  • If you're going to Finland it's okay to say that you have herpes, just remember to say that you have it in your lips.-- I have lipherpes. It's the definition that counts, otherwise people will also think you're carrying STD's.

  • Love the vids with you speaking Japanese w/ Eng subs.

  • Actually, cold sores runs in my family. But so far, I am the only one who has not......could I say had it activate? It seems like I will never get cold sores, but it runs in the family. My sister said I just have been lucky. But I HAVE gotten cheilosis a few times, and I am the only one who has. And that is because I have this really bad habit of licking my lips. I can't help it!

  • In USA we call cold sores Herpes too... It depends on which type. Herpes Type 1 is the oral infection and Herpes Type 2 is genital herpes. Usually, type 1 is transmitted through oral secretions or sores on the skin, can be spread through kissing or sharing objects such as toothbrushes or eating utensils.

  • boy i hope u ok lol

  • cold sores and herpes are the same thing hsv1 and hsv2. You miss have herpes.

  • In Israel we also call the thing on the lips herpes.

  • haha, not sure if it counts, but I was in my Japanese class and the teacher said election, but she has a Japanese accent so one of the derp kids in my class said ERECTION?!

  • We usually call that stuff on the lips "herpes" without ever creating misunderstandings in germany.. so it's really just you weird americans

  • @Nyocurio Lol ya. People sometimes joke about it though. They say, "I have herpes." Because they have a 'cold sore', and it's funny to watch people when you say you have herpes, because it's associated with the STD.

  • @xSRGDarknessx I think it'd be even funnier to say "I have herpes on my mouth".. =P If you know what I mean

  • @Nyocurio Ya, I say that sometimes too. Lol.

  • @Nyocurio Pretty sure she is Canadian lol

  • Hello! I had herpes 6 month ago. My body liiked like misuboso and it was very painful,

when you are very busy and have lots of stress, we have herpes, so don't work hard and have a enough rest. I'm looking forward to watching your videos!

  • Do you live in Japan ? Because I've been trying to learn Japanese for about a month now and I'm having such a hard time with Hiragana. I'm only 17 so i like to assume I'm not too young to learn a 4th language.

  • @TheElie69 Woopsies, i meant too old*

  • @TheElie69 @TheElie69 I don't think you are too old, its more like your will to learn it... I'm trying to learn Japanese as my 4th language too, and I am 10 years older than you, it took me 5 months to learn the hiragana, so what? My advice would be, dont give up, if you really want to learn it, you will, just dont give up, and take it easy you are very young :)

  • @TheElie69 Have you been learning it with picture cards? You know, where you learn the Hiragana by associating it with a picture of something that it sounds like. Like remembering ら is the 'ra' sound because it looks like a rabbit with added detail. I learned all the Hiragana in a couple of weeks with study. Hiragana and Katakana are rather easy to learn if you study hard and use a learning method that is effective and works for you. It's the Kanji you have to worry about, haha! ;)

  • @TheElie69

only 17? lol. it's actually much easier to learn languages when you're younger. toddlers do it the best, but you're not too old now.

i'm 18 now (started studying seriously when i was 17), and i have all kana down, and a few kanji. you just have to keep at it, and always study in your spare time. make flashcards, write down the kana a lot, try making simple sentences. stuff like that. :)

  • Where I'm from, both Herpes are considered STD/STIs because the mouth version is caught usually through kissing or possibly through sharing drinks. Cold sore does refer to outbreaks on the mouth as well, but it's not something they have a cure to as of yet, which is probably why it has a stigma. I'm really sorry you caught it.

  • Very nice intonation!

  • I have it to lol. When I had normal tests done the doctor asked if I ever get cold sores. And told me I had herpese and I freaked. But some reaserch later. Everyone almost has it and its normal to get a cold sore like once a year or whatever lol. I guess I had a case that put me in the hospital as a child and havnt had any signs since but I think its funny if i tell someone that and they freak now lol. Because its no big deal unless its in the down under place than maybe ppl should run lol.

  • lol The first time I have a cold sore was inside my mouth and my sister said it was HERPES. Then I freak out... :(

  • in brazil we also call it Herpes. LoL.

but it was really interesting your story! xDDD

  • @dtrcoelho yeah, in Germany, too :-)

  • u r so cute,budiful and sexc.

  • Comment removed

  • yea cold sore is a relative of herpes. but the weaker version of herpes. and herpes is also related to chicken pox.

  • IIRC a good portion of the world population is infected with HSV-1. Now what you don't want to get is HSV-2.

  • thats a big “へぇぇぇぇぇえ????"!!! 引く~

  • I had Toxic Shock once, from a knee infection. Besides almost killing me, I had to explain to people that toxic shock syndrome is NOT an STD. I think some people believed me.

  • well, not japanese - english misunderstandings... but german - english misunderstandings xD

i heard the saying "cool story bro" and thought it was a compliment. well, i thought it meant the told story was cool... and said it to a friend. and she was very offended.

i was very, very embarassed XD

  • @Sandkastenrockerin01 :

In most settings, with normal people speaking sincerely, it would in fact be a compliment. Especially if you leave off the "bro", which is slang that people over age 30 would never use.

