What a dumb gimmick. Most people just don't want to admit they need to become a better athlete to improve their swing. You need to start doing the right stretching, right strength work, record your swing, and make corrections. Not some, "Come a little closer, and let me show you something. It is all in the pinky. When you position the pinky as such, you unlike wild animal, genius, infinite internal, sexy energy into the ball."
I have thought about the pinky before, but no way could I have come up with a marketing tag line like that. Can I have my people contact your people?
(Seriously, you're mostly right, of course. Although I don't think it's impossible that at least a few of these "swing aids" might actually benefit some people, it does strike me as significant that not one #1 player in history ever really used one to reach that level, or even tour level.)
@emncaity I knew a guy who played on the Nike tour, and he told me when you go to a good instructor they will put you through flexibility test to makes sure you can hit the positions they prefer to teach. It is like gymnastics, if you don't have the required strength or flexibility, the positions just won't happen.
MIKE AUSTIN IS GREAT TEACHES IN THE WORLD OF GOLF AND DAN SHAUGER LEARN FROM THE BEST AUSTIN. I HAD SEVERAL LESSON FROM DAN AND NOW HIT MY GOLF BALL STRAIGHT DOWN LINE NOW AND HE HELP WITH MY PUTTING TO , DAN HAS 2 BOOK AND 27 DVD THANK TO DAN I PLAY BETTER AROUND OF GOLF NOW THANK AGAIN DAN
@jmunnikhuis - that's the rinky-dink Studio City driving range + 9 hole pitch & putt golf course. He's standing on their also tiny putting green outside front door entrance, behind him is the path to front door.
@dogsarefun2 - Hey numbnuts, there was a serious 40mph+ desert wind behind his back during the shot. E-v-e-r-y-o-n-e hit it long in his group - Mike just happened to catch a gale force gust of wind & with his length the rest is edited history. The dude was just tall & had a good swing.
for all you numb nuts. This guy has the longest recorded drive in PGA tournament history, 515 yds when he 64 years old playing on senior tour. He did it with persimmon driver and old ball, not the long flying high tech clubs and balls that go forever nowadays. Just read a book about him. Guy was the longest straightest driver on tour. Other pga pro wussies would pay pairings guy NOT TO BE PAIRED WITH HIM. You hackers should read about some of his swing theories.

nice passive aggressive middle finger to the audience as he points to the phallus attached to his chest at 0.08. I think there are some sociopathic tendencies leaking thru here...
This does everything, get this and you are scratch and win the open within 7 hours. You also get blondes dropping at your feet, money, a new car and spiritual enlightenment (whatever the hell that is, but sounds funny). This product is brilliant, honest.
For a long time instructors taught students to have the feeling you were “sitting” on a bar stool. I always believed we should have been teaching people to feel as though you were “leaning” back on a stool. The last thing you would ever want to do is sit in golf. Sitting will cause the golf club to swing too level to the ground in the downswing, and you will have a tendency to hit the ground behind the golf ball. w w w (dot) golferbreak80 (dot) c0m
Where did you get this video? I've got the mike austin secrets dvd and i'm hungry for more footage? this is a great clip if you're an Austin fan, can't stop watching it...well done.

And in case anyone is wondering where this footage came from, it originally came at the end of his instructional video "Golf Is Mental Imagery."

how the hell did he come up with that name - FLAMMER! he was some character - wonder if anyone has written a biography of his life
markoconroy 2 years ago
First of all, they have written a biography on him. Its called "In Search for the Greatest Golf Swing" by Reed.
Second, I asked him where he got the name "flammer" and he told me its from a Greek root word which meant "to develop."

Thanks, will have to get that book....

It's actually the front of the clubhouse at the Studio City Golf Range and par 3 outside of Los Angeles.
If you look closely at the building it says 4141. That's 4141 Whitsett Avenue. Mike Austin gave lessons there for years!! mentoredbythelegend
