  • Just outstanding.

  • Looks cooooooooooooooooooooool

  • Hello, for the CS80 emulation, i use a SQ80 VST

  • I know the ESQ pretty well and am impressed with how you have used it here. Well done!

  • Absolutely mind-blowing! You are some kind of wizard, mik300z! I can't believe that the ESQ1 can sound like that. Can you please reveal if you're using external processing for your ESQ1 brass sound? Or is that just the ESQ1 on it's own? Thank you for posting your inspiring performances!

  • dont know why but this song reminds me a lot of the myst game it has that simillar feeling to it

  • this is what i call real music not the garbage that we are flooded with these days

  • an eixa ena tetio dwmatio, oi filoi mou tha kanan kairo na me 3anadoun mposta tous. ; )

  • Very nice! you really made it your own...and those vangelis textures you created are amazing! nice job m8

  • I'm not sure the English language has the words to describe how I feel about this. But I'm so glad you took the time and effort to do this Fantastic!!!.

  • Good lord this gives me goosebumps! As an avid fan of both the movie and Vangelis' work, this is truly inspiring. Thank you for posting this!!

  • That's a Juno 6 at top? For a sec, I thought it was the 106

  • Wow if I would not have listened to this would never believed that a ESQ1 could nail the sound of a CS 80 , here goes another illusion lol. Great performance by the way, your sound is very close to the original.

  • Absolutely amazing!!!!!! Wow! I am speechless. Would love to know more about your way of programming those signature sounds. Would you do some tutorial videos about how to create those signature Vangelis sounds? This would help many people who would like to dive in into this kind of music making. Again, thank you for sharing this with us. Wow! Bravo!

  • Nice work!

I'm trying to find a sound that's in a part of bladerunner in the club scene

It's like some kind of space-aged disco tune, the sound repeats itself a few times

Like bew.. beww... bew.. reminds me of buck rogers for some reason..

wanted it for a tune i'm making

  • This is exceptional, btw. Favourite movie soundtrack and flawlessly replicated.

  • Vangelis, Wakeman, Emerson or JMJ? Which do u prefer?

  • Wow, absolutely astounding. It's even better than the original! Also, I have never seen so many pianos in my entire life.

  • love it ,, would love to hear you do some tomita ?

  • I would pay to see you perform live. Great work brother.

  • The two dislikes have sores on their lips from tasting pee pee.

  • Too amazing for words ... I want to create this type of atmosphere in my music, hopefully I will be able to eventually ^_^

  • I am a synth-player like to be, and not only is the sound you create amazing, but being able to watch you while on this musicle journey for me is exciting to watch! Thanks for posting.

  • This is by far the best cover.

  • stunning cover...incredible sounds.all the best

  • this is just sublime bravo to you peace from scotland

  • @murfyness Cheers, and greetings from Ireland

  • Hi, sounds great, great job; you mentioned those are "affordable synths" how much did the cheapest and the most expensive cost you?, i'm thinking of buying a synth myself or an electronic keyboard but i have no idea about how much do they cost, most likely i'll go for a cheap keyboard for now, 'cause i don't have munch money right now, which one would you recommend?

  • Great sound and It isn't easy to distinguish yours from the original. Love the film and your music.

  • Came back to say: That I've heard a lot of other renditions of this track and yours is so very accurate to the original, it's almost interchangeable.

  • @Johnsys359 That IS high praise...thankyou my friend:)

  • @Johnsys359 I agree you are incredible sounds exactly like the soundtrack (maybe better)

  • Pretty amazing! There is nothing else to say ....

  • are those led lights?

  • Vangelis will be proud of you when he hears these babies!!

  • Wow man !This is amazing.Very well done job.You are great.

  • Where do you live? On the moon? :) Lovely music!!!

  • I have always loved Blade Runner, also the book, I used to be a Private Investigator, and whenever I was on a job, I fantasized about being in the Blade runner Universe, I know it sounds strange, but when you think about it, the world isnt much different right now, to some that is hell, to me, I am just glad to have lived long enough to see it come to live. Fiery the angels fell...

  • :---O ...thats what my face looked like watching this video!

  • ALTA GAMA MICK!!!! You're really good!!! Very well!

  • Jaaaa das macht Spaß würde jetzt Bertram Engel sagen.

    Klasse Performance !!!!

  • I went out and bought Blade Runner after watching this. Great movie, great sound track I've been missing out. Actually enjoyed listening to your cover of the opening track more than the original :)

  • amazing! :D

    This sounded awesome!

Im just browsing around trying to decide what to buy as my first synth. Deciding between Microkorg, Microkorg XL, Roland Juno DI or Gaia. Favorite music genre would be ambient, electro, vangelis :) and sound design.. any suggestions? .. :)

  • @Gulielmi87 After I saw my first Mick video I always dreamed of having an ESQ 1. Those brass sounds are amazing. Just recently acquired one and am having loads of fun. Makes you want to play with it.

  • Excellent dreamy sounds.

  • Jarre and Vangelis have been among my favourite musicians/composers since my high school days. Even 20 years later I still get gooseflesh listening to their music.

I've seen quite a few covers over the years by other musicians. And only a few of them actually manage to get it right. You sir, are definately one of the few. Good work :)

  • EPIIIC

  • Excellent performance. You've managed to reproduce Vangelis' sound perfectly.

  • Very Very Nice :)

  • your studio is FREAKINNN`'''

  • What is in your backline rack?

  • sounds great man!

  • Dude, you are fantastic.

I'm totally jealous of your talent and skills with old synthesizers.