Among young people who read 4chan and such, it is a sarcastic, offensive, and dismissive reply that means that you think the storyteller tells lies, exaggerates, or is boring.

  • @Sandkastenrockerin01 "cool story bro" isn't English, it's Intrawebz

  • At the supermarket I didn't realize I didn't pay enough, so I said:

Gomenasai, watashi no tamago ga sukareta desu.

I meant to say atama instead of tamago.

  • In spanish both are called herpes too

  • I always use "OMG!I got herpes!" on facebook.then,my friend said "dont loud I got Herpes!".well "why?is herpes bad word?" I replied so.

I see...I understood why "dont say herpes" she said ^^; .thank you!xDD

  • hahaha !

  • You are fabulous. I lived in Japan for three years and loved it. There are so many stories to share. "The Panty Thief", "Are you FIVE FINGER Genki?", "My what a big nose she has" and many many more.

Keep up the great updates. Love the behind the scenes crack ups.

  • you are so good, i'm jelly x3 i really want to learn japanese, i've learnt a really small amount here and there on the internet, but i really wish to go to japan and learn it, i might go there for a month next summer x3 so i guess i should try and learn a bunch more b4 i go, and more when i get there.

  • ryuhei is your boyfriend right? :D

  • OHMYGOD!....... Your Japanese is AMAZING! Im so envious of you. I am currently studying it Japanese and talking on skype with friends in Japanese and going about other ways to improve it, but I am NOWHERE near as good as you. Im fascinated.

I will speak like that one day.

    xx

    Well done, you're amazing!

  • Calling the sores on the lip 'herpes' is very correct actually, because they are, like "down there", a herpetic strain, just of a different order. Either way, I'm sure it gave you quite a fright! xD

  • I had similar experience when living in Korea, they thought it was bugs from having pets! I was so ashamed, it was a big rash for 3 weeks but other foreigner also got it supposedly a common thing in Korea! Really like ur videos!

  • lmao

  • ahha

  • Lol

  • oh now wonder I was watching Inuyasha and Kagome's grandpa made an excuse for Kagome saying she has herpes... and I was like what?? LOL

  • In France we call a Cold Sore Herpes too :D And for the Herpes (Sexual) we call it ... Herpes too XD But adding Sexual at the end... Thank for sharing that information °-° ^w^

  • Cold sores are herpes, but alot of people have it

  • LOL!!I laughed at this video! I've not known about HERPES means until now.Thank u so much! P・S I don't have HERPES!lol

  • ... I think HAHAHAHHAHAHA! epic xD

  • Apparently you can transmit herpes towards various parts of the body from the mouth. My dad's eye got infected with herpes. My guess is that he had a cold sore, sneezed into his hands, and it bounced into his eye. So when the doctor explained it to me that my dad had herpes of the eye, I was all "wait, you can get an STD in your eye?" It took me a moment to understand how some diseases and infections can adjust to any part of the body

  • I HAVE HERPES TOO

  • I get cold sores a couple times a year, and I freaked out when I was told I had herpes. I pretty much had the same reaction >.< Now all my friends joke about me having herpes -.-

  • i understand everything xD

  • Hey, Jennifer, a song of peace over me. Thank you. Not different from each song No! ! Are you trying to kill me! ! Trouble thing, is a bank employee.

  • My friend Bailey asked our tour guide in Shanghai if there were bidets in China, and he was like "a WHA!?"

Then she said "it cleans your bum!", to which Pei replied "it cleans your bum!?"

It was absolutely hilarious to see his reaction.

  • Herpes labialis

  • at the gas station:

the man said, genkin desu ka?(cash?)

I said genki desu, anata wa?(I'm ok, how about you)

  • @TheGabishimizu HAHA very funny XD

  • No story to tell about cold sores or genital herpes but your story made me laugh. :)

  • It's actually logical to call it herpes because it actually is herpes, since both of the diseases are a type of the herpes simplex virus. In english though, it has become a general habit to disregard the fact to avoid these kinds of misunderstandings, though making them bigger between english speakers and people from countries where the call it with it's correct name.

  • @shiroironin1 couldn't have said it better myself. You sir, deserve a high five.

  • @shiroironin1 I agree. Herpes could be transmitted sexually or even just sharing food. I'd suggest you to take a blood test abroad to see what I mean. However, they say that in some case it's hard to detect the disease specially when you are in good shape.

  • you should make a japanese tutorial'how to speak japanese" if thats possible

  • thats funny, because in Germany they also call it herpes when its on the mouth

  • @shaw590 well yeah, so they do in almost every country...

  • herpes of mouth = blowjob

  • I live in iowa, Herpes here is like ugly blisters on the mouth, and on the ctotch, a cold sore is different in the way that it is random and passes in a few days, cold sore is kind of like a small, sore spot by the lip, and the small red spots are a much less serious form of herpes in the way that it spreads and then disappears in a matter of only a few days, the usual way you get it is kissing or sharing a drinking glass/straw bottle or whatever

  • Maybe you're Canadian, but in the USA, "herpes in your mouth" is still herpes. A cold sore is different. Though girls will SAY 'cold sore', so people don't think about how they got is sucking dirty cock.....

