  • @TylersArtShack I see you often using oil pastels, so are they really worth it? I have always wanted to do something in color, but I never really dwelled in color...

  • ive watched several art videos, but i found that this video took it slow enough that a person could follow along with it while doing the work.at the same time. i bought the kids portfolio brand oil pastels(water soluble>new) and they blend well. the length of this video was also a plus. it was a whole lesson in itself.. thanks tyler

  • @xxbigkisses Thanks for the feedback! I plan to make more lengthy videos like this in the future. They prove to be quite popular and helpful to people. If you enjoy using oil pastels, just wait until you get some higher end ones. They are much more fun to use and the quality is so much better as well.

  • i got faber castell oil pastel. it wont blend! that shit's a ripped off == ooh the life of poor high school student

  • @aigoo13579 I didn't even know faber castell made them. I just looked up the prices of them and I can tell they are crap just from that lol. I use very high quality oil pastels. They cost about 3 dollars each! You get what you pay for though :)

  • hey i would like to give u a tip about ur blending stump. u can get little pieces of sand paper and sand down the tip and it will last u MUCH longer.

  • Very good !

  • can i ask a question???can you do that in an ordinary paper??

  • Cool!i can apply this to my contest!

  • ps. what is that blending stump?

  • I really enjoy your techniques, I recently was lucky enough to get a couple packs of oil pastels as a gift so now I have something new to try. I'm also a big fan of mountains so even better. Also, thanks for telling me that black paper is better to use than white for this project, I was already pulling out some blank white paper so phew, ... hopefully black construction works cause I don't have much supplies. I'm gonna try blending with a paper towel for practice too, I normally use my finger...

  • hello, im a young artist and i love pastels! (hard, soft, and oil) do you know what OIL pastels are best for an intermediate artist? i have a limited budget (30 dollars or so) and i want to start expanding my collection starting with more of the drawing hands-on art and moving on the the painting and sculpting in time. and suggestions? Please reply im eager to make art :)

  • @badbad123wee . Hi! I've been a pastels artist for many years now. I'd like to help you with this. Sennelier are the best pastels in the market. They are a bit battered but you can also try Caran D'Ache Neopastels, Cray-Pas Specialist or Holbein. Try the artists quality for better results. Oil pastels are not easy and you will avoid a lot of headaches. What I'm doing is -as you do with dry soft pastels - I use first the harder and in the final steps I use the softer- Sennelier-.So, good luck.

  • Ups, I just read the rest of the information. I had a look at the channel.

  • Yes, I love the paintings of Bob Ross and the way he was painting, too.

Just by the way he was talking, you could tell, that he was a nice person.

Thank's very much for this video and sharing your knowledge!

(Nice music in the background, too. -What is it?)

  • That is a very helpful video. thank you. I also am a fan of Bob Ross but I don't have the room for oil painting but I like the idea of using your technique to produce the kind of mountains he does. Could you use watercolors to create a black background for your mountains? Would this allow the oil pastels to break as you used them giving the coarseness like real rock?

Could you do a series on doing lakes and shore lines?

  • @donectas I honestly do not know if using water color will work or not. I have never tried it. I dont see why it would not work. And yes, I can do tutorials on lakes and shore lines. I do not know when I will be able to get around to it but that is something I have been wanting to do.

  • Hey, a really good tip for cleaning your blending sticks is sliding them across a piece of fine sandpaper.. Just remember to check for sand on the sticks afterwards, so you don't mess up your drawing when blending.. :)

    BTW, love your videos! :)

  • so so beautiful!!!!! I just starting using oil pastels and LOVE them... and now i can get better from ur video's and tips .. THANXXX

  • nice tutorial ^^

and i'd like to mention that there is nothing linked to your "click here to subscribe"-button in the video ^^

  • @Champo0 Thank you for pointing that out!!! I just fixed it

  • Wow what a cool idea I would never thought of using black paper. I always learn something watching your videos great work.

  • @henrycems Black paper is awesome to use. I am going to be using it quite a bit now I think. I love the look that it gives the drawings.

  • See instead of buying a new blending stick why don't you just sharpen it

  • @b41ny1 I plan on doing that lol

  • Thanks for the inspiration!

  • Wow, you really deserve alot more views..

  • @Knutbsh My channel is still very young. In time it will grow.

  • Nice Tutorial!

  • Really cool :D
