I like Nico's live version (from before I saw the film), but like the original as well (also frombefore the film was released). Brilliant film, excellent choice of intro music.
Have you read the book Heart of Darkness? Difficult but interesting to see where the story came from.
Everyone quotes "I love the smell of napalm in the morning", I agree this quote is badass, but what everyone forgets is the most awsome quote from one of the most brilliant movies ever created.... "The horror.... the horror..." :)
Apart from possessing one of the best movie intros (if not the best), does this brilliant movie also claim the highest number of memorable lines? I say it does. Coppola at his very best. The lighting alone has never been surpassed to this day. Sheen's head slowly emerging from the river has to be one of the many great haunting scenes in this awesome production. Apart from the perfect choice of using Morrison's song, the rest of the movie's music is also impressive. Thank you Francis!!
@Jotgut That was my response to the complete and absolute idiocracy of the people here, who don't want to or simply not able to understand the role of the USA in the world
@jcjordie21 My point was about present day America. Vietnam War was absolutely inevitable, it was some sort of catarsis for american society in 60s and 70s. Actually movie is depicting this very well.
PS: Nobody can fuck a whole country. It is physically impossible. Typing that is meaningless and juvenile. So please stop typing fuck usa or fuck germany or vietnam. The world is fucked enough, stop fucking it. If you have to fuck something, fuck your wife, fuck your girlfriend or boyfriend and if you don't have any of those fuck yourselves (it is possible). This movie is pretty great. The song is awesome. I am still bored and this is my second comment in youtube.
Schindler's List is an American movie which was directed by a Jewish-American man called Steven Spielberg. And as most of the people know, the story of the film is the Jewish genocide which was executed by the German military and goverment (Nazi) back in 1942-1945. So there is nothing to be proud of for Germans about Schindler's List. Of course if you are trying to be sarcastic, that's whole another story and not necessary, not cool. I am just bored and this is my first comment in youtube.
@oligonare Wow what a result! Maybe cause the movie is mostly , shit actually made up as it goes along and Only really found is place in pop culture due to it's cast memorable scenes and soundtrack. (Oh and I just came here cause I like the song so don't tell me to go away)
In 2000, Apocalypse Now was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".
the movie has also over 25 awards and nominations BUT im sure u know better than all the other critics and specialits and everything u cant understand is a shit
@oligonare Perhaps you have never heard of something being hyped up , or overrated. And tell me , what exactly is there to understand about Apocalypse now? No big metaphor , no undertones of human nature or that of society , It's not like Lord of the Flies etc.
@oligonare And lastly , I try not to take too much notice of people who spell things like 'specialits' or 'Registry' Although , being Moroccan , I can't really blame you (The country's illiteracy rate has been stuck at around 50% for some years, with male literacy at 65.7%)
@33COOLStreet sorry man , for my english here where i live , we speak french , and yes u can insulte me if u dont have nothing to say or u feel a little bit idiot , PS : i live in Morocco doesnt mean i come from this country

Second- You are right- Germany is a well rebuild country with great economy. I love the way your county came out of the war. The German people are not lazy....
And third - you are right again- no use living in the past.Germany and Israel are good friends and Germany are wathing our back against Iran and Syria, so thanks for that.
Peace on you, my friend, and the rest of the western and sane world.
i saw this in high wycombe ,england on release , it was a sunday evening and back then ,you tended to get an audience with a good few b+++k kids(im not a racist)cos there wasn't much else to do i suppose, well they made so much noise, guess the film was too deep for em..a guy stood up shouted really loudly to be quiet(effing be quiet)and it worked for about 30's,,oh well.
