I saw this film only once, in German dub-version when I was 10. I thought then that it was one of the most powerful films I'd ever seen. Now, 35 years later, I would surely feel even stronger. Anna Magnani is one of the great cinema stars. In Italy she was rivaled only by Giulietta Massina. This scene took me back to the flickering B&W TV set of my childhood, when I first stared at that electrifying actress. I've seen many of her performances since then, but never again "Hoelle in der Stadt".
