St. Denis, one of the early mystics said: The Gospel of Thomas (among others) is the most God-breathed. I agree with him even though I enjoy the traditional four fold canon. Christians often argue...God made the Bible. So, that's that. But, I would ask, did not God allow the Gospel of Thomas to be discovered and spread throughout the internet? People really make that arguement based on their sense of membership to the tradition of Christianity...it is not a true arguement regarding God's Will.

Since Ellen Pagels is still a Christian I think, but maybe she does not view Jesus as a god after all. The Judaic concept of a deity is different from Christianity, of which it understands the Hebrew Bible differently from mainstream Judaism.
@xspettacolare If one stated it was not true, they would be stating a universal negative, requiring all of the knowledge in the universe. Likewise, one could not prove God's existence or the truth of Christianity, but it could be demonstrated beyond a reasonable doubt by various evidences.
