to

KB over and over again & never get tired.

  • Thanks for your comment bettiebebe. For years I thought that this was from Jackie Daly & Seamus Creagh's album - even though I recognised Micheal Ui Domhnaill's voice. Very easy listening, a great set.
