The Jenkins Fine Arts Building here at East Carolina has the hydraulic version of this, complete with the relays. :)

Southern controllers from around 1970 are interesting. They will light up hall calls on the cab's floor buttons. They also have awesome relays.

Why is the "IN case of fire" taped on? Did that sign originally say "Do not use elevators"?

Looks alot like the ones they have at Debora Hospital in Browns Mills, New Jersey. The same sort of rounded cab roof and lighting fixtures, although I think theirs were installed back around 1945.
