I think you're thinking of Rob D - Chateau, which was in the Matrix: Reloaded movie. This track sounds similar but I don't think it was in any of the Matrix movies.
I don't think its soo bad now. He has mellowed out and you are seeing elements being copied. The X6 isn't as harsh as that first 7 series. Even the 5 grows on you I think.
I hated the looks of the 5 series when it first came out, now i just tolerate them.
the 7 series and the z4 weren't bad but thats before chris was chief designer, now that he is the chief designer BMW's designs have gotten worse and worse. I see BMW going more with market trends than sticking to their previous and well proven strategy's of the past. I think the biggest tragedy is the latest M cars, they really don't live up to their heritage.

the trend was created by BMW. you see flame surfacing on alot of cars now, not as much as BMW, but its still there.