    Keep up your marvellous work.

  • fantástico... muito bom

  • This is fkn great! Spot on!

  • Great Job ! it's amazing the only really good video game FF7 totally ripped off the opening and some of the story from one of the best movies ever.

  • Wow dude very impressive :P

  • Oh my God, you are not the real Vangelis ...?

  • I am so jealous, great vid!

  • this is absolutely great!...raven

  • perfect

  • this is my favorite of all your videos !!!!!!!

  • great vid, great synths. question: what is making the low rumble atmosphere in the back ground?

  • @Johnsys359 Hi, glad you noticed that! It's a preset from the Roland Juno G called "12th Planet", great patch , it builds and builds with a low rumble. I was using a foot pedal to hold it.

  • @mik300z Neat, I guess that's a Juno G patch only, my Fantom x6 doesn't have it. I could create it if I needed it.

  • @mik300z impresionante bravo!!!, saludos de mexico

  • how do you make that brass like sound ? great video by he way respect :)

  • @sirpryde Hi and thanks, the brass is from my ESQ 1 , a patch I made to emulate the CS80, used with hall reverb

  • @mik300z thank you , i have arturia Jupiter 8 and prophet v i am trying to use these to recreate music by john carpenter, Vince d cola and others.

the escape from new york attack brassy sound , do you know what synths john was using for that film and big trouble in little china?

i thought id ask you because you seem to know alot more about it than me :)

thanx for any information you can help me with

keep up with the videos very enjoyable .

  • @sirpryde

The soundtrack is available on CD. The main synth used is a Sequential Circuits Prophet 5.

  • Wow you're amazing! Beautiful sounds man. Sounds just like Blade Runner. =)

  • magnificent !!

  • NIce m8.. Good tribute to the master him self ;)

  • Very good. I like it.

  • Man, Vangelis should be proud of you :-) Really great sound and interpretation !

  • FANTASTIC.

  • MAGNIFIQUE

  • Excellent tribute. Vangelis wrote this in 1981-82 so vintage instruments are appropriate. I am amazed at your ESQ-1 sampling skills...I think the the older instruments had great filters that computers just don't replicate. I have Arturia CS-80v and I think your sample is more true than what I can get from the software. I think you could do a Vangelis tribute tour. Isn't Youtube great for us amateurs and pro-am's, we get an audience without moving our setup. Love the attic too....

  • you made my day

    beautiful!

  • Same as when listening to the master himself.. Goosebumps allover. Awesome.

  • Wonderful !

  • Amazing! Great job!

  • Wow. Just wow...

  • awesome

  • like tears in rain ...

  • that lead sound is sublime!

  • Comment removed

  • Excellent! Now I have to watch the movie again. Thank you for your work.

  • Excellent...

  • dude you did a very good job with this. the sound and emotion that is felt in the movie is heard in this. very well done.

  • awesome, good job!!

  • you, sir, are fantastic. I've just bought an esq-1 and I hope I learn how to play and program it as well as you.

  • Muito bom.

  • :) MOOOOOOOOORE!!!!!

  • Try Blade Runner Blues...

  • Wow, well done.....sounds fantastic

  • Oh.... great great job !! Genius !! Oo

  • GREAT!!!!...

    Thats all i could say.....

  • You know, so many people think there should be a sequel to Blade Runner - I think there should be a Prequel.

How Tyrell came to make Nexus 6; how he replaced himself (as he was dying) and created Deckard in case Nexus 6 went Awol; how only Sebastian knew the truth. God, imagine them making that. I even think Rutger Hauer could play Tyrell's chief biomechanics engineer, even creating Roy in his image to spite Tyrell due to a difference of opinion. Tyrell secretly builds in a 4yr life span.....

  • your are so right

  • @ejac10101 I think there's a book sequel where Tyrell's niece has taken over the corporation. I don't think PKD wrote it.

  • great idea, would love that

  • @ejac10101 I think there should be neither the movie is powerful enough as it is

  • Fantastic work recreating a masterpiece!

  • This gives me chills down my spine...

    Perfect!

  • Thankyou sir!

  • Wow ! I love atmospheric electronica and you have created an amazing soundscape there, well done :)

    Geetings From Brazil...

  • Cheers friend! greetings from wet and windy Ireland:)

  • If I close my eyes and can see the film!

  • Excellent job. EXCELLENT... For being i cover this is truly great... Amazing soundear...

  • wow, excellent! i have the esq, and i have programmed some cs80 type sounds out of it, although not quite as close to your patch (any pointers!?). esq is by far the greatest cheap synth out there. the most fun and pleasantly suprising to program (well next to the 6, 106, jx3p and z1 imo). cheers mick >8)

  • Absolutely beautiful.

  • Very powerful. Just close your eyes and your in the movie. Great job Mick. Now if maybe we can get your take on "Tears in the Rain"".

  • Excelente!

  • You're closer than you think... really.

    ;-P

  • That's a great Vangelis feel . Awesome !

  • Thankyou !! That comes as a great compliment from someone who actually owns a real CS80:)

  • awesome

  • He, fantastic work.. you are an pro-player...but can you say which Hall you use ?? its sounds so big an warm...thanks //com.

  • Thankyou, i'm pretty useless as a keyboard player :) I use the cathedral hall reverb from my behringer mixer, preset 1. Not bad for a cheap mixer.

  • brilliant mate. well done!!!

  • great video!

    thank you very much !

  • Nice!

  • i sold my ESQ1 for dirt cheap not feel bad... but i think im getting the sq80. Yep
