  • That amps overdrive is much better than that pedalboards, its like breeding a mutt with a pedigree. watch your own video it sounds horrible i have a mark III and a Mark V i know what i am talking about,

  • when i was a kid i thought mesa and boogie were two different companies and mesa made the heads and boogie made the speaker

  • I have a dual rec roadster absolutely in love with I can play everything from aerosmith to zz top

  • I know its like this guys got a rig that cost as much as a humvee and dude is talking shit

  • i like the digitech personally but i will admit it sounds like its in studio direct mode

  • not to bad i would recommend going threw the the pedals system target and running it in like input 2x12 it will give you more presence and sound very amp like other than that man you got a mean tone

  • For what it's worth, I don't know if this guy puts much thought into the amps that he uses. Not to bash or anything, but he's pretty much experienced or knows enough about anything that has to do with the instrumental part or a guitar rig. Plus the guitars he has are of top quality. But when it comes to the tonal aspect, it's sort of weak. Tone is in the beholder, and it's completely opinionated, but he can certainly afford the top of the line amps, I think he just refrains from it.

  • So you took a Mark 1(!!!) and a Digitech (wtf!) to play metal (LOL). Also why not buy a Mclaren engine and put it in a coffee machine? Good playing dude but seriously....WTF!

  • Are you running on half or full power?

  • Are you running on 50 or 100 watts?

  • \m/

  • I love my Mark 1 though I mostly play rock, jazz or funk on it. The 2x12 cab sounds kick ass!

  • @fuse511 And the funny thing is no one tries to play these amps in those styles.. ALWAYS heavy crap. What a waste..

  • sounds really nasally, might just be the camera though

  • sounds just awful, way too harsh.

  • dude what were yer pedal and amp settings? you got a realy fucking amazing tone there !

  • I have a questiong .. The BC Rich wartribe come with EMG 81 & 85 pickups and Kahler Hybrid tremolo that's not an upgrade !?

Thank you for your awnser I will buy A BR Rich wartribe when I sell my old guitar :)

  • what do you have your digiteck gnx4 set to?

  • The sound is really nice, its just too muffled to my ears.

  • never liked Ibanez guitars, but that one really pulled it out O.o

  • @Can0r ESP*

  • You know, i wasnt even watching the video and i could tell which one was the warlock. just evil sounding man!

  • My god... They all sound the fucking same!

  • like ur tone man the tubes really warm up that digitech man awesome

  • great video and great playing. Interesting how the carvin kept up with the other guitars, the c22 pickups are from the 70s or 80s, aren't they? I liked the tone of the Jackson v the best, I have 2 neck thru Soloist SL1s myself. My friend thinks his old 80s roadster is possessed by the devil.Lol. Great sounding custom distortion. Is this the best distortion the gnx4 can produce? I'm looking at a gnx4 pretty new with an ev mic for just $200. Don't ever sell the Mark1, haha. please make more.

  • im thinking of getting a gnx4 , is it good¿?

  • Is that a vintage MK I or one of the reissues?

  • Awesome guitarist...

  • Mark I is a killer amp. It has a much more natural distortion and harmonics than digital processor. You should use it's potential better.

  • The Mesa Boogie makes that horrid multi-fx unit sound OK.

  • Why would anyone think you could tell what an amp sounds like with a preamp multi-effects processor in front of it? Then add some active pickups, which are themselves preamps....not helpful but thanks anyway.

  • Dude, you need to do something about the sound quality of your videos. Only the Jackson sounded a bit different, the rest sounded the same. I'm running my tower through my SS system so I don't think it is on my end.

  • the pedelboard ruins the amps sund^^

  • that carvin looks unconfortable

  • I love the way the wartribe keeps popping up in a lot of your video's ^^ im a bc rich fan myself :P

  • your video series are awesome :) you should begin a TV show!!!

  • sexy as fucked madonna

  • sounds like a pretty good scooped sound

  • nice Lamb of God with the ibanez was awesome

  • Why did you get a Mesa Boogie MArk I instead of a single/double/triple rec? Would getting the rectifiers be overkill since you have a Digitech GNX4?

  • @DaveDoggOwns

the rec series is too 'squishy' sounding. I cant get decent palm mutes out of them and thhey kill the bass player.

  • @Geetarfrik I know EXACTLY what you mean. Pretty much every onboard amp distortions sounds like shit. I put a Boss HM-2 (all controls except volume maxed) in front of a dual rec to get a real vintage sound. Bands such as Dismember, Entombed, Carnage, and Grave will give you a good sample of what it sounds like.

  • @DaveDoggOwns

yeah the HM2 is pretty much the standard for old school style extreme distortion. Im partial to the Digitech Grunge into a tube marshall though. sounds kinda like a more fluid Diezel VH4.

  • that tone is awful.

  • thats just the mic hes using. its not so high quality.

  • dont the guitars sound a little bit the same with the digital effects ?

btw your album is great !

  • They still sound petty distinct to me.Though if you over do it with effects they will colour the sound pretty heavily.

  • yes and i think its because the digital effects pedals "model" sounds and use most of the processing to get the tone rather than letting distinct characteristics of the woods and pickups stand out as much as they would if u were using say an analog pedal or tube amp. i could be wrong though :-\

  • fuck off, when did you become the master of deciding whats god and not

  • i agree with dmometal guitar

    totally

  • Agreed.

  • I love it when kids, who never posted videos, start criticizing guitar veterans.

  • Wow xtasy2k7, you're a real douche.

  • Dear dumbass,

Amp tone is subjective to opinion, and treating yours as fact makes you like like that more of a moron. I think it sounds great. And until you post a video, you might as well be as bad at guitar as a rabies-infected horse.

