That amps overdrive is much better than that pedalboards, its like breeding a mutt with a pedigree. watch your own video it sounds horrible i have a mark III and a Mark V i know what i am talking about,
not to bad i would recommend going threw the the pedals system target and running it in like input 2x12 it will give you more presence and sound very amp like other than that man you got a mean tone
For what it's worth, I don't know if this guy puts much thought into the amps that he uses. Not to bash or anything, but he's pretty much experienced or knows enough about anything that has to do with the instrumental part or a guitar rig. Plus the guitars he has are of top quality. But when it comes to the tonal aspect, it's sort of weak. Tone is in the beholder, and it's completely opinionated, but he can certainly afford the top of the line amps, I think he just refrains from it.
So you took a Mark 1(!!!) and a Digitech (wtf!) to play metal (LOL). Also why not buy a Mclaren engine and put it in a coffee machine? Good playing dude but seriously....WTF!
great video and great playing. Interesting how the carvin kept up with the other guitars, the c22 pickups are from the 70s or 80s, aren't they? I liked the tone of the Jackson v the best, I have 2 neck thru Soloist SL1s myself. My friend thinks his old 80s roadster is possessed by the devil.Lol. Great sounding custom distortion. Is this the best distortion the gnx4 can produce? I'm looking at a gnx4 pretty new with an ev mic for just $200. Don't ever sell the Mark1, haha. please make more.
Why would anyone think you could tell what an amp sounds like with a preamp multi-effects processor in front of it? Then add some active pickups, which are themselves preamps....not helpful but thanks anyway.
Dude, you need to do something about the sound quality of your videos. Only the Jackson sounded a bit different, the rest sounded the same. I'm running my tower through my SS system so I don't think it is on my end.
@Geetarfrik I know EXACTLY what you mean. Pretty much every onboard amp distortions sounds like shit. I put a Boss HM-2 (all controls except volume maxed) in front of a dual rec to get a real vintage sound. Bands such as Dismember, Entombed, Carnage, and Grave will give you a good sample of what it sounds like.
yeah the HM2 is pretty much the standard for old school style extreme distortion. Im partial to the Digitech Grunge into a tube marshall though. sounds kinda like a more fluid Diezel VH4.
yes and i think its because the digital effects pedals "model" sounds and use most of the processing to get the tone rather than letting distinct characteristics of the woods and pickups stand out as much as they would if u were using say an analog pedal or tube amp. i could be wrong though :-\
Congratulations, you made a classic, amazing amp sound like shit. How can you use digitech crap with a Boogie Mark 1?! It's madness! That amp needs to be turned up ungodly loud for it to sound good. And your playing, do you think you could possibly play something that's actually nice to listen to other than soulless downtuned powerchords??
Amp tone is subjective to opinion, and treating yours as fact makes you like like that more of a moron. I think it sounds great. And until you post a video, you might as well be as bad at guitar as a rabies-infected horse.
congratulations xtasy2k7, u made a complete douche out of yourself, his playing is brilliant and he shreds like a god. plus hes got a great tone in this video and this is great 2 listen to.
hmm none of the tones where that amazin, but i liked the bc rich one most. emgs and tube amps go hand in hand fuk anyone who disagrees (as much as i love the jackson ithe KV2 sounded pretty pussy with the seymores), and the LTD vs bc rich thing with the emgs, theres the proof that string guages makes a HUGE difforence, ernie ball 11's ftw x
Pointless test. You can plug any guitar in to that amp and get a similar distorted sound. Distortion is just one part of tone. Anyone that wants to play anything else apart from metal wont get a true idea of the amp. That digitech thing made an awesome amp sound shite.
i disagree i use a digitech the weapon with emgs and it sounds like it crawled from the pits of hell and threw up on my distortion.(yes thts a good thing)
EMG: good pickups w/ digital equipment (Digitech , non - tube amps like Line 6.
EMG: Horrible pickups w/ analog equipment like real amps (tube amps).
and like toxikfan saids a good tube amp does not need a multiefects prosesor if you want great sound use analog equipment or Digital equipment only do not mix them because sound like SHIT.
ok tht i do agree with BUT other non digital stompboxes like the box of metal are great for tube amps. i think they're called boutique or somtin like tht.
Yes is correct but they are not Distortion pedals like metal zone os something like that they are mostly Overdrive pedals and work most like boost ups more than a distortion pedals..
as the matter of fact you can put the EMG is tubes and meka a decent sound like Zakk Wylde.
But you need million dollar equipment like him to make it sound like that you have to do millions of combinations and have a lot of knowlede in mixed circuits.
or do like David Gilmour have EMG's whit many Digital Heads and meke your strat (or any guitar) sound like you want they souns.
oh my fucking god, dude, don't play on your processor's distortion and emg's, they both make your playing easier while on your tube amp's drive it will be much harder, it's an obvious truth
no i said he should have gotten an amp with a better distortion on it i don't see why anyone would pick up an expensive amp and use a crappy digitech distortion or maybe thats just the camera hes using but the tone sounds thin and dull.
