There are actually quite a large number of Singaporean drivers out there who are very inconsiderate. I have encountered this problem many times already especially at Siglap area.

Nobody who drives here will be surprised by this. The number one priority on the road is always "what's most convenient for me" - and fuck everybody else.. Why should I use my signals, why should I let a pedestrian cross, why shouldn't I block traffic, or park in the disabled spot, or try to knock the motorcyclist out of the way, or tailgate at 120kmh, or send an SMS while I'm driving? I takes months to get a licence, but you only get taught how to pass a test, not how to DRIVE.

Sometimes if you ask the police nicely (especially if they are on this street on a daily basis too) if the trucks really can squeeze by that car. I've done this a number of times in New York City especially when the police also see how much of a problem they are causing, they usually turn the other way and let me just kind of squeeze by. Lesson learned by the inconsiderate driver blocking traffic - and they would learn their lesson the expensive way too - in car repairs and raised insurance.

If complaining to LTA or Traffic Police didn't work, I suggest you go to the 'meet-the-people' session organised by your district MP. Make a complaint to them against this inconveniences made by inconsiderate drivers. Your MP and town council will surely look into this matter. This video is proof. It is a residential area, although convenient with shops around that doesn't mean everyone has to endure such noises. This problem can truly bring down your property prices.

Thank you. You have given the most sensible comment/suggestion and I greatly appreciate it. I have spoken to our MP one month back. Unfortunately there is no improvement. I have also brought this issue to our town council and they said they will bring it up to the LTA. Again, nothing has been done. Guess this is Singapore. If it does not hurt the government's pocket, it does not need their attention. Nothing has changed. What should I do when my MP and town council is not doing anything to help?
