  • Bring me down the rains of heaven here

Bring me down the rains of heaven on my life

Bring me down. The comeback is so wonderful

  • aaaah and the second album never came out...such a tragedy. They do have an official web site these days and i bought some music a few years ago from it.

  • I want this song for my funeral. Boy, this will definitely a good song to sing when I cross that bridge to paradise...

  • Brilliant

  • I am happy to confirm that CACTUS WORLD NEWS have reunited and are special guests of Simple Minds @ INEC - Gleneagle Hotel, Kilarney, Co. Kerry on Saturday 30 July. On-line tickets available @ ticketmaster.co.uk

    More news soon!

    Pete

  • i know frank guitarist with the fender he owns a rockschool now i go there

  • The 80's saw so many brilliant Irish bands emerge. The problem was that the record companies wanted 'The Next U2',and the bands were dropped if they didn't sound like them.

  • its SPRINGTIDE, (not springtime...) will take me across...

  • The singer looks like a priest, should of had guitarist on vocals!

  • oh yeah you are correct,i forgot about that.

  • its the glasses....thats what ruined them well apart from the fact that they only had 1 decent song..and yes 1 decent song and am i living proof of this yes i am cause i was at self aid and to be honest they vanished after that.

  • @fiatargento Huge image problem. Years Apart was a tune too mate!

  • @fiatargento I know it was the 80's and all that, but there was no excuse for looking like Timmy Mallett's little brother.

  • Most dodgy mullet ever!!!!!!!!!!

I thought these guys would be huge.

  • takes me home

  • another fave of mine... aside from worlds apart.... great band!!!!

  • love cwn! i used to play my bass along to their songs back in the 80s.

  • I know frank, he's like god!!

  • one og my fav,,,mabuhay new waver's

  • I never knew Timmy Mallet was the frontman with this band.

  • "When I give up you always go on."

You know who he's talking about.

  • no, tell me!

  • this band was real and raw. The way early U2 was. They had that X factor that is so rare.

I think who he is talking about is the Alpha and the Omega. Jesus Christ! That even if he does fail, the truth goes on and always will remain.

  • Bit random : but does anyone know where to find "Going to Nepal" (i think) by Blink (the Irish band). Had it on cassette years ago and impossible to find online cos' of Blink 182.

  • these guys were fab in henrys in cork

  • new wave 4ever! d nyo kayang laosin to man!

  • yeah dude hnd tlaga man....

  • i was at this concert too and still have their album on vynyl

  • Anybody know the model number of that Ibanez acoustic-electric? It's one of those solid types, like a Chet. I remember seeing 2 in a store back then, one black and another sunburst. They were gone by the time I had the money. Can't seem to find any info on them.

  • @theguitaryears Aha! I finally found out the guitar Eoin's using. It's an Ibanez AE-410BK,. Funny though, all the information online only shows ones in black, when I clearly remember there being one in suburst and one in black at the store.

  • I was at this concert with me ivory tusk ear rings and full of cider.

    great concert

  • all time favorite.... another NU107 pioneer!

  • saw CWN years ago - top notch

  • anyone remember a song with the lyrics "I caught myself on the rebound, thinking about you just the other day" Thought it was C.W.N but can't seem to find it? Was in and around that time. Cheers :.)

  • Frank Kearns didnt get to the interview for the U2 job. Think a family member had died that day. He went to Mount Temple on the Malahide Road (same school as U2) and lived down the road from me.

I actually have a few 12 inch versions from the band themselves..... great song.

  • Yeah the link is : Go to Itunes and place your order. Its simple just like you go to the local Pub..place your order,PAY FOR IT,then receive your drink.

  • Comment removed

  • do you a link for an mp3 of this, ive looking for this song for a long time now.

  • I thought that concert was 1987. I remember it threatened to rain all day but never did, lucky..

  • Played some great gigs at the Boxing Club in Drogheda, great band.

  • WoW! He sure did hit those high notes pretty well...

  • What a fantastic band they were!!! I remember some amazing gigs....

  • I can't believe i didn't know CWN back in the 80's.

Now i had the extended mix of this song and i can't stop playing it.

