Barbara Cook is amazing! If anyone reading this posting can bring attention to the Kennedy Center Honors committee, PLEASE give her Honors in 2010! She is an American legend!
I was so fortunate to be there that night. Barbara was sick, but to sound like she does when ill... She's better than anyone else in the world period. And she's a sweet, beautiful person off-stage, as well. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE her!!!!!!!!!!
Barbara Cook is simply the finest exponent of the voice I have ever seen live. Every time I have seen her on stage I am stunned by the quality and control of the performance. Songs are brought to life when she sings. Barbara is without a doubt the finest Broadway Star EVER.
what a shame this is not available on dvd...it's one of those performances that deserves a high place in the archives...many thanks to all who brought it to youtube.
I was very fortunate to have been in the audience that night, and though Ms. Cook was not in the best of health that night, this was by far one of the most amazing feats of voice I have ever seen.
Rebecca Luker can wipe them both off the floor.

Beautiful, but...this song really needs an orchestra instead of a piano.

This is one of my favorite songs ever! And what a joy to hear it sung by the best voices of our time!
This performance was stunning! It brought me to tears. I am amazed that music like this exists.

She and Placido Domingo both sold their souls to the Devil:-). If I could sing like them, so would I.

I met Ms. Cook at the opera cafe..she is one of our great treasures, a lady, an artist and a great human being.
Brava for reminding us how wonderful the art of the musical theatre can be.
