i made my desighn the other day im entering next week what i did i have 2 turrets on the front but armor is over it with the turrets sticking out 6 wheels 3 on each side with armor covering them what i did for the fuel on the flame is mix butane and propane together i read the rules and they didnt mention it and it makes a green flame because of the two that 3000f lol im gonna melt every body armor youll see a flash of green fire then youll see your bot melted :)
The robot with the drum in front is Maximum Impact. I was one of national champion robots. It won the title two years in a row with slightly different designs and two different drivers.
@april76301 Actually, I have read the rules and am currently working with so grad students on the building phase. and as far as not entering there are like 3 local clubs in Florida.
Can you really call these robots? There's very little, if nothing, on those that is actually automated. Advanced battle RC vehicles would be a better term.
YES WE CAN CALL THESE ROBOTS! No one ever called them autonomous robots. they are 15lb Combat robots for the BattleBotsIQ High School and college version of BattleBots. have you ever even watched an episode of the show when it used to be on TV? MORON!
Haha, you went so far as to register an account. Look up the definition of a robot, make up your own mind. And yes, I used to watch most of those shows, those machines are controlled by humans.
I had a cool idea for one of these things. Too bad I go to a private school that doesn't believe in science. The robot had a mace on a chain that was spun vertically by a moter. The entire assembly was mounted on a hammer arm so the robot could be both a vertical spinner and a hammerbot. I'd call it Bang Bang (which is also a song by Rammstein).
Are you gonna do another video of this year's competition? It would be interesting to see some of the fights I missed. You had some real competition this year from the Midwest Robotics League's bots.
The Midwest Robotics League really did come to play! Minnesota has a great BBIQ program and it surprises me that more schools don't travel to the National event. With the competitive events held in and around your state, the robots continue to get better and better. That is what is going to make each team improve upon their designs year after year. Hopefully I will get a highlight video up in the coming days... Congratulations to all those that attended the Miami event!
i'm not really up to speed on events besides combots cup, robogames, mechwars, and steel conflict. i take it BBIQ is a school competition sort of like FIRST robotics
You guys should make sure to visit the Lincoln-Sudbury table. Our 15lbs entrants this year are pretty sorry (being our first attempt and being relegated to underclassmen and incompetent upperclassmen). But our 120lbs machines aren't too bad.
That 15lbs. robot you show weapon testing seems like a mean machine. A mini mag in a 15 pounder... that is serious power. It looks like you will be a player.. At least your machine seems to be rolling, all four of ours are still in parts, only time will tell if we will get them done. At least your going to be at the event!
Well they are in semi-retirement. This year with the four 15 lbs. machines, we had our hands full. The cost of building the 120lbers also played a factor. If the BotsIQ competition makes its way out of Flordia and closer to us, I can easily see X making another run for the title. We have one or two other middle weight designs waiting to be built, but the expense of building and transporting them exceeds our budget this year.
i was there, and im going again this year. I was very impressed with vertex. All of their bots are good, its just when vertex destroyed this one bot that was made of fiber glass and it shattered and like blew up. We actually modeled ours after your ideas. Except we are using a Mag to power ours. cya at the competition
A Magmotor is some serious power for a 15lbs. machine. It is pure overkill, but that is a good thing! Hopefully most of the machines from last year will be there and two new ones. At least one of those is going to be scary... It could be a good tournament!
Your competition will be stiffer this year. I just came back from 2007 PA regionals, we took fourth out of 17. The two finalist bots were drummers on par or better than the ones you made. The one that defeated us was made of titanium.
Anything built as poorly as your opponents was shredded by a drummer, even our aluminum chassis was badly warped.
Well I hope the PA competition will allow us to participate in the future. We have been prevented from being part of the tournament because no one wanted us to go up against your machines. Maybe now the level of competition will allow us to join in the fun instead of just showcasing our machines. Any good videos to post? Or at least pictures...
We had a mini-DVD cam with us for all of our bouts and one or two others. I joined YouTube to post them, and hope to have them up sometime this or next week. Were your bots the ones showcased at TSA states 2006?
I was wrong when I posted earler this week. We were the group that showed our robots at the TSA State Conference. I have been too busy with other things to remeber. But a student reminded me that we were there. Get those vidos up....
Most of the BBIQ 2007 videos are up now, and more will be posted over this weekend. See "PelicanHazard" for more.
As for the PA tournament, I have mixed feelings. A price cap or a forbidden materials list is needed to keep things fair; public schools usually can't afford pricey metals like titanium.
haha this vids cool. i didnt get to see the mini battles last year :\ everytime they had um it got packed really fast so this is nice. hopefully ill be there 07, if i am cya there. maybe we'll take better than 5th XD
This should so be an olympic sport. Where people have budgets of thousands and thousands of dollars to create sadsistic machines. So much fun would that be
It is a real sport....for the mind! Only the smart survive. Money helps, but you can't buy the smarts to engineer some of the most destructive robots... Check it out at BotsIQ.org. Get your school involved!
let me guess, son of X and vertex are being altered :) , well us miami guys have to put our all this time around to give you guys some competition. we really need cnc access to make precision parts -_-'
It looks like this year at least two of these robots are getting overhauld and made more viciuos. There are two more in the design phase that should live up to the other robot's destructive reputation. Time will tell... come back later in the month and ,we hope to have more videos available.
i remember watching that battle of vertex vs master chief.. they got what they deserved on that one.. they won so many battles by .. keep up the good work guys see you at the 07 competition

the proper term is remote operated vehicle. (ROV) but people call them robots because its easier to remember and sounds cooler