  • I love your sense of humor. You crack me up. We're going to hang out when I go to Japan.

  • Wow U Gotta be the cutest girl 2 speak japanese!!! <333333

  • @Seaniwas More like the cutest girl on crystal meth......

  • Your Japanese is very impressive, considering it's your 2nd language!

However I must point to you that you've used the wrong particle there.

    正しくは「ヘルペスに感染された!」ですね。

    それにしても日本語が上手!俺の場合は逆に母語が日本語なんで、英語習う方にかなり苦戦しています。(^^;

  • hahahahah awesome story!

  • wow that was a flippin' hilarious story LOL

  • in Mexico (or in spanish-speaking contries) we call it "a fire" or a "lip herpes"

  • I envy you....speak japanese so well =/

  • also your voice change a little bit.. when you talk japenese.. its funny.. u really look like a japenese

  • haha the end of the video made me laugh!! how long did you learn japanese?? its really good :)

  • omg this video made me laugh so hard XD

  • Most places in Europe associate herpes with lips too : P

  • @Orube We do? :P

  • @D3m190d Like I said, most places, yes. Portugal and Spain do, France does, Italy too (or was it Greece).

  • @Orube Ahh so mainly the middle-southern area. ''cause here in the Netherlands it's still associated with the other version. :P

  • @D3m190d That's why I said MOST and not all ; >

And apparently Germany also associates herpes with lips.

  • Omg that must have been very stressing to experience O.O

  • Well that's funny!!

In Germany having herpes means that you have herpes on your lip (herpes labialis) aand only on your lip!!

If you really wanna mention that you actually caught a STDs you really need to point it out specificly and name the typ of the dease, otherwise everyone thinks that you just have herpes on the lip and thats not a big deal XD

yaaay.. anyway interessting to see though...

    Big greez from Germany!! XD

  • Really enjoy watching your vblogs, by the way you look the best in this one. keep up the good work!

  • pretty sure transmission through oral sex instead of kissing.

  • Haha funny. I now know. "Now You Know!" if you remember Bill Nye the Science guy xD

  • great vids!! wish i could speak japanese as well as u

  • @RunEmUpTapster that's kind of funny. shut up

  • Man, I just started watching your videos. I like every one so far. I have always been very interested in the Asian cultures, and I am so jealous of how well you speak Japanese! haha, What is it like to live there? Ahh, maybe I should get my shit together too, we could totally be cool neighbors or something! You could teach me all the must know things! lol, only teasing of course. Thanks for the awesome videos.

  • Hilarious!!! I can't stop laughing for the watching video. I'm a Japanese man and I think so.

  • LMAO I too recently found out that cold sores are a type of herpes. Its funny how over there they just call it herpes like its nothing. That is the beauty of different cultures.

  • Thanks for the useful and interesting information. I keep that in mind.

  • i think this is interesting because i thought here in America people used cold sore and herpes interchangeably, because that is what my friends and I did in middle school and high school; but i see how that could be confusing!

  • Actually, I didn't know that Herpes is something different in English xD

Because it is the same word in German for the red point on lips

    very funny...

  • I am tired of reading the subs, but enjoy hearing you speak Japanese aswell xD

  • Very useful information. ^^

  • wwwwwwwwwwww

thats really funny :D:D:D as a english person myself, its hilarious!

  • Oh I've been in a situation like that, but not medical.people always told me that I looked like someone famous.one day I went on vacation to Hollywood and girls chased me everywhere 247!

  • lol the same thing happened to me in america i always said i have a cold sore then my science teacher said o you mean herpes and i was like WHAT?! Then she explained and after some research (had to read it for myself) i was so relieved.

  • Herpes comes in many forms. Coldsores are still herpes! I got cold sores in freshman year of high school on winter break in New York (Not use to the weather. I am from Cali). I went to the doctor because it went under my eye (it look like cauliflower under my eye) @.@ andddd read the brochures in the office. Then I found out it was technically called Herpes Simplex type 1 or 2 (I forget).

When I went back to school people ask my what that thing under my eye was. I said it was herpes! Memories.

  • good learning for me! Thanks!

  • That sucks all the kids that I grew up around knew that cold sores was a form of herpes.

  • haha Ciaela your so funny : )

  • omgosh,you are really adorable ^^

  • So you caught oral herpes (probably a subtype of HSV-1) off Ryuhei. Nice of him to give you a heads up there.

  • THERE ARE TWO KINDS OF HERPES. ONE THAT EMERGES ON ONE'S MOUTH, ANOTHER THAT COMES OUT ON ONE'S GENITAL. BOTH OF THEM ARE INFECTED VIA VIRUS, AND GOES ALONG WITH ONE'S ENTIRE LIFE COMING OUT EVERY NOW AND THEN WHEN IMMUNE SYSTEM GETS WEAK. BUT BOTH HERPES AS LONG AS I KNOW ARE SEXUAL DISEASES TRANSMITTABLE TO ONE ANOTHER VERY EASILY.
