The only thing that wasn't done with software in the whole production from start to finish in katey perry's world wide hit firework was her voice (obviously) and a bass guitar. Everything else was made with vst's and vsti's including the orchestra and every bit of processing. I've no doubt the guitar could have even been replaced with a vsti if need be. Not saying there's no need for hardware but you can do it all with out!

Have you heard of a Producer and DJ called Steve Allen? He is constantly smashing tracks out. He's had number one's on T.I.D and Beatport. Plays and support from the biggest names in the biz and he is 100% Software. Of course he's not as big as Armin for example but as a Producer he is massively respected. It doesn't matter if you use software or hardware synths. Its how you use them. Bit of a cliché but its true.

@pasus3 Indeed! Software has gotten so advanced and so good at emulating expensive, analogue synths that there is simply no need for them in this day and age. All you need nowadays is a good laptop running Ableton/Logic/FL, a good pair of monitoring headphones and a midi keyboard and you're set!

Also most of the crakers for these audio vst's you find on blogs, magesy etc etc and so on are either Japanese or Germans, trying to protect hardware synths sales. So by provided you with the cracks free, the vst, audio softs sales will eventually go down.

But Van Buren did not use any of the vst's existing to make his musik of course, just wondering what are the real synths and production equipment he's been using. You probable will never know about them. Only Vst's are here for you to play with like little kids. So sorry, if I am hurting some, but this is the truth. Some producers ONLY use VST's and Software like Sylenth1, V-Station, Z3ta etc get used frequently. They are not made to be played with like little kids like you say infact they are very useful tools to producers of all abilities within music production.

@malatia7575 they're nothing special. they're like me and you. they use the same software. but yes there are secrets. one problem exists when fai. creating MASSIVE supersaws ... you need a Virus ... which doesn't exist as software and it's expensive. otherwise I produce tracks with top quality and I can prove it ... so it does not really matter if 'pros' use some 'special-for-adults-only' synths cuz' I can create tracks with same quality using low budget vsti' ^^
