Maury muehleisens contribution to every aspect of Jims music has never been truly acknowledged and recogniZed! Just sit down gather every Croce song you can get and listen. I truly believe without Maury Jims success before and after their death would have never been! My highest regards go equally to Jim and Maury! Investigate the music, I believe the unfortunate, little known truth of Maurys gift to Jims career is not known and appreciated by many. Remembet Maury too!!!!!
@Jawbreaker424 That's true. Maury was one of the best country guitar solist ever even until today. He was the silent guy in the background who did uncredible contribution to the greatest songwriter ever lived. I'm sure Jim knew he was playing with god himselve.
The so called other guy, for lack of better words in all Jims videos was Maury muehleisen, trained in classic piano, trained himself to play guitar at 17 and passed with Jim in natchitoches la plane crash along with four other men
I always loved this song, but it didnt hit me completely til i woke up this morning, and for the same reasons jim stated, i finally understood that, right now, these dreams are the only thing keeping me going.
Un-f'ing-believable talent!! DAMN this guy was good. God must have needed a singer/songwriter for heaven...how great could this guy have been if he had lived??
I love his music, that said, what did his parents feed him because he is only a few years older than me in this video.. and he looks like he could be my dad.. or my dad's older friend.
@TheIdiotninja What ever they feed him must have been in the "boxes" they found on the unfortunate plane crash that took this great song writers life! Long live great music!!
Sadly, a lot have gone the same way. Probably nature lends them to us for a little while and takes them back so that they won't have to suffer our daily turmoil for too long of a time. Thanks Jim and Maury!!!!
He was good, no he was a great songwriter and singer...........Your right music today is just mostly trash............ the 60, 70 were great decades for music .......
He was one of the best singer songwriters ever. Not sure I've heard anyone express feelings better and in a beautiful way. He died the year I graduated college and had two or three songs chart after his death. We did miss out on a lot of beautiful music by his passing .........and we need that today for sure.

It tears you apart ánd it makes you love, it lets you down ánd it gives you hights, it lets you cry ánd it reaches your deepest feelings, it is sad ánd it it is happiness... it's simply wonderful!
I grew up with the music of Jim Croce, and in all those years I refound, and refound, and refound him! GREAT MUSIC!
I am so glad I grew up listening to his songs though I am from a 3rd world country in a small town where English isn't our language and english songs weren't commom. back then I remember listening to his songs like million times a day despite not understanding a word I broke the cassette tape and had to seal it with sellotape. That's how beautiful his songs are to me and to many from around the world.
beautiful...altho I'm saddened by the realization that the world lost Jim Croce and an unknown number of moving, joyful, profound songs by his early death.
He was the best..... He had the ability to write a song that took you there, and made you remember those tender moments.... He could sing with his heart and his music takes me back to when I fell in love for the first time!
Yes I am only 13. But I love Jim. He's one of the most talented singer-songwriters in human history. He has a beautiful voice and write amazing songs with wonderful lyrics. Each song of him is perfect. The first song I've heard from him is 'Photographs and Memories'. I love the lyrics and I cried everytime I sing or listen to it. R.I.P. Jim. We love you and thank you for your amazing music.
I was so fortunate to have seen Jim only a couple of months before the plane crash.Just the two of them and you could of heard a pin drop. That was a wonderful time. I am so sorry they were taken so soon.
Now you can just take off your clothes, and dance provocatively and become the next famous musician. Back here is proof that talent was respected. I wasn't alive to see this, but i'm glad there is proof that it exsisted. Rip Jim Croce, I guess I'll have to say I love you in a comment.
@boopyboy1 just heaven will be fine. but yah id love to see my grandpa & see hows he doinn...... & so many friends. but yeah jim coce would be the music id be listening to. this songs reminds me of my dad... idk just makes me catch a few tears every once in awhile...
Well said my friend and I know how you feel. This generation know nothing of real music and beautiful lyrics. Songs that paint a picture in your mind. Lets hope that some day they will because I'm sick of BOOM BOOM BOOM every time I turn on the radio.
@jackanto10 That isnt really true im 13 years old and i love his music too so there are (younger) people who doesnt like him and only like BOOM BOOM BOOM but not every kid

lots of talented muscians from the same period have lived to see their music eradicated. But not Jim Croce..his music is truly immortal. An african american fan, I am addicted to the wonderful stories of' roller derby queen', and Don't mess with Jim. I really think there should be a class in Jim Croce, the singer-songwriter as observer of the microrganisms of time and history.

