if he sang this on wildcard week he woulda got thru! i'm sure they told him to try and find his own sound and he was overthinking toning it down. i agree that he doesn't scream. he's hitting notes guys usually can't hit. it is loud and its not for everyone, but he can hit them notes! haha adam is in a league of his own on american idol this year, but von coulda gotten up there if he'da stuck with the sounds that made him popular.

If he toned it down then he would have potential, but with him screaming through EVERY PERFORMANCE I've ever seen of him, it's difficult to judge just how good he really could be. He's not even versatile either. Mark my words, he will get dominated and RIPPED APART in Idol.
Hes a hell of a singer. You just dont know much about singing. Ive never heard him scream at all. Ive just heard him hit extremely high notes with power, from the diaphram, and not falsetto. They are also on pitch. Few people in the world that are male have that ability. Adam lambert is another one with this ability. Makes me sick when ppl that have no idea about singing say hes screaming. Ask Sam harris what he thinks about Von Smith. And Sam Harris is a great.

You were right about one thing-Adam Lambert can hit those notes. The difference is, Adam actually knows how to SUPPORT it and make it sound effortless. Von has no clue what he's doing. Just because Sam Harris likes him, doesn't mean that everyone who disagrees is automatically wrong.

His mother was my piano teacher, and Ive heard him sing up close and personal. Flawless. Every singer knows theres good performances and bad performances even when you re great. This one was ok. Not his best ive heard. But I know what hes capable of. Mark my word, we haven t heard the last of him.
