  • she kicked her ASS like a BOSS!!!

  • I have to see this movie! You can't beat some of the lines in these 30's movies! So fun!

  • Wow : ) : )

  • One of the funniest motion picture lines ever, "Outside, Countess. As long as they have sidewalks, you've got a job'.

  • LOL I'm so using that line too! hahaha <3 love it! My great grammy is awesome <3

  • 'As long as they've got sidewalks you've got a job:?!?!?! sooooo using that (credit shall be given!)

  • "As long as they've got sidewalks you've got a job!" *Suh-nap!*

  • Movies were much better during those times. Sad that that type of filming is lost now. Todays Hollywood has no talent imo.

  • Joan Blondell's the reason I want a collection of cloche hats.

  • I love Joan Blondell, in my opinion she stole every scene she was in, no matter who her co-stars were

  • my ex was her grand kid...my son is her greatgrand kid the whole family is wack my ex had sex with my brother i caught em and she kidnapped my child and ran off hes a grown man now ..my crime to deserve this i told her to stay away from my brother the meth dealer no one in my family has seen my brother or her or my son in more than 20 years!

  • @arnoldkevin1 What does all this have to do with the movie clip? Seems someone "rang the wrong doorbell."

  • @arnoldkevin1

    Thats a pretty amazing story.

  • @arnoldkevin1, Seeing as how you left this comment in 2011, and Joan Blondell died in 1979, no one has seen her in a lot more than 20 years. Kind of puts a kink in your little story, doesn't it?

  • GREAT VID! That line will become the new "rad"

  • I love, love, love Joan Blondell. She was like a mixture of Jean Harlow and Ginger Rogers over at WB. Wish she was more well-known.

  • @NoirFemme Well....I never forgot JOAN BLONDELL, it's just that every generation loses a few of it's stars. Today, Leslie Nielsen died. Do you think he'll be remembered 50 years from now? Probably not...it all depends on who's running the show.

  • @ziegfeldgrl Great username.

  • Joan Blondell also introduces her to Cagney: "Your remember miss Bi--, uh miss Rich." Pre-code musicals had all sorts of lines they couldn't have gotten away with later. In 42nd St. a girl sits on a guy's lap during a dance number and he says, "Where are you sittin"?" and she says, "On a flagpole dearie, on a flagpole." Or(referring to Ginger Rogers' character) "Anytime Annie; she only said no once and then she didn't hear the question." Great stuff.

  • @chomsky88 Thanks for repeating some of the little snippets of pre-Hays dialogue which were usually said so fast, that you'd have to see the movie several times just to really appreciate it (good for box office). The girl trying to get off the flagpole was Una Merkel.

  • Joan blondell was the Marilyn Monroe of the 1930's. Betty Boop in blonde.

  • lol GREAT!

  • As long as thety have sidewalks you gotta job - I love that line!

  • now that's my kind of woman-great clip!!

  • yeah go and kick ass woman devil (succubus)

  • she literally kicked her ass. awesome times

  • Joan Blondell, I LOVE HER! Thanks for sharing this clip.

  • Joan is a treasure - she (Nan) also says

Chester Kent: Hello, Vivian. This is Miss Rich. My secretary, Miss Prescott.

Nan Prescott: I know Miss Bi... Rich, if you remember.

  • And she says it so well, as if it was improv.

Joan is one of my all time favourite actresses.

  • LMAO! Nice!

  • all that and still looking cute in her sailor suit.

  • Besides the Busby Berkeley numbers, this is my favorite bit from Footlight Parade. I love Joan Blondell!

  • OMG, I am so using that sidewalk line on some of my friends, LoL

  • @payless1981 lol right..I'm saying that to my sister. Best line ever.

  • is this an underground fight?