  • hey rockergav666 i no u haha the guitarist teaches me guitar

  • i know the guitarist

  • i wish i was here...just great! i wasnt able to grab a copy of their album when this was released...i was still in grade shool..

hoping anybody can give me the lyrics and chords of this song

    long live

  • im within walking distance of your heart,

im within earshot to a fresher start,

i get the feeling that somebody else is thinking about me,im this close i can touch it with my hand.*coming up and over, over the bridge, springtime will lift me take me across.repeat*so im looking down and i should be collapsing, the earth underneath the ground has long since open up,youve seen me fallin, youve seen me die in my own way, when i give up,you always go on,repeat*

  • break it down on the wings of heaven,(heaven)break it down on the wings of my life, break it down, the comeback is so wonderful..lalalalalla

i will cross to the other side

  • @onemourningangel its springtide, not springtime... lols

  • sepra sad ni sa chosen few. kuha kaayu ni ni spy he he.

  • Despite what has been said by some posters, I rate CWN as one of the most under rated bands that never made it, like Cry before Dawn. And when you look at the crap that did make it through, you wonder HOW THE HELL DID THAT HAPPEN !

  • Thanks this is amazing!

Just saw myself and my pal in the crowd we were there off our heads right up the front that day!

  • Frank opened up an awesome recording studio and rock school in Dublin. I go there myself and he has though me everything i know about guitar He is just amazing and so what if they didnt make it they were an amazing band oh to the person who said connections to U2 were bad they knew U2 from school Frank played with the edge and Bono for a while aswell so fuck off anyone who diss' them their amazing!
  • I'm not allowed comment off this account but it's acceptible this once! The guitarist of this band is a fucking amazing guy, he opened an amazing rockschool and recording studio in dublin so FUCK YOU HATERS!

    At least he got somewhere!!

  • shite band. shite era. typical of dublin provincialism. always trying to impress London... band had no basis or roots in anything. the cracked looking glass of a servant/a jester in the court syndrome to use a James Joyce analogy

  • Who was the bass player? I think they had a few!

  • Fantastic! thanx for posting this great vid. These guys were WAY ahead of their time - what an awesome guitar sound man!! saw on Billboard they sold over quarter of a million CDs in States ..well count another one here buddies Im buying mine on Itunes now ..Awesome stuff.

  • Hi, labyrinth5150. Nagkasabay na tayo nong '90s sa Dredd and Mayric's. Hello to you. Tumutugttog pa kayo? aLfie here, of Half Life Half Death.

  • hi alfie! we might do a sort of "reunion" gig anytime this march sa dredd. consisting of CWN, the alarm covers and original songs.kapag natuloy, ill post videos here and i'll inform you. nice to hear from you, bro.

  • hi bimosec. pinoy din ako and huge CWN fan. we used to play the band's songs during our gigs in club dredd and mayrics sets. our band's name is ampalaya juice. what's your band's name nga pala.great video by the way.

  • Utter tripe! They represent everything that was dreadful about late 80's Dublin bands. Pretentious image, pseudo intellectual lyrics, "we're U2's pals" connections and most importantly, their 'songs' were appallingly bad. That's why they never 'made it'.

  • Great to see this. They were an amazing band; Eoin was a poet and Frank was such a great guitar player- what a beautiful sound he made!

  • bimosec, enge din ako lyrics neto, puleez???

  • Thanks men for the video of (The Bridge)CWN! It looks like we've back to the new wave days.

  • i remember at the time people were saying that aslan should've been signed by U2's label instead of cactus world news, well this song kicks the arse of anything that shitty little pub band did.

  • I used to sign on on the same day with the specky ponce - said good morning to him and he looked through me. I wondered what they were like - now I know - vile

  • a very big thanks to you bimosec for the lyrics.....

  • I've always been a huge fan of CWN. We used to play some of their songs at our gigs.

  • bro phil. ka rin pala, thanks nga pala sa lyrics, manila base ka ba?

  • Pinoy din ako, pare - Manila-based. Nag-banda din ng konti noong 80's kaya natutong maghalungkat ng lyrics from lyric sheets, write ups, album sleeves, at - minsan - ouido (tenga-tenga) lang.

  • can someone gve the lyrics here.....please response all wavers.....

  • Amazing to see this again ..from Boston
