Sick, I think I have found my cam and heads. I have a 2002 LS1 T56 in my car and this set up will make it scream. My only concern, do you have a dyno sheet I could see? I dont want to need to hit 7 grand to make power on a DD.
@bradlyj8z28 not sure if you still have questions about this cam...but an MS4 is too huge for a daily driver...you can do it if you want, but it requires like a 4000 stall for automatics if that hints at when the power curve comes in...for a six speed something like their torquer v2 or v3 are great, and i think their 233/239 cam is like a middle ground between the two. All three of those are very streetable, and they make almost the same power gains, just at different rpm ranges.
very misleading peeps, this is a gutted race car, not a street car, set up with one purpose of going down the 1/4 mi. I'm not trying to hate on it or anything, I am a customer of Texas Speed and they have great stuff and prices to boot, but you will not break even 10's w/ this set up on a full weight (street) car.
@mikesanto70 Not sure i understand how it's misleading. We never claimed we drove this car to work. The weight is in the description. This is a race car, everyone knows that. Before this car was trimmed down to attempt to break the record, it ran a 10.70!! It's not hard to make a street legal, stock bottom-end 4th gen break into the tens. The driving factor most of the time is a good driver, weather, and track prep...and of course how can I leave out good aftermarket performance parts! :)
@mikesanto70 agreed. however i am in mid to low 11's with the 228r @ 114 with bolt ons a stall and considering i have a stock 10 bolt and suspension i think that is damn good. i love this cam. it shaves off a 10th each month. haha but d1sc is where im headed. or fmt
@MrMurphy1025 i own a trailblazer ss with the 400hp ls2 and its a 5000lb truck and it moves pretty good stock!!! so with the l92 heads and cam it will be a nasty mofo!
@MrMurphy1025 i dont know what your budget is like but there is a crate motor from gm performance parts called the e-rod and its a 430hp ls3 fuel injected and its designed for older vehicals. the ls2 came in the 05-06 gto,06-08 trailblazer ss,05-07 vette, chevy ssr(later years) so im sure you can find 1 fairly cheap used now. theres also a few other good options. the lq9 and lq4 iron block 6.0,ls1 5.7,5.3 truck motor,6.2 l92 etc... i would really do my homework on which is best for you.
@BLACKLACDTS i really want the aluminum block 6.0 cause the old truck is heavy enough....lol i want some cnc ported L92s, holley is about to release its new 2x4bbl carb tunnel ram, thats what i wana run because i have a killer set of holley 660 center squirt carbs designed by Lonestar Motorsports for a tunnel ram application
@MrMurphy1025 yea thats a good chioce. i am goin to get sum l92s myself soon. i read in a magizine that unless the motor is stroked, has a big bore or nitrous the l92s are plenty on a ls2 without cnc. it was shocking to me but it was tested also they said get the heads plained to keep up the compression of the stock ls2 .it will be awsome with the 6.0,tunnel ram, long tube headers and a big cam!!!! have you decided on a cam yet? i want to do a carbed ls2 s10 when i finish my trailblazer.
@MrMurphy1025 i know!!!! lol and everybody says the other is better!! i have a friend in texas with a really nasty chevy pick up with a 5.3 with a cam and all the bolt ons and its run 12.40s. he and i are goin to spec a cam for what i want when im ready. im not even sure if i will cam it i really want a magnuson blower so it still keeps its stock like driveabilty but will make almost 600hp(blower gives 150+hp). i dont know what to do yet. a cammed ls2 sounds like no other tho....
@BLACKLACDTS its amazing just how durable the stock short blocks are. your friend in tx........... wouldnt happen to be a blue 04-06 maybe, single cab truck around the beaumont area would it?
Question on the stock 5.7L LS1 block, totally stock or forged internals? I'm very new to this and would like to find out. Love the website you guys have. Fire it up !
the only way they ran that time was by doing a custom chasis for the car. madman performance did it for em and that there must have dropped a ton of weight. a 9inch and a huge stall 2. either a line lock or tranny lock as well..just so they can launch at 4in a half grand. but i still dont get how they did 134mph??
We broke our own record at the 2009 GM Performance Parts LSX Shootout couple weeks back. We ran a 9.66 @ 136mph w/ a 1.30 sixty-foot. It didn't hook well and has a lot more in it. We had the MAF on the car for fitment purposes with the air lid but it was unplugged. We ran the car in speed density.
slp exhaust with you YOUR tune and YOUR cam probably won't get you there. exhaust is crap. the ms4 is huge and you will have to shed like 800 lbs off your car and get a BIG torque converter and a 250R transmission and heads and wheels and tires and the list goes on!!!
i want to do the same thing to my car... what will it cost me??? i already have long tube headers and a slp exhaust with a tune and a cam... all i need is a throttle body, a intake, and a different mass air flow sensor????
