  • I remember back in May 2000, I was fairly new with computers and I messed up a Windows 95 installation by deleting an important OS file, on a 75 MHz Pentium computer. I had it for about a month, and I used to use it to write. Anyway, I was forced to use DOS, and by complete accident I typed in "edit" and had a word processor. What were the chances. I kind of miss those days, just learning by myself how to use it.

  • where do we type edit in?

  • were is the link i can't find it.

  • @ghimirerobin

I updated the description with a link, it is not the one I was talking about in the video though unfortunately.

  • I just cringed thank god I never used this shitty Os

  • WTF WINDOWS 98!!

  • @vioztraining WINDOWS 98 IS THE BEST FOR EVERY THING.

  • @vioztraining your retarded its the old operaating system called ms DOS

  • do you know the correct PATH to write in Dos to enable my system. It keeps refusing to accept the installation. of win 3.11/ I have old fils from win 95 and win 98 but they are corrupt and competing. Can I delete all command files and reinstall win 3.1? Do i need to obtain DOS 6.22. where can I obtain HIMEM FILES and how to copy them to the hardrive in the proper syntax and folder

  • What's the difference between command prompt and this "ms-dos" ? Thank you

  • @kookie4nookie

Command prompt is connected to Windows so you can type commands like cd /Desktop, and it will take the active folder in CMD to the Desktop, but command prompt is a bit different.

  • @kookie4nookie

Command prompt is just windows Command Line Interface. You can actually use Windows programs using Command prompt. It's not an entire OS, it's just another interface for controlling your MS Windows. MS-DOS is an operating system (like Linux, Windows or OSX). It's very simple, it has its own programs (some of them are compatible also with Windows, just like you can run some of the windows programs in Linux) and no GUI (graphical user interface).

  • @kookie4nookie MS DOS has different commands than Command Prompt.

  • Demasiado largo Para servir Para Nada..........!!!!!

  • @RAMSESTHANATOS

I translated your comment and the translation below just in case you don't speak good English. The video shows the basics of MS DOS in a fairly short time. For a YouTube video it is quite short.

  • lol at OS X at the end :D

  • @Mtei

Lol, I recorded it on a PowerPC Mac in a virtual machine.

  • For help in dos type help

  • Bad command or file name.

  • linux terminal here, dos is a faggot.

  • @Vnix

Linux is awesome, but Ubuntu GUI is probably better than Terminal. Using Terminal and GUI at same time is awesome.

  • how do i open dos in windows 7

  • @beybladerfury

Try going to search in the Windows taskbar, and type cmd and press enter. And you should get something similar to DOS.

  • @macmaster4848 i know im not stupid, thats command promt and it is nothing like dos

  • @beybladerfury

There is no "DOS" in MS Windows. You can only run command prompt which gives you some of the programs available also for DOS.

  • ms dos seriously sucks

  • @Loganiz1337

Why did you look at this video then? How can MS DOS suck if it is what all versions of Windows are based on? So basically you are saying that Windows sucks.

  • @macmaster4848 Well, Windows 98 was the last Windows OS to be based off of MS-DOS...

  • @YouonPictures actually it was windows me, windows xp is when the consumer os's and the professional os's converge to all be nt based. so xp was the mix of 2k and me

  • @macmaster4848 Has no idea what he is talking about.

  • @macmaster4848 all? 3.5/NT4,2K,XP,Vista,Seven don't based on msdos but NT
