  • How does it affect nature AFTER its being used?

  • Alright, well done and informative. Thanks for sharing.

  • This video is great guys. My school (which is public) got 4th in Reno.

  • cool idea, was your "news studio" 3d or a real set? it looks good

    blain

  • Thanks...Yeah it was a 3D/Virtual News set. It seemed pretty realistic when we were filming so we used it haha...

  • The estimate of 5000 gal/acre/year is on the low end. Check out a company by the name of Vertigro. They are estimating 100,000 gal/acre/year with their process, right conditions, and a high yield species of algae. With more research, and as technology evolves, even higher numbers could be achieved for LESS than it costs to drill for crude. Also, algae is edible, gas and groceries from the same source! Years from now, the US could go back to exportng oil. Making money instead of spending.

  • I've crunched some of their numbers... they are pretty optimistic. The "official" number that Valecent gives for their system to investors is 33,000 But I definitely think Algae is the future of bio-fuels, and bio-fuels are the future of transportation.

Very well made video by the way. Simply can't beat the news set.

  • 5000 gallons/acre/year eh

  • Yeah thats the proposed estimate... could be more though depending on the algae type. certain types have a higher yield than others.

  • yeah it seems about right.

i can't wait until we all start growing this stuff instead of corn etc.

  • The hydrogen car is fools gold. Algea for biodiesel is where its at.

  • Nice!