  • congratulations xtasy2k7, u made a complete douche out of yourself, his playing is brilliant and he shreds like a god. plus hes got a great tone in this video and this is great 2 listen to.

  • i am getting a guitar by a brand called dark night , with a licensed flyd rose , do you think i should get an original for it ????

  • yeah you probably should, but test it out for a while, sometimes people get some that are made very well

  • haha lol

If you could have jeff and kerry round your place to jam because you got there signature guitars rofl

  • i can't bellieve the jackson costs so much it sounds just as good as the wartribe

  • i love the tone that your m-II gets out of that

  • I hope that is your rig :D

beats a line 6 combo amp anyday :P

  • Haha, my dad's 10 watt CRATE amp beats my old 15 watt Line 6 by a long shot. (I now have a Raven RG20)

  • sounds like a ham sandwich, sorry i love your videos, but lifeless tone. it's the camera maybe?

  • hmm none of the tones where that amazin, but i liked the bc rich one most. emgs and tube amps go hand in hand fuk anyone who disagrees (as much as i love the jackson ithe KV2 sounded pretty pussy with the seymores), and the LTD vs bc rich thing with the emgs, theres the proof that string guages makes a HUGE difforence, ernie ball 11's ftw x

  • do you mean pussy in a good or bad way lol?

  • bad way, it sounded weak and thin,

and also i meant to say *my jackson not the jackson, ofcourse mine has guage 11's and an an emg 81 :) X

  • whatever he was playing on that ibanez was the shit.

  • Turn the treble down and the mids down and bass up = amazing tone from that amp.

  • that would just sound like thumping.

depending on how high the volume, is dictates how much bass is actually needed. at least that was what i was taught.

  • Comment removed

  • Didn't like the tone.

  • the digitech sounds crappy

  • nice legs, do u wax 'em ? lol

  • Lulz xDDD

  • that sounded really gay...

  • wow he went out and got himself a high end amp rather than that little piece of crap line 6

  • That song in the beginning gets EXTREMLY annoying

  • I haven't used 9 gauge strings in so long. I have been using 11-50's for a while.

  • hey man, what happend to all of your medleys?? u should re-post them, they were awesome

  • Nice review I liked your tone lol

  • gear dmos are the best

  • dude i love ur videos but please dont wear such small shorts next time....lol

  • you just made the video gay lol

  • Dude you should have got a ii, mk, iii, iv, or v then youd have a great dstortion tone without the digitech

  • Pointless test. You can plug any guitar in to that amp and get a similar distorted sound. Distortion is just one part of tone. Anyone that wants to play anything else apart from metal wont get a true idea of the amp. That digitech thing made an awesome amp sound shite.

  • i disagree i use a digitech the weapon with emgs and it sounds like it crawled from the pits of hell and threw up on my distortion.(yes thts a good thing)

  • I'm compllet agree the why is simple:

EMG: good pickups w/ digital equipment (Digitech , non - tube amps like Line 6.

EMG: Horrible pickups w/ analog equipment like real amps (tube amps).

and like toxikfan saids a good tube amp does not need a multiefects prosesor if you want great sound use analog equipment or Digital equipment only do not mix them because sound like SHIT.

  • ok tht i do agree with BUT other non digital stompboxes like the box of metal are great for tube amps. i think they're called boutique or somtin like tht.

  • Yes is correct but they are not Distortion pedals like metal zone os something like that they are mostly Overdrive pedals and work most like boost ups more than a distortion pedals..

  • Err, I think you have it backwards. EMGs are only good with tube amps, through SS amps they sound like angry bees.

They're all around mediocre like most active pickups, in my opinion anyways.

  • as the matter of fact you can put the EMG is tubes and meka a decent sound like Zakk Wylde.

But you need million dollar equipment like him to make it sound like that you have to do millions of combinations and have a lot of knowlede in mixed circuits.

or do like David Gilmour have EMG's whit many Digital Heads and meke your strat (or any guitar) sound like you want they souns.

  • Dude do you know how many bands use EMG's through their tube amps?

  • Dude do you know how much spend in digital equipment to sound like that not to mention they record w/digitals.

  • oh my fucking god, dude, don't play on your processor's distortion and emg's, they both make your playing easier while on your tube amp's drive it will be much harder, it's an obvious truth

  • i hate using 9 gauge on a floyd guitar

i get weak harmonics on they pop easily

  • I liked BC Rich's riff :D

  • That B.C. Rich sounded evil.

  • i think the road star ibanez had the best tone and the jackson.

  • I have a mesa dual rec, couldnt be happier with it

  • I have a Mark IV and I couldn't be happier with it.

  • a friend of mine has a messa boogie spent a fortune on it

  • scan you share some metal presets on gnx4??

  • no i said he should have gotten an amp with a better distortion on it i don't see why anyone would pick up an expensive amp and use a crappy digitech distortion or maybe thats just the camera hes using but the tone sounds thin and dull.

  • the king v and the ltd are gettin the best tone outta that amp in my opinion.

  • C# and Drop C sounds great!!!!!!

  • Finally got a REAL amp, congrats!

  • oh man the kv2 sound and look so wicked.. i wish i could afford one.

  • the carvin is so ugly, but sounds awesome

  • Id really like one of thoose new mesa boogie halfstacks, man theyre cool..

  • You should have gotten a Mark IV or V, it would be better suited for heavier music.

  • In order to do a proper test of the Mark I and Digitech GNX4, he should have used a Mark IV or V?

  • This one sounds more old-school, don't you think?