Once, 10 years before MTV, you caught an act on TV by accident that was exquisite. Croce's star was just rising. It was always a thrill to see him play live like this. Now he's relegated to "SoftRock" stations by corporate yuppies. He was better than they could ever imagine.
Many thanks to whoever uploaded this beautiful song!!! I was always a fan of his---was a senior in high school when he passed but the only recorded music I have of his is 2 or 3 albums--Ya'll know VINYL!!!! Just so glad that I can listen to his great songs again---cause I no longer have a turntable!!!
If you have never heard this song or even if you have never heard of Jim Croce before...if you listen to this song 2 times and I guarantee that you will be back again and again. There are no backup dancers, no huge band, no wardrobe malfunctions. It is just Jim and Maury Muehleisen and you could have dropped these guys in a forest in the middle of nowhere and they would sound just the same as they do here...probably better. All of Jim Croce's music was/is that way.
I had tickets to Jim Croce's concert at Pine Knob in Michigan a week before the crash and didn't go because I was sick....talk about feeling sick, missing one of his last concerts. He was great!
I agree with everyone of you who love the music of Jim Croce. I just wish someone out there would make a feature film about his life, and his relationship with Ingrid. There are many words to describe his songs, all of them synonyms for SUBLIME. In a Post-9/11 world we need his music more than ever, they remind us why Life is worth living and how very very short it is.
I was 14 years old when Jim and Maury have left us. I am now 52 and still listen to them, I still get emotional, yet I play them, even gift them to those who love music. Thanks Jim, thanks Maury ...... those fortunate souls who have just heard your new tunes
One of the biggest tragedys is there are hundreds of talented artists and song writers in America today just like Jim. But most of you will never hear them because of the stranglehold by corprate owned radio stations and the present mass media. So.........
Enjoy the rap and Disney mash artists spoon fed us daily.
@2icecantata - thank you Itchy Knee. I used to do this song as a young boy. And now, looking back, I laugh at the thought of singing such lyrics at that age :) You continue to impress -- and please, don't underestimate your wonderful knowledge of music
Too bad these days of old have passed, when singers reflected what the human experience is. Today's music lacks connection and truth! Glad I was alive during this era...and do remember hearing his "new" songs coming in over the radio in my dad's station wagon. :)
He is brilliant. I had just graduated college when he died in that dreadful plane crash. Still his songs are just as relevant and pure as they were almost 40 years ago. Wish we had people like this still getting radio airtime.
Cat Stevens, Jim Croce, N Gordon Lightfoot. God, so many nore, the music was pure, simple, n beautiful. So much was lost down the echoing hallways of my memories. I kept myself from going insane by listening to the pure harmonious strains of these storytellers. I wish I could tell them all what they meant to me during those days. And GOD knows the kids deserve thier own storytellers full of hope! I know. There were times music was all that stood between me n a swan dive off a pier!
a song that was intended for all separated lovers that whenever i hear it makes me stop and think of the times and ask myself why, great song from a great singer. ill miss jim as long as im gonna miss my husband too.RIP
I too am only 18 years old. I guess you don't always need age to appreciate great music. Jim was an amazing musician. His songs will live on for generations to come. His songs always had such a profound depth to them. The kind of depth where he could make you relate to what he was saying even if you have never experienced what he was talking about. He made you feel it on the inside. This is music that I will listen to for my entire life. R.I.P Jim.
@shredzilla71 its great your that young and have a open mind about older music.im 41 and still keep up with new music but its music like this that reminds me up growing up.
I remember like it was yesterday, visiting my ex-girlfriend at her dorm room at Mount Holyoke, over winter break, in 1974. I was trying to act cheerful and be strong, and we got to talking about what happened - why she broke up with me. She said she was confused, and then played this song for me.
I didn't cry back then, but I'm crying now.
Jim's music touched me deeply back in college then, and it does so still.
I grew up with this mans music playing alot as a beautiful soundtrack . . I was 10 when this special man passed away . . I miss his music so so much. Bless You Jim. May you be playing a sweet song in Heaven.
What a great man. Imagine if he was still with us today? Imagine what he would write? I can only dream. It's so unfair that his life was cut so short. Thanks for this great post.

I had tickets to Jim Croce's concert at Pine Knob in Michigan a week before the crash and didn't go because I was sick....talk about feeling sick, missing one of his last concerts. He was great!

This reminds me of the life I had with my late husband...sad song!

R.I.P Jim.

What's wrong with the 2 people who disliked it? They should be banned from listening to music forever.

This brought back so many bittersweet memories!
